1. तब परमेश्वर ने ये सब वचन कहे,

1. Then God said all these words:

2. कि मै तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा हूं, जो तुझे दासत्व के घर अर्थात् मि देश से निकाल लाया है।।

2. 'I am ADONAI your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the abode of slavery.

3. तू मुझे छोड़ दूसरों को ईश्वर करके न मानना।।

3. 'You are to have no other gods before me.

4. तू अपने लिये कोई मूर्ति खोदकर न बनाना, न किसी कि प्रतिमा बनाना, जो आकाश में, वा पृथ्वी पर, वा पृथ्वी के जल में है।

4. You are not to make for yourselves a carved image or any kind of representation of anything in heaven above, on the earth beneath or in the water below the shoreline.

5. तू उनको दण्डवत् न करना, और न उनकी उपासना करना; क्योंकि मै तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा जलन रखने वाला ईश्वर हूं, और जो मुझ से बैर रखते है, उनके बेटों, पोतों, और परपोतों को भी पितरों का दण्ड दिया करता हूं,

5. You are not to bow down to them or serve them; for I, ADONAI your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sins of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

6. और जो मुझ से प्रेम रखते और मेरी आज्ञाओं को मानते हैं, उन हजारों पर करूणा किया करता हूं।।

6. but displaying grace to the thousandth generation of those who love me and obey my [mitzvot].

7. तू अपने परमेश्वर का नाम व्यर्थ न लेना; क्योंकि जो यहोवा का नाम व्यर्थ ले वह उसको निर्दोष न ठहराएगा।।

7. 'You are not to use lightly the name of ADONAI your God, because ADONAI will not leave unpunished someone who uses his name lightly.

8. तू विश्रामदिन को पवित्रा मानने के लिये स्मरण रखना।

8. 'Remember the day, [Shabbat], to set it apart for God.

9. छ: दिन तो तू परिश्रम करके अपना सब काम काज करना;
लूका 13:14

9. You have six days to labor and do all your work,

10. परन्तु सातवां दिन तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा के लिये विश्रामदिन है। उस में न तो तू किसी भांति का काम काज करना, और न तेरा बेटा, न तेरी बेटी, न तेरा दास, न तेरी दासी, न तेरे पशु, न कोई परदेशी जो तेरे फाटकों के भीतर हो।

10. but the seventh day is a [Shabbat] for ADONAI your God. On it, you are not to do any kind of work- not you, your son or your daughter, not your male or female slave, not your livestock, and not the foreigner staying with you inside the gates to your property.

11. क्योंकि छ: दिन में यहोवा ने आकाश, और पृथ्वी, और समुद्र, और जो कुछ उन में है, सब को बनाया, और सातवें दिन विश्राम किया; इस कारण यहोवा ने विश्रामदिन को आशीष दी और उसको पवित्रा ठहराया।।

11. For in six days, ADONAI made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. This is why ADONAI blessed the day, [Shabbat], and separated it for himself.

12. तू अपने पिता और अपनी माता का आदर करना, जिस से जो देश तेरा परमेश्वर यहोवा तुझे देता है उस में तू बहुत दिन तक रहने पाए।।

12. 'Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land which ADONAI your God is giving you.

13. तू खून न करना।।

13. 'Do not murder. 'Do not commit adultery. 'Do not steal. 'Do not give false evidence against your neighbor.

14. तू व्यभिचार न करना।।
मत्ती 5:27, रोमियों 7:7

14. 'Do not covet your neighbor's house; do not covet your neighbor's wife, his male or female slave, his ox, his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.'

15. तू चोरी न करना।।

15. All the people experienced the thunder, the lightning, the sound of the [shofar], and the mountain smoking. When the people saw it, they trembled. Standing at a distance,

16. तू किसी के विरूद्ध झूठी साक्षी न देना।।

16. they said to Moshe, 'You, speak with us; and we will listen. But don't let God speak with us, or we will die.'

17. तू किसी के घर का लालच न करना; न तो किसी की स्त्री का लालच करना, और न किसी के दास- दासी, वा बैल गदहे का, न किसी की किसी वस्तु का लालच करना।।

17. Moshe answered the people, 'Don't be afraid, because God has come only to test you and make you fear him, so that you won't commit sins.'

18. और सब लोग गरजने और बिजली और नरसिंगे के शब्द सुनते, और धुआं उठते हुए पर्वत को देखते रहे, और देखके, कांपकर दूर खड़े हो गए;

18. So the people stood at a distance, but Moshe approached the thick darkness where God was.

19. और वे मूसा से कहने लगे, तू ही हम से बातें कर, तब तो हम सुन सकेंगे; परन्तु परमेश्वर हम से बातें न करे, ऐसा न हो कि हम मर जाएं।

19. ADONAI said to Moshe, 'Here is what you are to say to the people of Isra'el: 'You yourselves have seen that I spoke with you from heaven.

20. मूसा ने लोगों से कहा, डरो मत; क्योंकि परमेश्वर इस निमित्त आया है कि तुम्हारी परीक्षा करे, और उसका भय तुम्हारे मन में बना रहे, कि तुम पाप न करो।

20. You are not to make with me gods of silver, nor are you to make gods of gold for yourselves.

21. और वे लोग तो दूर ही खड़े रहे, परन्तु मूसा उस घोर अन्धकार के समीप गया जहां परमेश्वर था।।

21. For me you need make only an altar of earth; on it you will sacrifice your burnt offerings, peace offerings, sheep, goats and cattle. In every place where I cause my name to be mentioned, I will come to you and bless you.

22. तब यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा, तू इस्त्राएलियों को मेरे ये वचन सुना, कि तुम लोगों ने तो आप ही देखा है कि मै ने तुम्हारे साथ आकाश से बातें की हैं।

22. If you do make me an altar of stone, you are not to build it of cut stones; for if you use a tool on it, you profane it.

23. तुम मेरे साथ किसी को सम्मिलित न करना, अर्थात् अपने लिये चान्दी वा सोने से देवताओं को न गढ़ लेना।

23. Likewise, you are not to use steps to go up to my altar; so that you won't be indecently uncovered.''
