1. जब इसहाक बूढ़ा हो गया, और उसकी आंखें ऐसी धुंधली पड़ गई, कि उसको सूझता न था, तब उस ने अपने जेठे पुत्रा एसाव को बुलाकर कहा, हे मेरे पुत्रा; उस ने कहा, क्या आज्ञा।

1. And it came to pass, that when Isaac became old, and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called Esau, his eldest son, and said unto him, My son, and he said unto him, Behold, [here am] I.

2. उस ने कहा, सुन, मैं तो बूढ़ा हो गया हूं, और नहीं जानता कि मेरी मृत्यु का दिन कब होगा :

2. And he said, Behold now, I am old: I know not the day of my death.

3. सो अब तू अपना तरकश और धनुष आदि हथियार लेकर मैदान में जा, और मेरे लिये हिरन का अहेर कर ले आ।

3. Now, therefore, take I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow and go out to the field and take me [some] venison

4. तब मेरी रूचि के अनुसार स्वादिष्ट भोजन बनाकर मेरे पास ले आना, कि मै उसे खाकर मरने से पहले तुझे जी भर के आशीर्वाद दूं।

4. and make me savoury food, such as I love, and bring [it] to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless thee before I die.

5. तब एसाव अहेर करने को मैदान में गया। जब इसहाक एसाव से यह बात कह रहा था, तब रिबका सुन रही थी।

5. And Rebekah heard when Isaac spoke to Esau, his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt [for] venison [and] to bring [it].

6. सो उस ने अपने पुत्रा याकूब से कहा सुन, मैं ने तेरे पिता को तेरे भाई एसाव से यह कहते सुना,

6. Then Rebekah spoke unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau, thy brother, saying,

7. कि तू मेरे लिये अहेर करके उसका स्वादिष्ट भोजन बना, कि मैं उसे खाकर तुझे यहोवा के आगे मरने से पहिले आशीर्वाद दूं

7. Bring me venison and make me savoury food that I may eat and bless thee before the LORD before my death.

8. सो अब, हे मेरे पुत्रा, मेरी सुन, और यह आज्ञा मान,

8. Now, therefore, my son, hearken unto my voice according to that which I command thee.

9. कि बकरियों के पास जाकर बकरियों के दो अच्छे अच्छे बच्चे ले आ; और मैं तेरे पिता के लिये उसकी रूचि के अनुसार उन के मांस का स्वादिष्ट भोजन बनाऊंगी।

9. Go now to the flock and bring me from there two good kids of the goats, and I will make them savoury food for thy father, such as he loves;

10. तब तू उसको अपने पिता के पास ले जाना, कि वह उसे खाकर मरने से पहिले तुझ को आशीर्वाद दे।

10. and thou shalt bring [it] to thy father that he may eat and that he may bless thee before his death.

11. याकूब ने अपनी माता रिबका से कहा, सुन, मेरा भाई एसाव तो रोंआर पुरूष है, और मैं रोमहीन पुरूष हूं।

11. And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau, my brother, [is] a hairy man, and I [am] a smooth man;

12. कदाचित् मेरा पिता मुझे टटोलने लगे, तो मैं उसकी दृष्टि में ठग ठहरूंगा; और आशीष के बदले शाप ही कमाऊंगा।

12. my father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon myself, and not a blessing.

13. उसकी माता ने उस से कहा, हे मेरे, पुत्रा, शाप तुझ पर नहीं मुझी पर पड़े, तू केवल मेरी सुन, और जाकर वे बच्चे मेरे पास ले आ।

13. And his mother said unto him, Upon me [be] thy curse, my son; only obey my voice and go bring me [them].

14. तब याकूब जाकर उनको अपनी माता के पास ले आया, और माता ने उसके पिता की रूचि के अनुसार स्वादिष्ट भोजन बना दिया।

14. And he went and took them and brought [them] to his mother, and his mother made savoury food, such as his father loved.

15. तब रिबका ने अपने पहिलौठे पुत्रा एसाव के सुन्दर वस्त्रा, जो उसके पास घर में थे, लेकर अपने लहुरे पुत्रा याकूब को पहिना दिए।

15. And Rebekah took good clothes of her eldest son Esau, which [were] with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob, her younger son:

16. और बकरियों के बच्चों की खालों को उसके हाथों में और उसके चिकने गले में लपेट दिया।

16. And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands and upon the smooth of his neck,

17. और वह स्वादिष्ट भोजन और अपनी बनाई हुई रोटी भी अपने पुत्रा याकूब के हाथ में दे दी।

17. and she gave the savoury food and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.

18. सो वह अपने पिता के पास गया, और कहा, हे मेरे पिता : उस ने कहा क्या बात है ? हे मेरे पुत्रा, तू कौन है ?

