1. तब योना ने उसके पेट में से अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा से प्रार्थना करके कहा,

1. [ 2:2] And Jonah prayed to the Lord his God out of the belly of the whale,

2. मैं ने संकट में पड़े हुए यहोवा की दोहाई दी, और उस ने मेरी सुन ली है; अधोलोक के उदर में से मैं चिल्ला उठा, और तू ने मेरी सुन ली।

2. [ 2:3] and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God, and He hearkened unto me, even to my cry out of the belly of hell: You heard my voice.

3. तू ने मुझे गहिरे सागर में समुद्र की थाह तक डाल दिया; और मैं धाराओं के बीच में पड़ा था, तेरी भड़काई हुई सब तरंग और लहरें मेरे ऊपर से बह गईं।

3. [ 2:4] For You have cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the floods compassed me: all Your billows and Your waves have passed upon me.

4. तब मैं ने कहा, मैं तेरे साम्हने से निकाल दिया गया हूं; तौभी तेरे पवित्रा मन्दिर की ओर फिर ताकूंगा।

4. [ 2:5] And I said, I am cast out of Your presence: shall I indeed look again toward Your holy temple?

5. मैं जल से यहां तक घिरा हुआ था कि मेरे प्राण निकले जाते थे; गहिरा सागर मेरे चारों ओर था, और मेरे सिर में सिवार लिपटा हुआ था।

5. [ 2:6] Water was poured around me to the soul: the lowest deep compassed me, my head went down

6. मैं पहाड़ों की जड़ तक पहुंच गया था; मैं सदा के लिये भूमि में बन्द हो गया था; तौभी हे मेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा, तू ने मेरे प्राणों को गड़हे में से उठाया है।

6. [ 2:7] to the clefts of the mountains; I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers: yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored.

7. जब मैं मूर्छा खाने लगा, तब मैं ने यहोवा को स्मरण किया; और मेरी प्रार्थना तेरे पास वरन तेरे पवित्रा मन्दिर में पहुंच गई।

7. [ 2:8] When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord; and may my prayer come to You into Your holy temple.

8. जो लोग धोखे की व्यर्थ वस्तुओं पर मन लगाते हैं, वे अपने करूणानिधान को छोड़ देते हैं।

8. [ 2:9] Those that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy.

9. परन्तु मैं ऊंचे शब्द से धन्यवाद करके तुझे बलिदान चढ़ाऊंगा; जो मन्नत मैं ने मानी, उसको पूरी करूंगा। उद्धार यहोवा ही से होता है।

9. [ 2:10] But I will sacrifice to You with the voice of praise and thanksgiving: all that I have vowed I will pay to You, the Lord of my salvation.

10. और यहोवा ने मगरमच्छ को आज्ञा दी, और उस ने योना को स्थल पर उगल दिया।।

10. [ 2:11] And the whale was commanded by the Lord, and it cast up Jonah on the dry land.
