1. तब कारेह का पुत्रा योहानान, होशयाह का पुत्रा याजन्याह, दलों के सब प्रधान और छोटे से लेकर बड़े तक, सब लोग यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता के निकट आकर कहने लगे,

1. Then all the commanders of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest, came near

2. हमारी बिनती ग्रहण करके अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा से हम सब बचे हुओं के लिये प्रार्थना कर, क्योंकि तू अपनी आंखों से देख रहा है कि हम जो पहले बहुत थे, अब थोड़े ही बच गए हैं।

2. and said to Jeremiah the prophet, 'Let our plea for mercy come before you, and pray to the LORD your God for us, for all this remnant- because we are left with but a few, as your eyes see us-

3. इसलिये प्रार्थना कर कि तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा हम को बताए कि हम किस मार्ग से चलें, और कौन सा काम करें?

3. that the LORD your God may show us the way we should go, and the thing that we should do.'

4. सो यिर्मयाह भविष्यद्वक्ता ने उन से कहा, मैं ने तुम्हारी सुनी है; देखो, मैं तुम्हारे वचनों के अनुसार तुम्हारे परमेश्वर यहोवा से प्रार्थना करूंगा ओर जो उत्तर यहोवा तुम्हारे लिये देगा मैं तुम को बताऊंगा; मैं तुम से कोई बात न छिपाऊंगा।

4. Jeremiah the prophet said to them, 'I have heard you. Behold, I will pray to the LORD your God according to your request, and whatever the LORD answers you I will tell you. I will keep nothing back from you.'

5. तब उन्हों ने यिर्मयाह से कहा, यदि तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा तेरे द्वारा हमारे पास कोई वचन पहुंचाए और हम उसके अनुसार न करें, तो यहोवा हमारे बीच में सच्चा और विश्वासयोग्य साक्षी ठहरे।

5. Then they said to Jeremiah, 'May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act according to all the word with which the LORD your God sends you to us.

6. चाहे वह भली बात हो, चाहे बुरी, तौभी हम अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा की आज्ञा, जिसके पास हम तुझे भेजते हैं, मानेंगे, क्योंकि जब हम अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा की बात मानें तब हमारा भला हो।

6. Whether it is good or bad, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.'

7. दस दिन के बीतने पर यहोवा का वचन यिर्मयाह के पास पहुंचा।

7. At the end of ten days the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah.

8. तब उस ने कारेह के पुत्रा योहानान को, उसके साथ के दलों के प्रधानों को, और छोटे से लेकर बड़े तक जितने लोग थे, उन सभों को बुलाकर उन से कहा,

8. Then he summoned Johanan the son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest,

9. इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यहोवा, जिसके पास तुम ने मुझ को इसलिये भेजा कि मैं तुम्हारी बिनती उसके आगे कह सुनाऊं, वह यों कहता है,

9. and said to them, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your plea for mercy before him:

10. यदि तुम इसी देश में रह जाओ, तब तो मैं तुम को नाश नहीं करूंगा वरन बनाए रखूंगा; और तुम्हें न उखाडूंगा, वरन रोपे रखूंगा; क्योंकि तुम्हारी जो हानि मैं ने की है उस से मैं पछताता हूँ।

10. If you will remain in this land, then I will build you up and not pull you down; I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I relent of the disaster that I did to you.

11. तुम बाबुल के राजा से डरते हो, सो उस से मत डरो; यहोवा की यह वाणी है, उस से मत डरो, क्योंकि मैं तुम्हारी रक्षा करने और तुम को उसके हाथ से बचाने के लिये तुम्हारे साथ हूँ।

11. Do not fear the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid. Do not fear him, declares the LORD, for I am with you, to save you and to deliver you from his hand.

