1. अहाब के तो सत्तर बेटे, पोते, शोमरोन में रहते थे। सो येहू ने शोमरोन में उन पुरनियों के पास, और जो यिज्रैल के हाकिम थे, और जो अहाब के लड़केवालों के पालनेवाले थे, उनके पास पत्रा लिखकर भेजे,

1. Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters to the rulers of Samaria, to the elders of Jezreel, and to the tutors [appointed by] Ahab, saying,

2. कि तुम्हारे स्वामी के बेटे, पोते तो तुम्हारे पास रहते हैं, और तुम्हारे रथ, और धेड़े भी हैं, और तुम्हारे एक गढ़वाला नगर, और हथियार भी हैं; तो इस पत्रा के हाथ लगते ही,

2. And now as soon as this letter comes to you+, seeing your+ master's sons are with you+, and there are with you+ chariots and horses, and a fortified city, and armor;

3. अपने स्वामी के बेटों में से जो सब से अच्छा और योग्य हो, उसको छांटकर, उसके पिता की गद्दी पर बैठाओ, और अपने स्वामी के घराने के लिये लड़ो।

3. look+ for the best and meet of your+ master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your+ master's house.

4. परंतु वे निपट डर गए, और कहने लगे, उसके साम्हने दो राजा भी ठहर न सके, फिर हम कहां ठहर सकेंगे?

4. But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Look, the two kings didn't stand before him: how then shall we stand?

5. तब जो राज घराने के काम पर था, और जो नगर के ऊपर था, उन्हों ने और पुरनियों और लड़केबालों के पालनेवालों ने येहू के पास यों कहला भेजा, कि हम तेरे दास हैं, जो कुछ तू हम से कहे, उसे हम करेंगे; हम किसी को राजा न बनाएंगे, जो तुझे भाए वहीं कर।

5. And he who was over the household, and he who was over the city, the elders also, and those who brought up [the children], sent to Jehu, saying, We are your slaves, and will do all that you will bid us; we will not make any man king: do that which is good in your eyes.

6. तब उस ने दूसरा पत्रा लिखकर उनके पास भेजा, कि यदि तुम मेरी ओर के हो और मेरी मानो, तो अपने स्वामी के बेटों पोतों के सिर कटवाकर कल इसी समय तक मेरे पास यिज्रैल में हाजिर होना। राजपुत्रा तो जो सत्तर मतुष्य थे, वे उस नगर के रईसों के पास पलते थे।

6. Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If you+ are on my side, and if you+ will listen to my voice, take+ the heads of the men your+ master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by tomorrow this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.

7. यह पत्रा उनके हाथ लगते ही, उन्हों ने उन सत्तरों राजपुत्रों को पकड़कर मार डाला, और उनके सिर टोकरियों में रखकर यिज्रैल को उसके पास भेज दिए।

7. And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and slew them, even seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Jezreel.

8. और एक दूत ने उसके पास जाकर बता दिया, कि राजकुमारों के सिर आगए हैं। तब उस ने कहा, उन्हें फाटक में दो ढेर करके बिहान तक रखो।

8. And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay+ them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.

9. बिहान को उस ने बाहर जा खड़े होकर सब लोगों से कहा, तुम तो निदष हो, मैं ने अपने स्वामी से राजद्रोह की गोष्ठी करके उसे घात किया, परन्तु इन सभों को किस ने मार डाला?

9. And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, You+ are righteous: look, I conspired against my master, and slew him; but who struck all these?

10. अब जान लो कि जो वचन यहोवा ने अपने दास एलिरयाह के द्वारा कहा था, उसे उस ने पूरा किया है; जो वचन यहोवा ने अहाब के घराने के विषय कहा, उस में से एक भी बात बिना पूरी हुए न रहेगी।

10. Now know that nothing will fall to the earth of the word of Yahweh, which Yahweh spoke concerning the house of Ahab: for Yahweh has done that which he spoke by his slave Elijah.

