1. तब यूसुफ अपने पिता के मुंह पर गिरकर रोया और उसे चूमा।

1. And Joseph fell upon the face of his father, and wept upon him and kissed him.

2. और यूसुफ ने उन वैद्यों को, जो उसके सेवक थे, आज्ञा दी, कि मेरे पिता की लोथ में सुगन्धद्रव्य भरो; तब वैद्यों ने इस्राएल की लोथ में सुगन्धद्रव्य भर दिए।

2. Then Joseph commanded his servants the physicians, to embalm his father, so the physicians embalmed Israel.

3. और उसके चालीस दिन पूरे हुए। क्योंकि जिनकी लोथ में सुगन्धद्रव्य भरे जाते हैं, उनको इतने ही दिन पूरे लगते हैं : और मिद्दी लोग उसके लिये सत्तर दिन तक विलाप करते रहे।।

3. And they fulfilled for him forty days, for so, are they wont to fulfil the days of the embalmed, and the Egyptians wept for him seventy days.

4. जब उसके विलाप के दिन बीत गए, तब यूसुफ फिरौन के घराने के लोगों से कहने लगा, यदि तुम्हारी अनुग्रह की दृष्टि मुझ पर हो तो मेरी यह बिनती फिरौन को सुनाओ,

4. And, when the days of weeping for him were passed, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh saying, If I pray you, I have found favour in your eyes, speak ye I pray you in the ears of Pharaoh saying:

5. कि मेरे पिता ने यह कहकर, कि देख मैं मरने पर हूं, मुझे यह शपथ खिलाई, कि जो कबर तू ने अपने लिये कनान देश में खुदवाई है उसी में मैं तुझे मिट्टी दूंगा इसलिये अब मुझे वहां जाकर अपने पिता को मिट्टी देने की आज्ञा दे, तत्पश्चात् मैं लौट आऊंगा।

5. My father, made me swear saying, Lo! I, am about to die, in my grave which I digged for myself in the land of Canaan, there, shalt thou bury me. Now, therefore, let me go up, I pray thee and bury my father, and return.

6. तब फिरौन ने कहा, जाकर अपने पिता की खिलाई हुई शपथ के अनुसार उनको मिट्टी दे।

6. And Pharaoh said, Go up., and bury thy father according as he made thee swear.

7. सो यूसुफ अपने पिता को मिट्टी देने के लिये चला, और फिरौन के सब कर्मचारी, अर्थात् उसके भवन के पुरनिये, और मि देश के सब पुरनिये उसके संग चले।

7. So Joseph went up. to bury his father, and there went up with him all the servants of Pharaoh the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt;

8. और यूसुफ के घर के सब लोग, और उसके भाई, और उसके पिता के घर के सब लोग भी संग गए; पर वे अपने बालबच्चों, और भेड़- बकरियों, और गाय- बैलों को गोशेन देश में छोड़ गए।

8. and all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and the house of his father, only their little ones and their flocks and their herds, left they. in the land of Goshen.

9. और उसके संग रथ और सवार गए, सो भीड़ बहुत भारी हो गई।

9. And there went up with him, both chariots and horsemen, so it came to pass that, the company, was exceeding great,

10. जब वे आताद के खलिहान तक, जो यरदन नदी के पार है पहुंचे, तब वहां अत्यन्त भारी विलाप किया, और यूसुफ ने अपने पिता के सात दिन का विलाप कराया।

10. And they came in, as far as the threshing-floor of the Buckthorn, which is beyond the Jordan, then wailed they there an exceeding great and grievous walling, and he made for his father a mourning, of seven days.

11. आताद के खलिहान में के विलाप को देखकर उस देश के निवासी कनानियों ने कहा, यह तो मिस्त्रियों का कोई भारी विलाप होगा, इसी कारण उस स्थान का नाम आबेलमि ैम पड़ा, और वह यरदन के पार है।

11. And when the dwellers in the land the Canaanites saw the mourning in the threshing-floor of the Buckthorn, they said, A grievous mourning, this! for the Egyptians. For this cause, was the name thereof called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.

12. और इस्राएल के पुत्रों ने उस से वही काम किया जिसकी उस ने उनको आज्ञा दी थी:

12. And his sons did for him thus as he had commanded them;

13. अर्थात् उन्हों ने उसको कनान देश में ले जाकर मकपेला की उस भूमिवाली गुफा में, जो मम्रे के साम्हने हैं, मिट्टी दी; जिसको इब्राहीम ने हित्ती एप्रोन के हाथ से इस निमित्त मोल लिया था, कि वह कबरिस्तान के लिये उसकी निज भूमि हो।।

13. so his sons carried him to the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace from Ephron the Hittite over against Mamre.