12. मैं तुम पर दया करूंगा, कि वह भी तुम पर दया करके तुम को तुम्हारी भूमि पर फिर से बसा देगा।

12. I will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy on you and let you remain in your own land.

13. परन्तु यदि तुम यह कहकर कि हम इस देश में न रहेंगे अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा की बात न मानो, और कहो कि हम तो मिस्र देश जाकर वहीं रहेंगे,

13. But if you say, 'We will not remain in this land,' disobeying the voice of the LORD your God

14. क्योंकि वहां न हम युद्व देखेंगे, न नरसिंगे का शब्द सुनेंगे और न हम को भोजन की धटी होगा, तो, हे बचे हुए यहूदियो, यहोवा का यह वचन सुनोे

14. and saying, 'No, we will go to the land of Egypt, where we shall not see war or hear the sound of the trumpet or be hungry for bread, and we will dwell there,'

15. इस्राएल का परमेश्वर सेनाओं का यहोवा यों कहता है, कि यदि तुम सचमुच मिस्र की ओर जाने का मुंह करो, और वहां रहने के लिये जाओ,

15. then hear the word of the LORD, O remnant of Judah. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: If you set your faces to enter Egypt and go to live there,

16. तो ऐसा होगा कि जिस तलवार से तुम डरते हो, वही वहां मिस्र देश में तुम को जा लेगी, और जिस महंगी का भय तुम खाते हो, वह मिस्र में तुम्हारा पीछा न छोड़ेगी; और वहीं तुम मरोगे।

16. then the sword that you fear shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine of which you are afraid shall follow close after you to Egypt, and there you shall die.

17. जितने मनुष्य मिस्र में रहने के लिये उसकी ओर मुंह करें, वे सब तलवार, महंगी और मरी से मरेंगे, और जो विपत्ति मैं उनके बीच डालूंगा, उस से कोई बचा न रहेगा।

17. All the men who set their faces to go to Egypt to live there shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence. They shall have no remnant or survivor from the disaster that I will bring upon them.

18. इस्राएल का परमेश्वर सेनाओं का यहोवा यों कहता है, कि जिस प्रकार से मेरा कोप और जलजलाहट यरूशलेम के निवासियों पर भड़क उठी थी, उसी प्रकार से यदि तुम मिस्र में जाओ, तो मेरी जलजलाहट तुम्हारे ऊपर ऐसी भड़क उठेगी कि लोग चकित होंगे, और तुम्हारी उपमा देकर शाप दिया करेंगे और तुम्हारी निन्दा किया करेंगे। तुम उस स्थान को फिर न देखने पाओगे।

18. For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: As my anger and my wrath were poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you when you go to Egypt. You shall become an execration, a horror, a curse, and a taunt. You shall see this place no more.

19. हे बचे हुए यहूदियो, यहोवा ने तुम्हारे विषय में कहा है, मिस्र में मत जाओ। तुम निश्चय जानो कि मैं ने आज तुम को चिताकर यह बात बता दी है।

19. The LORD has said to you, O remnant of Judah, 'Do not go to Egypt.' Know for a certainty that I have warned you this day

20. क्योंकि जब तुम ने मुझ को यह कहकर अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के पास भेज दिया कि हमारे निमित्त हमारे परमेश्वर यहोवा से प्रार्थना कर और जो कुछ हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा कहे उससी के अनुसार हम को बता और हम वैसा ही करेंगे, तब तुम जान बूझके अपने ही को धोखा देते थे।

20. that you have gone astray at the cost of your lives. For you sent me to the LORD your God, saying, 'Pray for us to the LORD our God, and whatever the LORD our God says declare to us and we will do it.'

21. देखो, मैं आज तुम को बताए देता हूं, परन्तु, और जो कुछ तुम्हारे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने तुम से कहने के लिये मुझ को भेजा है, उस में से तुम कोई बात नहीं मानते।

21. And I have this day declared it to you, but you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God in anything that he sent me to tell you.

22. अब तुम निश्चय जानो, कि जिस स्थान में तुम परदेशी होके रहने की इच्छा करते हो, उस में तुम तलवार, महंगी और मरी से मर जाओगे।

22. Now therefore know for a certainty that you shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence in the place where you desire to go to live.'
