1. चांदी की खानि तो होती है, और सोने के लिये भी स्थान होता है जहां लोग ताते हैं।

2. जोहा मिट्टी में से निकाला जाता और पत्थर पिघलाकर पीतल बनाया जाता है

2. where yron is dygged out of the grounde, & stones resolued to metall.

3. मनुष्य अन्धियारे को दूर कर, दूर दूर तक खोद खोद कर, अन्धियारे ओर घोर अन्धकार में पत्थर ढूंढ़ते हैं।

3. The darcknes shal once come to an ende, he can seke out the grounde of all thinges: the stones, the darcke, & the horrible shadowe,

4. जहां लोग रहते हैं वहां से दूर वे खानि खोदते हैं वहां पृथ्वी पर चलनेवालों के भूले बिसरे हुए वे मनुष्यों से दूर लटके हुए झूलते रहते हैं।

4. wt the ryuer of water parteth he a sunder the straunge people, yt knoweth no good neghbourheade: soch as are rude, vnmanerly & boysteous.

5. यह भूमि जो है, इस से रोटी तो मिलती है, परन्तु उसके नीचे के स्थान मानो आग से उलट दिए जाते हैं।

5. He bryngeth foode out of the earth, & yt which is vnder, consumeth he with fyre.

6. उसके पत्थ्र नीलमणि का स्थान हैं, और उसी में सोने की धूलि भी है।

6. There is founde a place, whose stones are clene Saphirs, and where ye clottes of the earth are golde.

7. उसका मार्ग कोई मांसाहारी पक्षी नहीं जानता, और किसी गिठ्ठ की दृष्टि उस पर नहीं पड़ी।

7. There is a waye also that the byrdes knowe not, that no vulturs eye hath sene:

8. उस पर अभिमानी पशुओं ने पांव नहीं धरा, और न उस से होकर कोई सिंह कभी गया है।

8. wherin ye proude & hye mynded walke not, & where no lyon commeth.

9. वह चकमक के पत्थर पर हाथ लगाता, और पहाड़ों को जड़ ही से उलट देता है।

9. There putteth he his honde vpon the stony rockes, & ouerthroweth the mountaynes.

10. वह चट्टान खोदकर नालियां बनाता, और उसकी आंखों को हर एक अनमोल वस्तु दिखाई पड़ती है।

10. Ryuers flowe out of the rockes, & loke what is pleasaunt, his eye seyth it.

11. वह नदियों को ऐसा रोक देता है, कि उन से एक बूंद भी पानी नहीं टपकता और जो कुछ छिपा है उसे वह उजियाले में निकालता है।

11. Out of droppes bryngeth he greate floudes together, & the thinge that is hyd bryngeth he to light.

12. परन्तु बुध्दि कहां मिल सकती है? और समझ का स्थान कहां है?

12. How commeth a man then by wy?dome? Where is the place that men fynde vnderstondinge?

13. उसका मोल मनुष्य को मालूम नहीं, जीवनलोक में वह कहीं नहीं मिलती !

13. Verely no man can tell how worthy a thinge she is, nether is she foude in the lode of the lyuynge.

14. अथाह सागर कहता है, वह मुझ में नहीं है, और समुद्र भी कहता है, वह मेरे पास नहीं है।

14. The depe sayeth: she is not in me. The see sayeth: she is not with me.

15. चोखे सोने से वह मोल लिया नहीं जाता। और न उसके दाम के लिये चान्दी तौली जाती है।

15. She can not be gotten for the most fyne golde, nether maye the pryce of her be bought with eny moneye.

16. न तो उसके साथ ओपीर के कुन्दन की बराबरी हो सकती है; और न अनमोल सुलैमानी पत्थर वा नीलमणि की।

16. No wedges of golde of Ophir, no precious Onix stones, no Saphirs maye be compared vnto her.

17. न सोना, न कांच उसके बराबर ठहर सकता है, कुन्दन के गहने के बदले भी वह नहीं मिलती।

17. No, nether golde ner Christall, nether swete odours ner golden plate.

18. मूंगे और स्फटिकमणि की उसके आगे क्या चर्चा ! बुध्दि का मोल माणिक से भी अधिक है।

18. There is nothinge so worthy, or so excellet, as once to be named vnto her: for parfecte wy?dome goeth farre beyonde the all.

19. कूश देश के पद्मराग उसके तुल्य नहीं ठहर सकते; और न उस से चोखे कुन्दन की बराबरी हो सकती है।

19. The Topas that cometh out of Inde, maye in no wyse be lickened vnto her: yee no maner of apparell how pleasaunt and fayre so euer it be.

20. फिर बुध्दि कहां मिल सकती है? और समझ का स्थान कहां?

20. From whece then commeth wy?dome? & where is the place of vnderstondinge?

21. वह सब प्राणियों की आंखों से छिपी है, और आकाश के पक्षियों के देखने में नहीं आती।

21. She is hyd from the eyes of all men, yee & fro the foules of the ayre.

22. विनाश ओर मृत्यु कहती हैं, कि हमने उसकी चर्चा सुनी है।

22. Destruccion & death saie: we haue herde tell of her wt oure eares.

23. परन्तु परमेश्वर उसका मार्ग समझता है, और उसका स्थान उसको मालूम है।

23. But God seyth hir waie, & knoweth hir place.

24. वह तो पृथ्वी की छोर तक ताकता रहता है, और सारे आकाशमणडल के तले देखता भालता है।

24. For he beholdeth the endes of the worlde, and loketh vpon all that is vnder the heaue.

25. जब उस ने वायु का तौल ठहराया, और जल को नपुए में नापा,

25. When he weyed the wyndes, & measured ye waters:

26. और मेंह के लिये विधि और गर्जन और बिजली के लिये मार्ग ठहराया,

26. when he set the rayne in ordre, and gaue the mightie floudes a lawe:

27. तब उस ने बुध्दि को देखकर उसका बखान भी किया, और उसको सिठ्ठ करके उसका पूरा भेद बूझ लिया।

27. Then dyd he se her, the declared he her, prepared her and knewe her.

28. तब उस न मनुष्य से कहा, देख, प्रभु का भय मानना यही बुध्दि हैे और बुराई से दूर रहना यही समझ है।

28. And vnto man he sayde: Beholde, to feare the LORDE, is wy?dome: & to forsake euell, is vnderstondinge.