14. अपने पिता को मिट्टी देकर यूसुफ अपने भाइयों और उन सब समेत, जो उसके पिता को मिट्टी देने के लिये उसके संग गए थे, मि में लौट आया।

14. Then Joseph returned to Egypt he and his brethren and all who had been up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

15. जब यूसुफ के भाइयों ने देखा कि हमारा पिता मर गया है, तब कहने लगे, कदाचित् यूसुफ अब हमारे पीछे पडे,़ और जितनी बुराई हम ने उस से की थी सब का पूरा पलटा हम से ले।

15. Now when the brethren of Joseph saw that their father was dead, they said Oh! if Joseph should lie in wait for us, and should return, to us, all the evil wherewith we requited him!

16. इसलिये उन्हों ने यूसुफ के पास यह कहला भेजा, कि तेरे पिता ने मरने से पहिले हमें यह आज्ञा दी थी,

16. So they sent in charge unto Joseph saying, Thy father, gave command before he died saying:

17. कि तुम लोग यूसुफ से इस प्रकार कहना, कि हम बिनती करते हैं, कि तू अपने भाइयों के अपराध और पाप को क्षमा कर; हम ने तुझ से बुराई तो की थी, पर अब अपने पिता के परमेश्वर के दासों का अपराध क्षमा कर। उनकी ये बातें सुनकर यूसुफ रो पड़ा।

17. Thus, shall ye say to Joseph Ah now! do forgive we pray thee the transgression of thy brethren and their sin in that with evil, they requited thee. Now, therefore grant forgiveness we pray thee, for the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father! And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

18. और उसके भाई आप भी जाकर उसके साम्हने गिर पड़े, और कहा, देख, हम तेरे दास हैं।

18. Then went his brethren also, and fell down before him, and said, Behold us! thine for servants.

19. यूसुफ ने उन से कहा, मत डरो, क्या मैं परमेश्वर की जगह पर हूं ?

19. And Joseph said unto them Do not fear, although in place of God, I am.

20. यद्यपि तुम लोगों ने मेरे लिये बुराई का विचार किया था; परन्तु परमेश्वर ने उसी बात में भलाई का विचार किया, जिस से वह ऐसा करे, जैसा आज के दिन प्रगट है, कि बहुत से लोगों के प्राण बचे हैं।

20. Ye, indeed, planned against me, evil, God, planned it, for good, for the sake of doing, as at this day, to save alive much people.

21. सो अब मत डरो : मैं तुम्हारा और तुम्हारे बाल- बच्चों का पालन पोषण करता रहूंगा; इस प्रकार उस ने उनको समझा बुझाकर शान्ति दी।।

21. Now, therefore do not fear! I will nourish you and your little ones. Thus he consoled them, and spake unto their heart.

22. और यूसुफ अपने पिता के घराने समेत मि में रहता रहा, और यूसुफ एक सौ दस वर्ष जीवित रहा।

22. And Joseph abode in Egypt, he, and his fathers house, and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.

23. और यूसुफ एप्रैम के परपोतों तक देखने पाया : और मनश्शे के पोते, जो माकीर के पुत्रा थे, वे उत्पन्न होकर यूसुफ से गोद में लिए गए।

23. And Joseph saw Ephraim's, sons of three generations moreover the sons of Machir, son of Manasseh, were born upon Joseph's knees.

24. और यूसुफ ने अपने भाइयों से कहा मैं तो मरने पर हूं; परन्तु परमेश्वर निश्चय तुम्हारी सुधि लेगा, और तुम्हें इस देश से निकालकर उस देश में पहुंचा देगा, जिसके देने की उस ने इब्राहीम, इसहाक, और याकूब से शपथ खाई थी।
इब्रानियों 11:22

24. Then said Joseph unto his brethren, I, am about to die, but God will surely concern, himself for you, so will he take you up out of this land, into the land which he sware to Abraham to Isaac and to Jacob.

25. फिर यूसुफ ने इस्राएलियों से यह कहकर, कि परमेश्वर निश्चय तुम्हारी सुधि लेगा, उनको इस विषय की शपथ खिलाई, कि हम तेरी हडि्डयों को वहां से उस देश में ले जाएंगे।

25. Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear saying, God will, surely concern, himself for you, So shall ye carry up my bones, from hence.

26. निदान यूसुफ एक सौ दस वर्ष का होकर मर गया : और उसकी लोथ में सुगन्धद्रव्य भरे गए, और वह लोथ मि में एक सन्दूक में रखी गई।।

26. So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old, and they embalmed him, and put him in a coffin in Egypt.
