10. What great blessings there are for those who suffer persecution for doing what is right. God's kingdom belongs to them.

11. आनन्दित और मगन होना क्योंकि तुम्हारे लिये स्वर्ग में बड़ा फल है इसलिये कि उन्हों ने उन भविष्यद्वक्ताओं को जो तुम से पहिले थे इसी रीति से सताया था।।

11. 'People will insult you and hurt you. They will lie and say all kinds of evil things about you because you follow me. But when they do that, know that God will bless you.

12. तुम पृथ्वी के नमक हो; परन्तु यदि नमक का स्वाद बिगड़ जाए, तो वह फिर किस वस्तु से नमकीन किया जाएगा?

12. Be happy about it. Be very glad because you have a great reward waiting for you in heaven. People did these same bad things to the prophets who lived before you.

13. तुम पृथ्वी के नमक हो; परन्तु यदि नमक का स्वाद बिगड़ जाए, तो वह फिर किस वस्तु से नमकीन किया जाएगा? फिर वह किसी काम का नहीं, केवल इस के कि बाहर फेंका जाए और मनुष्यों के पैरों तले रौंआ जाए।

13. You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its taste, it cannot be made salty again. Salt is useless if it loses its salty taste. It will be thrown out where people will just walk on it.

14. तुम जगत की ज्योति हो; जो नगर पहाड़ पर बसा हुआ है वह छिप नहीं सकता।

14. 'You are the light that shines for the world to see. You are like a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden.

15. और लोग दिया जलाकर पैमाने के नीचे नहीं परन्तु दीवट पर रखते हैं, तब उस से घर के सब लोगों को प्रकाश पहुंचता है।

15. People don't hide a lamp under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand. Then the light shines for everyone in the house.

16. उसी प्रकार तुम्हारा उजियाला मनुष्यों के साम्हने चमके कि वे तुम्हारे भले कामों को देखकर तुम्हारे पिता की, जो स्वर्ग में हैं, बड़ाई करें।।

16. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.

17. यह न समझो, कि मैं व्यवस्था या भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की पुस्तकों को लोप करने आया हूं।
यशायाह 42:21

17. 'Don't think that I have come to destroy the Law of Moses or the teaching of the prophets. I have come not to destroy their teachings but to give full meaning to them.

18. लोप करने नहीं, परन्तु पूरा करने आया हूं, क्योंकि मैं तुम से सच कहता हूं, कि जब तक आकाश और पृथ्वी टल न जाएं, तब तक व्यवस्था से एक मात्रा या बिन्दु भी बिना पूरा हुए नहीं टलेगा।

18. I assure you that nothing will disappear from the law until heaven and earth are gone. The law will not lose even the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter until it has all been done.

19. इसलिये जो कोई इन छोटी से छोटी आज्ञाओं में से किसी एक को तोड़े, और वैसा ही लोगों को सिखाए, वह स्वर्ग के राज्य में सब से छोटा कहलाएगा; परन्तु जो कोई उन का पालन करेगा और उन्हें सिखाएगा, वही स्वर्ग के राज्य में महान कहलाएगा।

19. 'A person should obey every command in the law, even one that does not seem important. Whoever refuses to obey any command and teaches others not to obey it will be the least important in God's kingdom. But whoever obeys the law and teaches others to obey it will be great in God's kingdom.

20. I tell you that you must do better than the teachers of the law and the Pharisees. If you are not more pleasing to God than they are, you will never enter God's kingdom.

21. 'You have heard that it was said to our people long ago, 'You must not murder anyone. Any person who commits murder will be judged.'

22. But I tell you, don't be angry with anyone. If you are angry with others, you will be judged. And if you insult someone, you will be judged by the high court. And if you call someone a fool, you will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23. इसलिये यदि तू अपनी भेंट वेदी पर लाए, और वहां तू स्मरण करे, कि मेरे भाई के मन में मेरी ओर से कुछ विरोध है, तो अपनी भेंट वहीं वेदी के साम्हने छोड़ दे।

23. So, what if you are offering your gift at the altar and remember that someone has something against you?

24. और जाकर पहिले अपने भाई से मेल मिलाप कर; तब आकर अपनी भेंट चढ़ा।

24. Leave your gift there and go make peace with that person. Then come and offer your gift.

25. जब तक तू अपने मु ई के साथ मार्ग में हैं, उस से झटपट मेल मिलाप कर ले कहीं ऐसा न हो कि मु ई तुझे हाकिम को सौंपे, और हाकिम तुझे सिपाही को सौंप दे और तू बन्दीगृह में डाल दिया जाए।

25. 'If anyone wants to take you to court, make friends with them quickly. Try to do that before you get to the court. If you don't, they might hand you over to the judge. And the judge will hand you over to a guard, who will throw you into jail.

26. मैं तुम से सच कहता हूं कि जब तक तू कौड़ी कौड़ी भर न दे तब तक वहां से छूटने न पाएगा।।

26. I assure you that you will not leave there until you have paid everything you owe.

27. तुम सुन चुके हो कि कहा गया था, कि व्यभिचार न करना।

27. You have heard that it was said, 'You must not commit adultery. '

28. परन्तु मैं तुम से यह कहता हूं, कि जो कोई किसी स्त्री पर कुदृष्टि डाले वह अपने मन में उस से व्यभिचार कर चुका।

28. But I tell you that if a man looks at a woman and wants to sin sexually with her, he has already committed that sin with her in his mind.

