1. अहज्याह के पुत्रा यहूदा के राजा योआश के तेईसवें वर्ष में यंहू का मुत्रा यहोआहाज शोमरोन में इस्राएल पर राज्य करने लगा, और सत्राह वर्ष तक राज्य करता रहा।

1. Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king of Israel in the twenty-third year of Joash's rule in Judah. Jehoahaz ruled seventeen years from Samaria

2. और उस ने वह किया, जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में बुरा था अर्थात् नबात के पुत्रा यारोबाम जिस ने इस्राएल से पाप कराया था, उसके पापों के अनुसार वह करता रहा, और उनको छोड़ न दिया।

2. and disobeyed the LORD by doing wrong. He never stopped following the example of Jeroboam, who had caused the Israelites to sin.

3. इसलिये यहोवा का क्रोध इस्राएलियों के विरूद्ध भड़क उठा, और उस ने उनको अराम के राजा हजाएल, और उसके पुत्रा बेन्हदद के अधीन कर दिया।

3. The LORD was angry at the Israelites, so he let King Hazael of Syria and his son Benhadad rule over them for a long time.

4. तब यहोआहाज यहोवा के साम्हने गिड़गिड़ाया और यहोवा ने उसकी सुन ली; क्योंकि उस ने इस्राएल पर अन्धेर देखा कि अराम का राजा उन पर कैसा अन्धेर करता था।

4. Jehoahaz prayed to the LORD for help, and the LORD saw how terribly Hazael was treating the Israelites. He answered Jehoahaz

5. इसलिये यहोवा ने इस्राएल को एक छुड़ानेवाला दिया और वे अराम के वश से छूट गए; और इस्राएली अगले दिनों की नाई फिर अपने अपने डेरे में रहने लगे।

5. by sending Israel a leader who rescued them from the Syrians, and the Israelites lived in peace as they had before.

6. तौभी वे ऐसे पापों से न फिरे, जैसे यारोबाम के घराने ने किया, और जिनके अनुसार उस ने इस्राएल से पाप कराए थे : परन्तु उन में चलते रहे, और शोमरोन में अशेरा भी खड़ी रही।

6. But Hazael had defeated Israel's army so badly that Jehoahaz had only ten chariots, fifty cavalry troops, and ten thousand regular soldiers left in his army. The Israelites kept sinning and following the example of Jeroboam's family. They did not tear down the sacred poles that had been set up in Samaria for the worship of the goddess Asherah.

7. अराम के राजा ने तो यहोआहाज की सेना में से केवल पचास सवार, दस रथ, और दस हजार प्यादे छोड़ दिए थे; क्योंकि उस ने उनको नाश किया, और रौंद रौंदकर के धूलि में मिला दिया था।

9. Jehoahaz died and was buried in Samaria, and his son Jehoash became king.

10. यहूदा के राजा योआश के राज्य के सैंतीसवें वर्ष में यहोआहाज का पुत्रा यहोआश शोमरोन में इस्राएल पर राज्य करते लगा, और सोलह वर्ष तक राज्य करता रहा।

10. Jehoash became king of Israel in the thirty-seventh year of Joash's rule in Judah, and he ruled sixteen years from Samaria.

11. और उस ने वह किया जो यहोवा की दृष्टि में बुरा था, अर्थात् नबात का पुत्रा यारोबाम जिस ने इस्राएल से पाप कराया था, उसके पापो के अनुसार वह करता रहा, और उन से अलग न हुआ।

11. He disobeyed the LORD by doing just like Jeroboam, who had caused the Israelites to sin.

12. योआश के और सब काम जो उस ने किए, और ख्सि वीरता से वह सहूदा के राजा अमस्याह से लड़ा, यह सब क्या इस्राएल के राजाओं के इतिहास की पुस्तक में नहीं लिखा है?

13. निदान योआश अपने पुरखाओं के संग सो गया और यारोबाम उसकी गद्दी पर विराजमान हुआ; और योआश को शोमरोन में इय्राएल के राजाओं के बीच मिट्टी दी गई।

13. Jehoash died and was buried in Samaria beside the other Israelite kings. His son Jeroboam then became king.

14. और एलीशा को वह रोग लग गया जिस से वह मरने पर था, तब इस्राएल का राजा योआश उसके पास गया, और उसके ऊपर रोकर कहने लगा, हाय मेरे पिता ! हाय मेरे पिता ! हाय इस्राएल के रथ और सवारो ! एलीश ने उस से कहा, धनुष और तीर ले आ।

14. Some time before the death of King Jehoash, Elisha the prophet was very sick and about to die. Jehoash went in and stood beside him, crying. He said, 'Master, what will Israel's chariots and cavalry be able to do without you?'

