1. तब योआब को यह समाचार मिला, कि राजा अबशालोम के लिये रो रहा है और विलाप कर रहा है।

1. And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.

2. इसलिये उस दिन का विजय सब लोगों की समझ में विलाप ही का कारण बन गया; क्योंकि लोगों ने उस दिन सुना, कि राजा अपने बेटे के लिये खेदित है।

2. And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son.

3. और उस दिन लोग ऐसा मुंह चुराकर नगर में घुसे, जैसा लोग युठ्ठ से भाग आने से लज्जित होकर मुंह चुराते हैं।

3. And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

4. और राजा मुंह ढांपे हुए चिल्ला चिल्लाकर पुकारता रहा, कि हाय मेरे बेटे अबशालोम ! हाय अबशालोम, मेरे बेटे, मेरे बेटे !

4. But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!

5. तब योआब घर में राजा के पास जाकर कहने लगा, तेरे कर्मचारियों ने आज के दिन तेरा, और तेरे बेटे- बेटियों का और तेरी पत्नियों और रखेलियों का प्राण तो बचाया है, परन्तु तू ते आज के दिन उन सभों का मुंह काला किया है;

5. And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;

6. इसलिये कि तू अपने बैरियों से प्रेम और अपने प्रेमियों से बैर रखता है। तू ने आज यह प्रगट किया कि तुझे हाकिमों और कर्मचारियों की कुछ चिन्ता नहीं; वरन मैं ने आज जान लिया, कि यदि हम सब आज मारे जाते और अबशालोम जीवित रहता, तो तू बहुत प्रसन्न होता।

6. In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

7. इसलिये अब उठकर बाहर जा, और अपने कर्मचारियों को शान्ति दे; तहीं तो मैं यहोवा की शपथ खाकर कहता हूँ, कि यदि तू बाहर न जाएगा, तो आज रात को एक मनुष्य भी तेरे संग न रहेगा; और तेरे बचपन से लेकर अब तक जितनी विपत्तियां तुझ पर पड़ी हैं उन सब से यह विपत्ति बड़ी होगी।

7. Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by YHWH, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.

8. तब राजा उठकर फाटक में जा बैठा। और जब सब लोगों को यह बताया गया, कि राजा फाटक में बैठा है; तब सब लोग राजा के साम्हने आए। और इस्राएली अपने अपने डेरे को भाग गए थे।

8. Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent.

9. और इस्राएल के सब गोत्रों में सब लोग आपस में यह कहकर ढगड़ते थे, कि राजा ने हमें हमारे शत्रुओं के हाथ से बचाया था, और पलिश्तियों के हाथ से उसी ने हमें छुड़ाया; परन्तु अब वह अबशालोम के डर के मारे देश छोड़कर भाग गया।

9. And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom.

10. और अबशालोम जिसको हम ने अपना राजा होने को अभिषेक किया था, वह युठ्ठ में मर गया है। तो अब तुम क्यों चुप रहते? और जाजा को लौटा ले अपने की चर्चा क्यों नहीं करते?

10. And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?

11. तब राजा दाऊद ने सादोक और एब्यातार याजकों के पास कहला भेजा, कि यहूदी पुरनियों से कहो, कि तुम लोग राजा को भवन पहुंचाने के लिये सब से पीछे क्यों होते हो जब कि समस्त इस्राएल की बातचीत राजा के सुनने में आई है, कि उसको भवन में पहुंचाए?

11. And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house.

12. तुम लोग तो मेरे भाई, वरन मेरी ही हड्डी और मांस हो; तो तुम राजा को लौटाने में सब के पीछे क्यों होते हो?

12. Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?

13. फिर अमासा से यह कहो, कि क्या तू मेरी हड्डी और मांस नहीं है? और यदि तू योआब के स्थान पर सदा के लिये सेनापति न ठहरे, तो परमेश्वर मुझ से वैसा ही वरन उस से भी अधिक करे।

13. And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? Elohim do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.