29. यदि तेरी दहिनी आंख तुझे ठोकर खिलाए, तो उसे निकालकर अपने पास से फेंक दे; क्योंकि तेरे लिये यही भला है कि तेरे अंगों में से एक नाश हो जाए और तेरा सारा शरीर नरक में न डाला जाए।

29. If your right eye makes you sin, take it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into hell.

30. और यदि तेरा दहिना हाथ तुझे ठोकर खिलाए, तो उस को काटकर अपने पास से फेंक दे, क्योंकि तेरे लिये यही भला है, कि तेरे अंगों में से एक नाश हो जाए और तेरा सारा शरीर नरक में न डाला जाए।।

30. If your right hand makes you sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

31. यह भी कहा गया था, कि जो कोई अपनी पत्नी को त्याग दे तो उसे त्यागपत्रा दे।

31. It was also said, 'Any man who divorces his wife must give her a written notice of divorce.'

32. परन्तु मैं तुम से यह कहता हूं कि जो कोई अपनी पत्नी को व्यभिचार के सिवा किसी और कारण से छोड़ दे, तो वह उस से व्यभिचार करवाता है; और जो कोई उस त्यागी हुई से ब्याह करे, वह व्यभिचार करता है।।

32. But I tell you that any man who divorces his wife, except for the problem of sexual sin, is causing his wife to be guilty of adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman is guilty of adultery.

33. फिर तुम सुन चुके हो, कि पूर्वकाल के लोगों से कहा गया था कि झूठी शपथ न खाना, परन्तु प्रभु के लिये अपनी शपथ को पूरी करना।

33. 'You have heard that it was said to our people long ago, 'When you make a vow, you must not break your promise. Keep the vows that you make to the Lord.'

34. परन्तु मैं तुम से यह कहता हूं, कि कभी शपथ न खाना; न तो स्वर्ग की, क्योंकि वह परमेश्वर का सिंहासन है।

34. But I tell you, when you make a promise, don't try to make it stronger with a vow. Don't make a vow using the name of heaven, because heaven is God's throne.

35. न धरती की, क्योंकि वह उसके पांवों की चौकी है; न यरूशलेम की, क्योंकि वह महाराजा का नगर है।

35. Don't make a vow using the name of the earth, because the earth belongs to him. Don't make a vow using the name of Jerusalem, because it also belongs to him, the great King.

36. अपने सिर की भी शपथ न खाना क्योंकि तू एक बाल को भी न उजला, न काला कर सकता है।

36. And don't even say that your own head is proof that you will keep your promise. You cannot make one hair on your head white or black.

37. परन्तु तुम्हारी बात हां की हां, या नहीं की नहीं हो; क्योंकि जो कुछ इस से अधिक होता है वह बुराई से होता है।।

37. Say only 'yes' if you mean 'yes,' and say only 'no' if you mean 'no.' If you say more than that, it is from the Evil One.

39. But I tell you, don't fight back against anyone who wants to do harm to you. If they hit you on the right cheek, let them hit the other cheek too.

40. और यदि कोई तुझ पर नालिश करके तेरा कुरता लेना चाहे, तो उसे दोहर भी ले लेने दे।

40. If anyone wants to sue you in court and take your shirt, let them have your coat too.

41. और जो कोई तुझे कोस भर बेगार में ले जाए तो उसके साथ दो कोस चला जा।

41. If a soldier forces you to walk with him one mile, go with him two.

42. जो कोई तुझ से मांगे, उसे दे; और जो तुझ से उधार लेना चाहे, उस से मुंह न मोड़।।

42. Give to anyone who asks you for something. Don't refuse to give to anyone who wants to borrow from you.

43. तुम सुन चुके हो, कि कहा गया था; कि अपने पड़ोसी से प्रेम रखना, और अपने बैरी से बैर।

43. 'You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.'

44. परन्तु मैं तुम से यह कहता हूं, कि अपने बैरियों से प्रेम रखो और अपने सतानेवालों के लिये प्रार्थना करो।

44. But I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those who treat you badly.

45. जिस से तुम अपने स्वर्गीय पिता की सन्तान ठहरोगे क्योंकि वह भलों और बुरों दोनो पर अपना सूर्य उदय करता है, और धर्मियों और अधर्मियों दोनों पर मेंह बरसाता है।

45. If you do this, you will be children who are truly like your Father in heaven. He lets the sun rise for all people, whether they are good or bad. He sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong.

46. क्योंकि यदि तुम अपने प्रेम रखनेवालों ही से प्रेम रखो, तो तुम्हारे लिये क्या लाभ होगा? क्या महसूल लेनेवाले भी ऐसा ही नहीं करते?

46. If you love only those who love you, why should you get a reward for that? Even the tax collectors do that.

47. और यदि तुम केवल अपने भाइयों की को नमस्कार करो, तो कौन सा बड़ा काम करते हो? क्या अन्यजाति भी ऐसा नहीं करते?

47. And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than anyone else. Even the people who don't know God are nice to their friends.

48. इसलिये चाहिये कि तुम सिद्ध बनो, जैसा तुम्हारा स्वर्गीय पिता सिद्ध है।।

48. What I am saying is that you must be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