11. तब अहाब के घराने के जितने लोग यिज्रैल में रह गए, उन सभों को और उसके जितने प्रधान पुरूष और मित्रा और याजक थे, उन सभों को येहू ने मार डाला, यहां तक कि उस ने किसी को जीवित न छोड़ा।

11. So Jehu struck all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and those who he knew well, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

12. तब वह वहां से चलकर शोमरोन को गया। और मार्ग में चरवाहों के ऊन कतरने के स्थान पर पहुंचा ही था,

12. And he arose and departed, and went to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing-house of the shepherds in the way,

13. कि यहूदा के राजा अहरयाह के भई येहू से मिले और जब उस ने पूछा, तुम कौन हो? तब उन्हों ने उत्तर दिया, हम अहज्याह के भाई हैं, और राजमुत्रों और राजमाता के बेटों का कुशलक्षेम पूछने को जाते हैं।

13. Jehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are you+? And they answered, We are the brothers of Ahaziah: and we go down to greet the sons of the king and the sons of the queen.

14. तब उस ने कहा, इन्हें जीवित पकड़ो। सो उन्हों ने उनको जो बयालीस पुरूष थे, जीवित पकड़ा, और ऊन कतरते के स्थान की बाबली पर मार डाला, उस ने उन में से किसी को न छोड़ा।

14. And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing-house, even two and forty men; neither did he leave any of them.

15. जब वह वहां से चला, तब रेकाब का पुत्रा यहोनादाब साम्हने से आता हुआ उसको मिला। उसका कशल उस ने पूछकर कहा, मेरा मन तो तेरी ओर निष्कपट है सो क्या तेरा मन भी वैसा ही है? यहोनादाब ने कहा, हां, ऐसा ही है। फिर उस ने कहा, ऐसा हो, तो अपना हाथ मुझे दे। उस ने अपना हाथ उसे दिया, और वह यह कहकर उसे अपने पास रथ पर चढ़ाने लगा,

15. And when he had departed from there, he found Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him; and he greeted him, and said to him, Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it is, give me your hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

16. कि मेरे संग चल। और देख, कि मुझे यहोवा के निमित्त कैसी जलन रहती है। तब वह उसके रथ पर चढ़ा दिया गया।

16. And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for Yahweh. So they made him ride in his chariot.

17. शोमरोन को पहुंचकर उस ने यहोवा के उस वचन के अनुसार जो उस ने एलिरयाह से कहा था, अहाब के जितने शोमरोन में बचे रहे, उन सभों को मार के विनाश किया।

17. And when he came to Samaria, he struck all who remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke to Elijah.

18. तब येहू ने सब लोगों को इकट्ठा करके कहा, अहाब ने तो बाल की थोड़ी ही उपासना की थी, अब येहू उसकी अपासना बढ़के करेगा।

18. And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu will serve him much.

19. इसलिये अब बाल के सब नबियों, सब उपासकों और सब याजकों को मेरे पास बुला लाओ, उन में से कोई भी न रह जाए; क्योंकि बाल के लिये मेरा एक बड़ा यज्ञ होनेवाला है; जो कोई न आए वह जीवित न बचेगा। येहू ने यह काम कमट करके बाल के सब उपासकों को नाश करने के लिये किया।

19. Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Baal, all his worshipers, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice [to do] to Baal; whoever will be wanting, he will not live. But Jehu did it in subtlety, to the intent that he might destroy the worshipers of Baal.

20. तब येहू ने कहा, बाल की एक पवित्रा महासभा का प्रचार करो। और लोगों ने प्रचार किया।

20. And Jehu said, Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it.

21. और येहू ने सारे इस्राएल में दूत भेजे; तब वाल के सब उपासक आए, यहां तक कि ऐसा कोई न रह गया जो न आया हो। और वे बाल के भवन में इतने आए, कि वह एक सिरे से दूसरे सिरे तक भर गया।

21. And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that didn't come. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was filled from one end to another.

22. तब उस ने उस मनुष्य से जो वस्त्रा के घर का अधिकारी था, कहा, बाल के सब उपासकों के लिये वस्त्रा निकाल ले आ; सो वह उनके लिये वस्त्रा निकाल ले आया।

22. And he said to him who was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshipers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.