14. इस प्रकार उस ने सब यहूदी पुरूषों के मन ऐसे अपनी ओर खींच लिया कि मानों एक ही पुरूष था; और उन्हों ने राजा के पास कहला भेजा, कि तू अपने सब कर्पचारियों को संग लेकर लौट आ।

14. And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

15. तब राजा लौटकर यरदन तक आ गया; और यहूदी लोग गिलगाल तक गए कि उस से मिलकर उसे यरदन पार ले आए।

15. So the king returned, and came to Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over Jordan.

16. यहूदियों के संग गेरा का पुत्रा बिन्यामीनी शिमी भी जो बहूरीमी था फुत करके राजा दाऊद से भेंट करने को गया;

16. And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which was of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

17. उसके संग हज़ार बिन्यामीनी पुरूष थे। और शाऊल के घराने का कर्मचारी सीबा अपने पन्द्रह पुत्रों और बीस दासों समेत था, और वे राजा के साम्हने यरदन के पार पांव पैदल उतर गए।

17. And there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over Jordan before the king.

18. और एक बेड़ा राजा के परिवार को पार ले आने, और जिस काम में वह उसे लगाने चाहे उसी में लगने के लिये पार गया। और जब राजा यरदन पार जाने पर था, तब गेरा का पुत्रा शिमी उसके पावों पर गिरके,

18. And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the kings household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan;

19. राजा से कहने लगा, मेरा प्रभु मेरे दोष का लेखा न करे, और जिस दिन मेरा प्रभु राजा यरूशलेम को छोड़ आया, उस दिन तेरे दास ने जो कुटिल काम किया, उसे ऐसा स्मरण न कर कि राजा उसे अपने ध्यान में रखे।

19. And said unto the king, Let not my master impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my master the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

20. क्योंकि तेरा दास जानता है कि मैं ने पाप किया; देख, आज अपने प्रभु राजा से भेंट करने के लिये यूसुफ के समस्त घ्राने में से मैं ही पहिला आया हूँ।

20. For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my master the king.

21. तब सरूयाह के पुत्रा अबीशै ने कहा, शिमी ने जो यहोवा के अभिषिक्त को शाप दिया था, इस कारण क्या उसको वध करना न चाहिये?

21. But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed YHWHs anointed?

22. दाऊद ने कहा, हे सरूयाह के बेटों, मुझे तुम से क्या काम, कि तुम आज मेरे विरोधी ठहरे हो? आज क्या इस्राएल में किसी को प्राण दणड मिलेगा? क्या मैं नहीं जानता कि आज मैं इस्राएल का राजा हुआ हूँ?

22. And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

23. फिर राजा ने शिमी से कहा, तुझे प्राण दणड न मिलेगा। और राजा ने उस से शपथ भी खाई।

23. Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

24. तब शाऊल का पोता मपीबोशेत राजा से भेंट करने को आया; उस ने राजा के चले जाने के दिन से उसके कुशल क्षेम से फिर आने के दिन तक न अपने पावों के नाखून काटे, और न अपनी दाढी बनवाई, और न अपने कपड़े धुलवाए थे।

24. And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace.

25. तो जब यरूशलेमी राजा से मिलने को गए, तब राजा ने उस से पूछा, हे मपीबोशेत, तू मेरे संग क्यों नहीं गया था?

25. And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?

26. उस ने कहा, हे मेरे प्रभु, हे राजा, मेरे कर्मचारी ने मुझे धोखा दिया था; तेरा दास जो पंगु है; इसलिये तेरे दास ने सोचा, कि मैं गदहे पर काठी कसवाकर उस पर चढ़ राजा के साथ चला जाऊंगा।

26. And he answered, My master, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.

27. और मेरे कर्मचारी ने मेरे प्रभु राजा के साम्हने मेरी चुगली खाई। परन्तु मेरा प्रभु राजा परमेश्वर के दूत के समान है; और जो कुछ तुझे भाए वही कर।

27. And he hath slandered thy servant unto my master the king; but my master the king is as an angel of Elohim: do therefore what is good in thine eyes.

28. मेरे पिता का समस्त घराना तेरी ओर से प्राण दणड के योग्य था; परन्तु तू ने अपने दास को अपनी मेज पर खानेवालों में गिना है। मुझे क्या हक है कि मैं राजा की ओर दोहाई दूं?

28. For all of my fathers house were but dead men before my master the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?

