1. तब शूही बिल्दद ने कहा,

1. Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

2. प्रभुता करना और डराना यह उसी का काम है; वह अपने ऊंचे ऊंचे स्थानों में शान्ति रखता है।

2. Dominion and fear {are} with him, he maketh peace in his high places.

3. क्या उसकी सेनाओं की गिनती हो सकती? और कौन है जिस पर उसका प्रकाश नहीं पड़ता?

3. Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise?

4. फिर मनुष्य ईश्वर की दृष्टि में धम क्योंकर ठहर सकता है? और जो स्त्री से उत्पन्न हुआ है वह क्योंकर निर्मल हो सकता है?

4. How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean {that is} born of a woman?

5. देख, उसकी दृष्टि में चन्द्रमा भी अन्धेरा ठहरता, और तारे भी निर्मल नहीं ठहरते।

5. Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; and the stars are not pure in his sight.

6. फिर मनुष्य की क्या गिनती जो कीड़ा है, और आदमी कहां रहा जो केंचुआ है !

6. How much less man, {that is} a worm; and the son of man, {who is} a worm?
