1. At that season Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples were hungry and began to pluck ears and to eat.
2. और वह अपना मुंह खोलकर उन्हें यह उपदेश देने लगा,
2. But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, Look, your disciples do that which it is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.
3. धन्य हैं वे, जो मन के दीन हैं, क्योंकि स्वर्ग का राज्य उन्हीं का है।यशायाह 61:1
3. But he said to them, Have you+ not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him;
4. धन्य हैं वे, जो शोक करते हैं, क्योंकि वे शांति पाएंगे।यशायाह 61:2
4. how he entered into the house of God, and they ate the showbread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, neither for those who were with him, but only for the priests?

5. And he said to them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath:

6. so that the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.

7. And he departed from there, and went into their synagogue:

8. and look, a man having a withered hand. And they watched him to see if he would heal on the Sabbath day; so that they might accuse him.

9. And he said to them, Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?
10. धन्य हो तुम, जब मनुष्य मेरे कारण झूठ बोल बोलकर तुम्हरो विरोध में सब प्रकार की बुरी बात कहें।
10. But they held their peace.
11. आनन्दित और मगन होना क्योंकि तुम्हारे लिये स्वर्ग में बड़ा फल है इसलिये कि उन्हों ने उन भविष्यद्वक्ताओं को जो तुम से पहिले थे इसी रीति से सताया था।।
11. Then he says to the man, Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, as the other.
12. तुम पृथ्वी के नमक हो; परन्तु यदि नमक का स्वाद बिगड़ जाए, तो वह फिर किस वस्तु से नमकीन किया जाएगा?2 इतिहास 36:16
12. But the Pharisees went out, and took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.
13. तुम पृथ्वी के नमक हो; परन्तु यदि नमक का स्वाद बिगड़ जाए, तो वह फिर किस वस्तु से नमकीन किया जाएगा? फिर वह किसी काम का नहीं, केवल इस के कि बाहर फेंका जाए और मनुष्यों के पैरों तले रौंआ जाए।
13. And Jesus withdrew from there: and great multitudes from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and [from] beyond the Jordan followed him.
14. तुम जगत की ज्योति हो; जो नगर पहाड़ पर बसा हुआ है वह छिप नहीं सकता।
14. And the report of him went forth into all Syria: and they brought to him all who were sick, held with diverse diseases and torments, and possessed with demons, and epileptic, and palsied; and he healed them.