15. Grab a bow and some arrows,' Elisha told him, 'and hold them in your hand.' Jehoash grabbed the bow and arrows and held them. Elisha placed his hand on the king's hand

16. तब उस ने इस्राएल के राजा से कहा, धनुष पर अपना हाथ लगा। जब उस ने अपना हाथ लगाया, तब एलीशा ने अपने हाथ राजा के हाथों पर धर दिए।

17. तब उस ने कहा, पूर्व की खिड़की खोल। जब उस ने उसे खोल दिया, तब एलीशा ने कहा, तीर छोड़ दे; उस ने तीर छोड़ा। और एलीशा ने कहा, यह तीर यहोवा की ओर से छुटकारे अर्थात् अराम से छुटकारे का चिहृ है, इसलिये तू अपेक में अराम को यहां तक मार लेगा कि उनका अन्त कर डालेगा।

17. and said, 'Open the window facing east.' When it was open, Elisha shouted, 'Now shoot!' Jehoash shot an arrow and Elisha said, 'That arrow is a sign that the LORD will help you completely defeat the Syrian army at Aphek.'

18. फिर उस ने कहा, तीरों को ले; और जब उस ने उन्हें लिया, तब उस ने इस्राएल के राजा से कहा, भूमि पर मार; तब वह तीन बार मार कर ठहर गया।

18. Elisha said, 'Pick up the arrows and hit the ground with them.' Jehoash grabbed the arrows and hit the ground three times, then stopped.

19. और परमेश्वर के जन ने उस पर क्रोधित होकर कहा, तुझे तो पांच छे बार मारना चाहिये था। ऐसा करते से तो तू अराम को यहां तक मारता कि उनका अन्त कर डालता, परन्तु अब तू उन्हें तीन ही बार मारेगा।

19. Elisha became angry at the king and exclaimed, 'If you had struck it five or six times, you would completely wipe out the Syrians. Now you will defeat them only three times.'

20. तब एलीशा मर गया, और उसे मिट्टी दी गई। एक वर्ष के बाद मोआब के दल देश में आए।

20. Elisha died and was buried. Every year in the spring, Moab's leaders sent raiding parties into Israel.

21. लोग किसी मनुष्य को मिट्ठी दे रहे थे, कि एक दल उन्हें देख पड़ा तब उन्हों ने उस लोथ को एलीशा की कबर में डाल दिया, और एलीशा की हडि्ढयों के छूते ही वह जी उठा, और अपने पावों के बल खड़ा हो गया।

21. Once, while some Israelites were burying a man's body, they saw a group of Moabites. The Israelites quickly threw the body into Elisha's tomb and ran away. As soon as the man's body touched the bones of Elisha, the man came back to life and stood up.

22. यहोआहाज के जीवन भर अराम का राजा हजाएल इस्राएल पर अन्धेर ही करता रहा।

22. Israel was under the power of King Hazael of Syria during the entire rule of Jehoahaz.

23. परन्तु यहोवा ने उन पर अनुग्रह किया, और उन पर दया करके अपनी उस वाचा के कारण जो उस ने इब्राहीम, इसहाक और याकूब से बान्धी थी, उन पर कृपा दृष्टि की, और न तो उन्हें नाश किया, और न अपने साम्हने से निकाल दिया।

23. But the LORD was kind to the Israelites and showed them mercy because of his solemn agreement with their ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In fact, he has never turned his back on them or let them be completely destroyed.

24. तब अराम का राजा हजाएल मर गया, और उसका पुत्रा बेन्हदद उसके स्थान पर राजा बन गया।

24. Hazael died, and his son Benhadad then became king of Syria.

25. और यहोआहाज के पुत्रा यहोआश ने हजाएल के पुत्रा बेन्हदद के हाथ से वे नगर फिर ले लिए, जिन्हें उस ने युठ्ठ करके उसके पिता यहोआहाज के हाथ से छीन लिया था। योआश ने उसको तीन बार जीतकर इस्राएल के नगर फिर ले लिए।

25. King Jehoash of Israel attacked and defeated the Syrian army three times. He took back from Benhadad all the towns Hazael had captured in battle from his father Jehoahaz.
