1. फिर क्या तू लिब्यातान अथवा मगर को बंसी के द्वारा खींच सकता है, वा डोरी से उसकी जीभ दबा सकता है?

1. Can you catch Leviathan with a fishhook? Can you tie his tongue with a rope?

2. क्या तू उसकी नाक में नकेल लगा सकता वा उसका जबड़ा कील से बेध सकता है?

2. Can you put a rope through his nose or a hook through his jaw?

3. क्या वह तुझ से बहुत गिड़गिड़ाहट करेगा, वा तुझ से मीठी बातें बोलेगा?

3. Will he beg you to let him go free? Will he speak to you with gentle words?

4. क्या वह तुझ से वाचा बान्ध्ेगा कि वह सदा तेरा दास रहे?

4. Will he make an agreement with you and promise to serve you forever?

5. क्या तू उस से ऐसे खेलेगा जैसे चिड़िया से, वा अपनी लड़कियों का जी बहलाने को उसे बान्ध रखेेगा?

5. Will you play with Leviathan as you would play with a bird? Will you put a rope on him so that your girls can play with him?

6. क्या मछुओं के दल उसे बिकाऊ माल समझेंगे? क्या वह उसे व्योपारियों में बांट देंगे?

6. Will fishermen try to buy him from you? Will they cut him into pieces and sell him to the merchants?

7. क्या तू उसका चमड़ा भाले से, वा उसका सिर मछुवे के तिरशूलों से भर सकता है?

7. Can you throw spears into his skin or head?

8. तू उस पर अपना हाथ ही धरे, तो लड़ाई को कभी न भूलेगा, और भविष्य में कभी ऐसा न करेगा।

8. 'If you ever lay a hand on Leviathan, you will never do it again! Just think about the battle that would be!

9. देख, उसे पकड़ने की आशा निष्फल रहती है; उसके देखने ही से मन कच्चा पड़ जाता है।

10. कोई ऐसा साहसी नहीं, जो उसको भड़काए; फिर ऐसा कौन है जो मेरे साम्हने ठहर सके?

12. मैं उसके अंगों के विषय, और उसके बड़े बल और उसकी बनावट की शोभा के विषय चुप न रहूंगा।

13. उसके ऊपर के पहिरावे को कौन उतार सकता है? उसके दांतों की दोनों पांतियों के अर्थात् जबड़ों के बीच कौन आएगा?

14. उसके मुख के दोनों किवाड़ कौन खोल सकता है? उसके दांत चारों ओर से डरावने हैं।

14. No one can force him to open his jaws. The teeth in his mouth scare people.

15. उसके छिलकों की रेखाएं घमण्ड का कारण हैं; वे मानो कड़ी छाप से बन्द किए हुए हैं।

15. His back has rows of shields tightly sealed together.

16. वे एक दूसरे से ऐसे जुड़े हुए हैं, कि उन में कुछ वायु भी नहीं पैठ सकती।

16. They are so close to each other that no air can pass between them.

17. वे आपस में मिले हुए और ऐसे सटे हुए हैं, कि अलग अलग नहीं हो सकते।

17. The shields are joined to each other. They hold together so tightly that they cannot be pulled apart.

18. फिर उसके छींकने से उजियाला चमक उठता है, और उसकी आंखें भोर की पलकों के समान हैं।

18. When Leviathan sneezes, it is like lightning flashing out. His eyes shine like the light of dawn.

19. उसके मुंह से जलते हुए पलीते निकलते हैं, और आग की चिनगारियां छूटती हैं।

19. Burning torches come from his mouth. Sparks of fire shoot out.

20. उसके नथ्ुानों से ऐसा धुआं निकलता है, जैसा खौलती हुई हांड़ी और जलते हुए नरकटों से।

20. Smoke pours from his nose like burning weeds under a boiling pot.

21. उसकी सांस से कोयले सुलगते, और उसके मुंह से आग की लौ निकलती है।

21. His breath sets coals on fire, and flames shoot from his mouth.

22. उसकी गर्दन में सामर्थ्य बनी रहती है, और उसके साम्हने डर नाचता रहता है।

22. His neck is very powerful. People are afraid and run away from him.

23. उसके मांस पर मांस चढ़ा हुआ है, और ऐसा आपस में सटा हुआ है जो हिल नहीं सकता।

23. There is no soft spot in his skin. It is as hard as iron.

24. उसका हृदय पत्थर सा दृढ़ है, वरन चक्की के निचले पाट के समान दृढ़ है।

24. His heart is like a rock; he has no fear. It is as hard as a lower millstone.

25. जब वह उठने लगता है, तब सामथ भी डर जाते हैं, और डर के मारे उनकी सुध बुध लोप हो जाती है।

25. When he gets up, even the strongest people are afraid. They run away when he swings his tail.

26. यदि कोई उस पर तलवार चलाए, तो उस से कुछ न बन पड़ेगा; और न भाले और न बछ और न तीर से।

26. Swords, spears, and darts only bounce off when they hit him. These weapons don't hurt him at all!

27. वह लोहे को पुआल सा, और पीतल को सड़ी लकड़ी सा जानता है।

27. He breaks iron as easily as straw. He breaks bronze like rotten wood.

28. वह तीर से भगाया नहीं जाता, गोफन के पत्थर उसके लिये भूसे से ठहरते हैं।

28. Arrows don't make him run away. Rocks thrown at him seem as light as chaff.

29. लाठियां भी भूसे के समान गिनी जाती हैं; वह बछ के चलने पर हंसता है।

29. When a wood club hits him, it feels to him like a piece of straw. He laughs when anyone throws a spear at him.

30. उसके निचले भाग पैने ठीकरे के समान हैं, कीच पर मानो वह हेंगा फेरता है।

30. The skin on his belly is like sharp pieces of broken pottery. He leaves tracks in the mud like a threshing board.

31. वह गहिरे जल को हंडे की नाई मथ्ता हैे उसके कारण नील नदी मरहम की हांडी के समान होती है।

31. He stirs up the water like a boiling pot. He makes it bubble like a pot of boiling oil.

32. वह अपने पीछे चमकीली लीक छोड़ता जाता है। गहिरा जल मानो श्वेत दिखाई देने लगता है।

32. When he swims, he leaves a sparkling path behind him. He stirs up the water and makes it white with foam.

33. धरती पर उसके तुल्य और कोई नहीं है, जो ऐसा निर्भय बनाया गया है।

33. No animal on earth is like him. He is an animal made without fear.

34. जो कुछ ऊंचा है, उसे वह ताकता ही रहता है, वह सब घमणिडयों के ऊपर राजा है।

34. He looks down on the proudest of creatures. He is king over all the wild animals.'
