1. तब योना ने उसके पेट में से अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा से प्रार्थना करके कहा,

1. Then prayed Jonah, unto Yahweh, his God, out of the belly of the fish;

2. मैं ने संकट में पड़े हुए यहोवा की दोहाई दी, और उस ने मेरी सुन ली है; अधोलोक के उदर में से मैं चिल्ला उठा, और तू ने मेरी सुन ली।

2. and said I cried out of my distress unto Yahweh, and he answered me, Out of the belly of hades, called I, Thou didst hear my voice.

3. तू ने मुझे गहिरे सागर में समुद्र की थाह तक डाल दिया; और मैं धाराओं के बीच में पड़ा था, तेरी भड़काई हुई सब तरंग और लहरें मेरे ऊपर से बह गईं।

3. For thou hast cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and, a flood, enveloped me, All thy breakers and thy rolling waves, over me, passed.

4. तब मैं ने कहा, मैं तेरे साम्हने से निकाल दिया गया हूं; तौभी तेरे पवित्रा मन्दिर की ओर फिर ताकूंगा।

4. And, I, said, I am driven out from before thine eyes, Yet will I again have regard unto thy holy temple:

5. मैं जल से यहां तक घिरा हुआ था कि मेरे प्राण निकले जाते थे; गहिरा सागर मेरे चारों ओर था, और मेरे सिर में सिवार लिपटा हुआ था।

5. The waters, encompassed me, to the peril of my life, The roaring deep, enveloped me, The sea-weed, was wrapped about my head:

6. मैं पहाड़ों की जड़ तक पहुंच गया था; मैं सदा के लिये भूमि में बन्द हो गया था; तौभी हे मेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा, तू ने मेरे प्राणों को गड़हे में से उठाया है।

6. To the roots of the mountains, went I down, As for the earth, her bars, were about me, age-abidingly, Then didst thou bring up out of the pit my life, O Yahweh my God.

7. जब मैं मूर्छा खाने लगा, तब मैं ने यहोवा को स्मरण किया; और मेरी प्रार्थना तेरे पास वरन तेरे पवित्रा मन्दिर में पहुंच गई।

7. When my soul, darkened itself over me, Yahweh, I remembered, and my prayer, came in unto thee, unto thy holy temple.

8. जो लोग धोखे की व्यर्थ वस्तुओं पर मन लगाते हैं, वे अपने करूणानिधान को छोड़ देते हैं।

8. They who take heed to the vanities of falsehood, do, their own lovingkindness, forsake.

9. परन्तु मैं ऊंचे शब्द से धन्यवाद करके तुझे बलिदान चढ़ाऊंगा; जो मन्नत मैं ने मानी, उसको पूरी करूंगा। उद्धार यहोवा ही से होता है।

9. But, I, with the voice of praise, will sacrifice unto thee, What I have vowed, I will pay, Salvation, belongeth to Yahweh!

10. और यहोवा ने मगरमच्छ को आज्ञा दी, और उस ने योना को स्थल पर उगल दिया।।

10. So then Yahweh spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah, upon the dry land.