29. राजा ने उस से कहा, तू अपनी बात की चर्चा क्सों करता रहता है? मेरी आज्ञा यह है, कि उस भूमि को तुम और सीबा दोनों आपस में बांट लो।

29. And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

30. मपीबोशेत ने राजा से कहा, मेरे प्रभु राजा जो कुशल क्षेम से अपने घर आया है, इसलिये सीबा ही सब कुछ ले ले।

30. And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my master the king is come again in peace unto his own house.

31. तब गिलादी बर्जिल्लै रोगलीम से आया, और राजा के साथ यरदन पार गया, कि उसको यरदन के पार पहुंचाए।

31. And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.

32. बर्जिल्लै तो वृठ्ठ पुरूष था, अर्थात् अस्सी पर्ष की आयु का था जब तक राजा महनैम में रहता था तब तक वह उसका पालन पोषण करता रहा; क्योंकि वह बहुत धनी था।

32. Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

33. तब राजा ने बर्जिल्लै से कहा, मेरे संग पार चल, और मैं तुझे यरूशलेम में अपने पास रखकर तेरा पालन पोषण करूंगा।

33. And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

34. बर्जिल्लै ने राजा से कहा, मुझे कितने दिन जीवित रहना है, कि मैं राजा के संग यरूशलेंम को जाऊं?

34. And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?

35. आज मैं अस्सी वर्ष का हूँ; क्या मैं भले- बुरे का विवेक कर सकता हूँ? क्या तेरा दास जो कुछ खाता पीता है उसका स्वाद पहिचान सकता है? क्या मुझे गवैरयों वा गायिकाओं का शब्द अब सुन पड़ता है? तेरा दास अब अपने प्रभु राजा के लिये क्यों बोझ का कारण हो?

35. I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my master the king?

36. तेरे दास राजा के संग यरदन पार ही तक जाएगा। राजा इसका ऐसा बड़ा बदला मुझे क्यों दे?

36. Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?

37. अपने दास को लौटने दे, कि मैं अपने ही नगर में अपने माता पिता के कब्रिस्तान के पास मरूं। परन्तु तेरा दास किम्हाम उपस्थित है; मेरे प्रभु राजा के संग वह पार जाए; और जैसा तुझे भाए वैया ही उस से व्यवहार करना।

37. Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my master the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.

38. राजा ने कहा, हां, किम्हान मेरे संग पार चलेगा, और जैसा तुझे भाए वैसा ही मैं उस से व्यवहार करूंगा वरन जो कुछ तू मुझ से चाहेगा वह मैं तेरे लिये करूंगा।

38. And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.

39. तब सब लोग यरदन पार गए, और राजा भी पार हुआ; तब राजा ने बर्जिल्लै को चूमकर आशीर्वाद दिया, और वह अपने स्थान को लौट गया।

39. And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.

40. तब राजा गिल्गाल की ओर पार गया, और उसके संग किम्हाम पार हुआ; और सब सहूदी लोगों ने और आधे इस्राएली लोगों ने राजा को पार पहुंचाया।

40. Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.

41. तब सब इस्राएली पुरूष राजा के पास आए, और राजा से कहने लगे, क्या कारण है कि हमारे यहूदी भाई तुझे चोरी से ले आए, और परिवार समेत राजा को और उसके सब जनों को भी यरदन पार ले आए हैं?

41. And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all Davids men with him, over Jordan?

42. सब यहूदी पुरूषों ने इस्राएली पुरूषों को उत्तर दिया, कि कारण यह है कि राजा हमारे गोत्रा का है। तो तुम लोग इस बात से क्यों रूठ गए हो? क्या हम ने राजा का दिया हुआ कुछ खाया है? वा उस ने हमें कुछ दान दिया है?

42. And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the kings cost? or hath he given us any gift?

43. इस्राएली पुरूषों ने यहूदी पुरूषों को उत्तर दिया, राजा में दस अंश हमारे हैं; और दाऊद में हमारा भाग तुम्हारे भाग से बड़ा है। तो फिर तुम ने हमें क्यों तुच्छ जाना? क्या अपने राजा के लौटा ले आने की चर्चा पहिले हम ही ने न की थी? और यहूदी पुरूषों ने इस्राएली पुरूषों से अधिक कड़ी बातें कहीं।

43. And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
