1. इन बातों के पश्चात् ऐसा हुआ, कि मि के राजा के पिलानेहारे और पकानेहारे ने अपने स्वामी का कुछ अपराध किया।

1. And it came to pass after these things, [that] the butler of the king of Egypt and [his] baker had sinned against their lord, the king of Egypt.

2. तब फिरौन ने अपने उन दोनों हाकिमों पर, अर्थात् पिलानेहारे के प्रधान, और पकानेहारों के प्रधान पर क्रोधित होकर

2. And Pharaoh was angry against his two officers, against the chief of the butlers and against the chief of the bakers.

3. उन्हें कैद कराके, जल्लादों के प्रधान के घर के उसी बन्दीगृह में, जहां यूसुफ बन्धुआ था, डलवा दिया।

3. And he put them in prison in the house of the captain of the guard, into the house of the prison where Joseph [was] bound.

4. तब जल्लादों के प्रधान ने उनको यूसुफ के हाथ सौपा, और वह उनकी सेवा टहल करने लगा: सो वे कुछ दिन तक बन्दीगृह में रहे।

4. And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; and they continued for days in prison.

5. और मि के राजा का पिलानेहारा और पकानेहारा, जो बन्दीगृह में बन्द थे, उन दोनों ने एक ही रात में, अपने अपने होनहार के अनुसार, स्वप्न देखा।

5. And both of them dreamed a dream, each man his dream in the same night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who [were] bound in the prison.

6. बिहान को जब यूसुफ उनके पास अन्दर गया, तब उन पर उस ने जो दृष्टि की, तो क्या देखता है, कि वे उदास हैं।

6. And Joseph came in unto them in the morning and looked upon them, and, behold, they [were] sad.

7. सो उस ने फिरौन के उन हाकिमों से, जो उसके साथ उसके स्वामी के घर के बन्दीगृह में थे, पूछा, कि आज तुम्हारे मुंह क्यों उदास हैं ?

7. And he asked Pharaoh's officers that [were] with him in the prison of his lord's house, saying, Why look ye so sad today?

8. उन्हों ने उस से कहा, हम दोनो ने स्वप्न देखा है, और उनके फल का बतानेवाला कोई भी नहीं। यूसुफ ने उन से कहा, क्या स्वप्नों का फल कहना परमेश्वर का काम नहीं है? मुझे अपना अपना स्वप्न बताओ।

8. And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and [there is] no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, [Do] not interpretations [belong] to God? Tell me [the dreams], I pray you.

9. तब पिलानेहारों का प्रधान अपना स्वप्न यूसुफ को यों बताने लगा: कि मैं ने स्वप्न में देखा, कि मेरे साम्हने एक दाखलता है;

9. Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine [was] before me,

10. और उस दाखलता में तीन डालियां हैं: और उस में मानो कलियां लगीं हैं, और वे फूलीं और उसके गुच्छों में दाख लगकर पक गई।

10. and in the vine [were] three branches, and it [was] as though it budded [and] her blossoms shot forth, and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes;

11. और फिरौन का कटोरा मेरे हाथ में था: सो मै ने उन दाखों को लेकर फिरौन के कटोरे में निचोड़ा और कटोरे को फिरौन के हाथ में दिया।

11. and Pharaoh's cup [was] in my hand, and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

12. यूसुफ ने उस से कहा, इसका फल यह है; कि तीन डालियों का अर्थ तीन दिन है:

12. And Joseph said unto him, This [is] the interpretation of it: The three branches [are] three days;

13. सो अब से तीन दिन के भीतर फिरौन तेरा सिर ऊंचा करेगा, और फिर से तेरे पद पर तुझे नियुक्त करेगा, और तू पहले की नाई फिरौन का पिलानेहारा होकर उसका कटोरा उसके हाथ में फिर दिया करेगा।

13. yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head and restore thee unto thy place, and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

14. सो जब तेरा भला हो जाए तब मुझे स्मरण करना, और मुझ पर कृपा करके, फिरौन से मेरी चर्चा चलाना, और इस घर से मुझे छुड़वा देना।

14. Therefore thou shalt think of me within thyself when it shall be well with thee, and show mercy, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh and bring me out of this house;

15. क्योंकि सचमुच इब्रानियों के देश से मुझे चुरा कर ले आए हैं, और यहां भी मै ने कोई ऐसा काम नहीं किया, जिसके कारण मैं इस कारागार में डाला जाऊं।

15. for indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews; neither have I done anything here that they should put me into the prison.

16. यह देखकर, कि उसके स्वप्न का फल अच्छा निकला, पकानेहारों के प्रधान ने यूसुफ से कहा, मैं ने भी स्वप्न देखा है, वह यह है: मै ने देखा, कि मेरे सिर पर सफेद रोटी की तीन टोकरियां है:

16. When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also [was] in my dream, and, behold, [I had] three white baskets on my head;

17. और ऊपर की टोकरी में फिरौन के लिये सब प्रकार की पकी पकाई वस्तुएं हैं; और पक्षी मेरे सिर पर की टोकरी में से उन वस्तुओं को खा रहे हैं।

17. and in the uppermost basket [there was] of all manner of baked foods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.

18. यूसुफ ने कहा, इसका फल यह है; कि तीन टोकरियों का अर्थ तीन दिन है।

18. Then Joseph answered and said, This [is] the interpretation thereof: The three baskets [are] three days.

19. सो अब से तीन दिन के भीतर फिरौन तेरा सिर कटवाकर तुझे एक वृक्ष पर टंगवा देगा, और पक्षी तेरे मांस को नोच नोच कर खाएंगे।

19. Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee and shall hang thee on a tree, and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

20. और तीसरे दिन फिरौन का जन्मदिन था, उस ने अपने सब कर्मचारियों की जेवनार की, और उन में से पिलानेहारों के प्रधान, और पकानेहारों के प्रधान दोनों को बन्दीगृह से निकलवाया।

20. And it came to pass the third day, [which was] Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a banquet unto all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

21. और पिलानेहारों के प्रधान को तो पिलानेहारे के पद पर फिर से नियुक्त किया, और वह फिरौन के हाथ में कटोरा देने लगा।

21. And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

22. पर पकानेहारों के प्रधान को उस ने टंगवा दिया, जैसा कि यूसुफ ने उनके स्वप्नों का फल उन से कहा था।

22. But he hanged the chief baker; as Joseph had interpreted to them.

23. फिर भी पिलानेहारों के प्रधान ने यूसुफ को स्मरण न रखा; परन्तु उसे भूल गया।।

23. Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph but forgot him.:
