1. जब मैं इस्राएल को चंगा करता हूं तब एप्रैम का अधर्म और शोमरोन की बुराइयां प्रगट हो जाती हैं; वे छल से काम करते हैं, चोर भीतर घुसता, और डाकुओं का दल बाहर छीन लेता है।

1. When I have healed Israel, then shall the iniquity of Ephraim be revealed, and the wickedness of Samaria; for they have wrought falsehood. And a thief shall come in to him, [even] a robber spoiling in his way;

2. तौभी वे नहीं सोचते कि यहोवा हमारी सारी बुराई को स्मरण रखता है। इसलिये अब वे अपने कामों के जाल में फसेंगे, क्योंकि उनके कार्य मेरी दृष्टि में बने हैं।

2. that they may concert together as [men] singing in their heart. I remember all their wickedness; now have their own counsels compassed them about; they came before My face.

3. वे राजा को बुराई करने से, और हाकिमों को झूठ बोलने से आनन्दित करते हैं।

3. They gladdened kings with their wickedness, and princes with their lies.

4. वे सब के सब व्यभिचारी हैं; वे उस तन्दूर के समान हैं जिसको पकानेवाला गर्म करता है, पर जब तक आटा गूंधा नहीं जाता और खमीर से फूल नहीं चुकता, तब तक वह आग को नहीं उसकाता।

4. They are all adulterers, as an oven glowing with flame for hot baking, on account of the kneading of the dough, until it is leavened.

5. हमारे राजा के जन्म दिन में हाकिम दाखमधु पीकर चूर हुए; उस ने ठट्ठा करनेवालों से अपना हाथ मिलाया।

5. [In] the days of our kings, the princes began to be inflamed with wine: he stretched out his hand with pestilent fellows.

6. जब तक वे घात लगाए रहते हैं, तब तक वे अपना मन तन्दूर की नाई तैयार किए रहते हैं; उनका पकानेवाला रात भर सोता रहता है; वह भोर को तन्दूर की धधकती लौ के समान लाल हो जाता है।

6. Wherefore their hearts are inflamed as an oven, while they rage all the night. Ephraim is satisfied with sleep; the morning has come; he is burnt up as a flame of fire.

7. वे सब के सब तन्दूर की नाई धधकते, और अपने न्यायियों को भस्म करते हैं। उनके सब राजा मारे गए हैं; और उन में से कोई मेरी दोहाई नहीं देता है।।

7. They are all heated like an oven, and have devoured their judges. All their kings are fallen; there was not one among them that called on Me.

8. एप्रैम देश देश के लोगों से मिलाजुला रहता है; एप्रैम ऐसी चपाती ठहरा है जो उलटी न गई हो।

8. Ephraim is mixed among his people; Ephraim became a cake not turned.

9. परदेशियों ने उसका बल तोड़ डाला, परन्तु वह इसे नहीं जानता; उसके सिर में कहीं कहीं पके बाल हैं, परन्तु वह इसे भी नहीं जानता।

9. Strangers devoured his strength, and he knew [it] not; and gray hairs came upon him, and he knew [it] not.

10. इस्राएल का गर्व उसी के विरूद्व साक्षी देता है; इन सब बातों के रहते हुए भी वे अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा की ओर नहीं फिरे, और न उसको ढूंढ़ा है।।

10. And the pride of Israel shall be brought down before his face: yet they have not returned to the Lord their God, neither have they diligently sought Him for all this.

11. एप्रैम एक भोली पण्डुकी के समान हो गया है जिस के कुछ बुद्धि नहीं; वे मिस्त्रियों की दोहाई देते, और अश्शूर को चले जाते हैं।

11. And Ephraim was as a silly dove, not having a heart: he called to Egypt, and they went to the Assyrians.

12. जब वे जाएं, तब उनके ऊपर मैं अपना जाल फैलाऊंगा; मैं उन्हें ऐसा खींच लूंगा जैसे आकाश के पक्षी खींचे जाते हैं; मैं उनको ऐसी ताड़ना दूंगा, जैसी उनकी मण्डली सुन चुकी है।

12. Whenever they shall go, I will cast My net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the sky, I will chasten them with the rumor of their [coming] affliction.

13. उन पर हाय, क्योंकि वे मेरे पास से भटक गए! उनका सत्यानाश होए, क्योंकि उन्हों ने मुझ से बलवा किया है! मैं तो उन्हें छुडाता रहा, परन्तु वे मुझ से झूठ बोलते आए हैं।।

13. Woe to them! For they have started aside from Me: they are cowards; for they have sinned against Me: yet I redeemed them, but they spoke falsehoods against Me.

14. वे मन से मेरी दोहाई नहीं देते, परन्तु अपने बिछौने पर पड़े हुए हाय, हाय, करते हैं; वे अन्न और नये दाखमधु पाने के लिये भीड़ लगाते, और मुझ से बलवा करते हैं।

14. And their hearts did not cry to Me, but they howled on their beds: they pined for oil and wine.

15. मैं उनको शिक्षा देता रहा और उनकी भुजाओं को बलवन्त करता आया हूं, तौभी वे मेरे विरूद्ध बुरी कल्पना करते हैं।

15. They were instructed by Me, and I strengthened their arms; and they devised evils against Me.

16. वे फिरते तो हैं, परन्तु परमप्रधान की ओर नहीं; वे धोखा देनेवाले धनुष के समान हैं; इसलिये उनके हाकिम अपनी क्रोधभरी बातों के कारण तलवार से मारे जाएंगे। मि देश में उनके ठट्ठों में उड़ाए जाने का यही कारण होगा।।

16. They turned aside to that which is not, they became as a bent bow. Their princes shall fall by the sword, by reason of the unbridled state of their tongue. This is their setting at nought in the land of Egypt.
