1. कोमल उत्तर सुनने से जलजलाहट ठण्डी होती है, परन्तु कटुवचन से क्रोध धधक उठता है।

2. बुद्धिमान ज्ञान का ठीक बखान करते हैं, परन्तु मूर्खों के मुंह से मूढ़ता उबल आती है।

2. The tongue of the wise treats knowledge correctly, but the mouth of the fool spouts out folly.

3. यहोवा की आंखें सब स्थानों में लगी रहती हैं, वह बुरे भले दोनों को देखती रहती हैं।

3. The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on those who are evil and those who are good.

4. शान्ति देनेवाली बात जीवन- वृक्ष है, परन्तु उलट फेर की बात से आत्मा दु:खित होती है।

4. Speech that heals is like a life-giving tree, but a perverse tongue breaks the spirit.

5. मूढ़ अपने पिता की शिक्षा का तिरस्कार करता है, परन्तु जो डांट को मानता, वह चतुर हो जाता है।

5. A fool rejects his father's discipline, but whoever heeds reproof shows good sense.

6. धर्मी के घर में बहुत धन रहता है, परन्तु दुष्ट के उपार्जन में दु:ख रहता है।

6. In the house of the righteous is abundant wealth, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.

7. बुद्धिमान लोग बातें करने से ज्ञान को फैलाते हैं, परन्तु मूर्खों का मन ठीक नहीं रहता।

7. The lips of the wise spread knowledge, but not so the heart of fools.

8. दुष्ट लोगों के बलिदान से यहोवा धृणा करता है, परन्तु वह सीधे लोगों की प्रार्थना से प्रसन्न होता है।

8. The LORD abhors the sacrifices of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

9. दुष्ट के चालचलन से यहोवा को घृणा आती है, परन्तु जो धर्म का पीछा करता उस से वह प्रेम रखता है।

9. The LORD abhors the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness.

10. जो मार्ग को छोड़ देता, उसको बड़ी ताड़ना मिलती है, और जो डांट से बैर रखता, वह अवश्य मर जाता है।

10. Severe discipline is for the one who abandons the way; the one who hates reproof will die.

11. जब कि अधोलोक और विनाशलोक यहोवा के साम्हने खुले रहते हैं, तो निश्चय मनुष्यों के मन भी।

11. Death and Destruction are before the LORD how much more the hearts of humans!

12. ठट्ठा करनेवाला डांटे जाने से प्रसन्न नहीं होता, और न वह बुद्धिमानों के पास जाता है।

12. The scorner does not love one who corrects him; he will not go to the wise.

13. मन आनन्दित होने से मुख पर भी प्रसन्नता छा जाती है, परन्तु मन के दु:ख से आत्मा निराश होती है।

13. A joyful heart makes the face cheerful, but by a painful heart the spirit is broken.

14. समझनेवाले का मन ज्ञान की खोज में रहता है, परन्तु मूर्ख लोग मूढ़ता से पेट भरते हैं।

14. The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly.

15. दुखिया के सब दिन दु:ख भरे रहते हैं, परन्तु जिसका मन प्रसन्न रहता है, वह मानो नित्य भोज में जाता है।

15. All the days of the afflicted are bad, but one with a cheerful heart has a continual feast.

16. घबराहट के साथ बहुत रखे हुए धन से, यहोवा के भय के साथ थोड़ा ही धन उत्तम है,

16. Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth and turmoil with it.

17. प्रेम वाले घर में सागपात का भोजन, बैर वाले घर में पाले हुए बैल का मांस खाने से उत्तम है।

17. Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened ox where there is hatred.

18. क्रोधी पुरूष झगड़ा मचाता है, परन्तु जो विलम्ब से क्रोध करनेवाला है, वह मुक मों को दबा देता है।

18. A quick-tempered person stirs up dissension, but one who is slow to anger calms a quarrel.

19. आलसी का मार्ग कांटों से रून्धा हुआ होता है, परन्तु सीधे लोगों का मार्ग राजमार्ग ठहरता है।

19. The way of the sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is like a highway.

20. बुद्धिमान पुत्रा से पिता आनन्दित होता है, परन्तु मूर्ख अपनी माता को तुच्छ जानता है।

20. A wise child brings joy to his father, but a foolish person despises his mother.

21. निर्बुद्धि को मूढ़ता से आनन्द होता है, परन्तु समझवाला मनुष्य सीधी चाल चलता है।

21. Folly is a joy to one who lacks sense, but one who has understanding follows an upright course.

22. बिना सम्मति की कल्पनाएं निष्फल हुआ करती हैं, परन्तु बहुत से मंत्रियों की सम्मत्ति से बात ठहरती है।

22. Plans fail when there is no counsel, but with abundant advisers they are established.

23. सज्जन उत्तर देने से आनन्दित होता है, और अवसर पर कहा हुआ वचन क्या ही भला होता है!

23. A person has joy in giving an appropriate answer, and a word at the right time how good it is!

24. बुद्धिमान के लिये जीवन का मार्ग ऊपर की ओर जाता है, इस रीति से वह अधोलोक में पड़ने से बच जाता है।

24. The path of life is upward for the wise person, to keep him from going downward to Sheol.

25. यहोवा अहंकारियों के घर को ढा देता है, परन्तु विधवा के सिवाने को अटल रखता है।

25. The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but he maintains the boundaries of the widow.

26. बुरी कल्पनाएं यहोवा को घिनौनी लगती हैं, परन्तु शुद्ध जन के वचन मनभावने हैं।

26. The LORD abhors the plans of the wicked, but pleasant words are pure.

27. लालची अपने घराने को दु:ख देता है, परन्तु घूस से घृणा करनेवाला जीवित रहता है।

27. The one who is greedy for gain troubles his household, but whoever hates bribes will live.

28. धर्मी मन में सोचता है कि क्या उत्तर दूं, परन्तु दुष्टों के मुंह से बुरी बातें उबल आती हैं।

28. The heart of the righteous considers how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.

29. यहोवा दुष्टों से दूर रहता है, परन्तु धर्मियों की प्रार्थना सुनता है।

29. The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

30. आंखों की चमक से मन को आनन्द होता है, और अच्छे समाचार से हडि्डयां पुष्ट होती हैं।

30. A bright look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the body.

31. जो जीवनदायी डांट कान लगाकर सुनता है, वह बुद्धिमानों के संग ठिकाना पाता है।

31. The person who hears the reproof that leads to life is at home among the wise.

32. जो शिक्षा को सुनी- अनसुनी करता, वह अपने प्राण को तुच्छ जानता है, परन्तु जो डांट को सुनता, वह बुद्धि प्राप्त करता है।

32. The one who refuses correction despises himself, but whoever hears reproof acquires understanding.

33. यहोवा के भय मानने से शिक्षा प्राप्त होती है, और महिमा से पहिले नम्रता होती है।।

33. The fear of the LORD provides wise instruction, and before honor comes humility.