23. तब येहू रेकाब के पुत्रा यहोनादाब को संग लेकर बाल के भपन में गया, और बाल के उपासकों से कहा, ढूंढ़कर देखो, कि यहां तुम्हारे संग यहोवा का कोई उपासक तो नहीं है, केवल बाल ही के उपासक हैं।

23. And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal; and he said to the worshipers of Baal, Search and look, in case there are here with you+ any of the slaves of Yahweh, but only the worshipers of Baal themselves [should be here].

24. तब वे मेलबलि और होमबलि चढ़ाने को भीतर गए। येहू ने तो अस्सी पुरूष बाहर ठहरा कर उन से कहा था, यदि उन मनुष्यों में से जिन्हें मैं तुम्हारे हाथ कर दूं, कोर्ठ भी बचने पाए, तो जो उसे जाने देगा उसका प्राण, उसके प्राण की सन्ती जाएगा।

24. And they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt-offerings. Now Jehu had appointed himself eighty men outside, and said, If any of the men whom I bring into your+ hands escape, [he who lets him go], his life will be for the life of him.

25. फिर जब होमबलि चढ़ चुका, तब संहू ने पहरूओं और सरदारों से कहा, भीतर जाकर उन्हें मार डालो; कोई निकलने न पाए। तब उन्हों ने उन्हें तलवार से मारा और पहरूए और सरदार उनको बाहर फेंककर बाल के भवन के नगर को गए।

25. And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt-offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they struck them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the citadel of the house of Baal.

26. और उन्हों ने बाल के भवन में की लाठें निकालकर फूंक दीं।

26. And they brought forth the pillars that were in the house of Baal, and burned them.

27. और बाल की लाठ को उन्हों ने तोड़ डाला; और बाल के भवन को ढाकर पायखाना बना दिया; और वह आज तक ऐसा ही है।

27. And they broke down the pillar of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal, and made it an outside latrine, to this day.

28. यों येहू ने बाल को इस्राएल में से नाश करके दूर किया।

28. Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

29. ैतौभी नबात के पुत्रा यारोबाम, जिस ने इस्राएल से पाप कराया था, उसके पापों के अनुसार करने, अर्थात् बेतेल और दान में के सोने के बछड़ों की पूजा, उस से येहू अलग न हुआ।

29. Nevertheless from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin, Jehu didn't depart from after them, [to wit,] the golden calves that were in Beth-el, and that were in Dan.

30. और यहोवा ने येहू से कहा, इसलिये कि नू ने वह किया, जो मेरी दृष्टि में ठीक है, और अहाब के घराने से मेरी इच्छा के अनुसार बर्ताव किया है, तेरे परपोते के पुत्रा तक तेरी सन्तान इस्राएल की गद्दी पर बिराजती रहेगी।

30. And Yahweh said to Jehu, Because you have done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, [and] have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, your sons of the fourth generation will sit on the throne of Israel.

31. परन्तु येहू ने इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा की रयवस्था पर पूर्ण मन से चलने की चौकसी न की, वरन यारोबाम जिस ने इस्राएल से पाप कराया था, उसके पापों के अनुसार करने से वह अलग न हुआ।

31. But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of Yahweh, the God of Israel, with all his heart: he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin.

32. उन दिनों यहोवा इस्राएल को घटाने लगा, इसलिये हजाएल ने इस्राएल के उन सारे देशों में उनको मारा :

32. In those days Yahweh began to cut off from Israel: and Hazael struck them in all the borders of Israel;

33. यरदन से पूरब की ओर गिलाद का सारा देश, और गादी और रूबेनी और मनश्शेई का देश अर्थात् अरोएर से लेकर जो अन न की तराई के पास है, गिलाद और बाशान तक।

33. from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

34. येहू के और सब काम और जो कुछ उस ने किया, और उसकी पूर्र्ण वीरता, यह सब क्या इस्राएल के राजाओं के इतिहास की पुस्तक में नहीं लिखा है?

34. Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

35.

35. And Jehu slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.

36. निदान येहू अपने पुरखाओं के संग सो गया, और शोमरोन में उसको मिट्टी दी गई, और उसका पुत्रा यहोआहाज उसके स्थान पर राजा बन गया।

36. And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.
