1. तब शूही बिल्दद ने कहा,

1. Then responded Bildad the Shuhite, and said:

2. प्रभुता करना और डराना यह उसी का काम है; वह अपने ऊंचे ऊंचे स्थानों में शान्ति रखता है।

2. Dominion and dread, are with him, who causeth prosperity among his lofty ones;

3. क्या उसकी सेनाओं की गिनती हो सकती? और कौन है जिस पर उसका प्रकाश नहीं पड़ता?

3. Is there any number to his troops? And upon whom ariseth not his light?

4. फिर मनुष्य ईश्वर की दृष्टि में धम क्योंकर ठहर सकता है? और जो स्त्री से उत्पन्न हुआ है वह क्योंकर निर्मल हो सकता है?

4. How then shall, a mortal, be just with GOD? Or how shall he be pure who is born of a woman?

5. देख, उसकी दृष्टि में चन्द्रमा भी अन्धेरा ठहरता, और तारे भी निर्मल नहीं ठहरते।

5. Look as far as the moon, and it is not clear, and, the stars, are not bright in his eyes!

6. फिर मनुष्य की क्या गिनती जो कीड़ा है, और आदमी कहां रहा जो केंचुआ है !

6. How much less a mortal who is a creeping thing? Or a son of the earth-born who is a worm?