18. And he came unto his father and said, My father, and he said, Here [am] I; who [art] thou, my son?

19. याकूब ने अपने पिता से कहा, मैं तेरा जेठा पुत्रा एसाव हूं। मैं ने तेरी आज्ञा मे अनुसार किया है; सो उठ और बैठकर मेरे अहेर के मांस में से खा, कि तू जी से मुझे आशीर्वाद दे।

19. And Jacob said unto his father, I [am] Esau, thy firstborn; I have done according as thou didst command me; arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

20. इसहाक ने अपने पुत्रा से कहा, हे मेरे पुत्रा, क्या कारण है कि वह तुझे इतनी जल्दी मिल गया ? उस ने यह उत्तर दिया, कि तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने उसको मेरे साम्हने कर दिया।

20. Then Isaac said unto his son, How [is it] that thou hast found [it] so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought [it] to me.

21. फिर इसहाक ने याकूब से कहा, हे मेरे पुत्रा, निकट आ, मैं तुझे टटोलकर जानूं, कि तू सचमुच मेरा पुत्रा एसाव है वा नहीं।

21. And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou [be] my very son Esau or not.

22. तब याकूब अपने पिता इसहाक के निकट गया, और उस ने उसको टटोलकर कहा, बोल तो याकूब का सा है, पर हाथ एसाव ही के से जान पड़ते हैं।

22. And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him and said, The voice [is] Jacob's voice, but the hands [are] the hands of Esau.

23. और उस ने उसको नहीं चीन्हा, क्योंकि उसके हाथ उसके भाई के से रोंआर थे।

23. And he discerned him not because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands; so he blessed him.

24. और उस ने पूछा, क्या तू सचमुच मेरा पुत्रा एसाव है ? उस ने कहा मैं हूं।

24. And he said, [Art] thou my very son Esau? And he said, I [am].

25. तब उस ने कहा, भोजन को मेरे निकट ले आ, कि मैं, अपने पुत्रा के अहेर के मांस में से खाकर, तुझे जी से आशीर्वाद दूं। तब वह उसको उसके निकट ले आया, और उस ने खाया; और वह उसके पास दाखमधु भी लाया, और उस ने पिया।

25. And he said, Bring [it] near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought [it] near to him, and he ate; and he brought him wine, and he drank.

26. तब उसके पिता इसहाक ने उस से कहा, हे मेरे पुत्रा निकट आकर मुझे चूम।

26. And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now and kiss me, my son.

27. उस ने निकट जाकर उसको चूमा। और उस ने उसके वस्त्रों को सुगन्ध पाकर उसको वह आशीर्वाद दिया, कि देख, मेरे पुत्रा का सुगन्ध जो ऐसे खेत का सा है जिस पर यहोवा ने आशीष दी हो :

27. And he came near and kissed him, and he smelled the smell of his clothing and blessed him and said, See, the smell of my son [is] as the smell of a field which the LORD has blessed.

28. सो परमेश्वर तुझे आकाश से ओस, और भूमि की उत्तम से उत्तम उपज, और बहुत सा अनाज और नया दाखमधु दे :

28. Therefore [let] God give thee of the dew of heaven and of the fatness of the earth and plenty of wheat and new wine.

29. राज्य राज्य के लोग तेरे अधीन हों, और देश देश के लोग तुझे दण्डवत् करें : तू अपने भाइयों का स्वामी हो, और तेरी माता के पुत्रा तुझे दण्डवत् करें : जो तुझे शाप दें सो आप ही स्रापित हों, और जो तुझे आशीर्वाद दें सो आशीष पाएं।।

29. Let the peoples serve thee and nations bow down to thee; be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee; cursed [be] every one that curses thee, and blessed [be] he that blesses thee.

30. यह आशीर्वाद इसहाक याकूब को दे ही चुका, और याकूब अपने पिता इसहाक के साम्हने से निकला ही था, कि एसाव अहेर लेकर आ पहुंचा।
इब्रानियों 11:20

30. And it came to pass as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

31. तब वह भी स्वादिष्ट भोजन बनाकर अपने पिता के पास ले आया, और उस ने कहा, हे मेरे पिता, उठकर अपने पुत्रा के अहेर का मांस खा, ताकि मुझे जी से आशीर्वाद दे।

31. And he also had made savory food and brought it unto his father and said unto his father, Let my father arise and eat of his son's venison that thy soul may bless me.

32. उसके पिता इसहाक ने पूछा, तू कौन है ? उस ने कहा, मैं तेरा जेठा पुत्रा एसाव हूं।

32. And Isaac his father said unto him, Who [art] thou? And he said, I [am] thy son, thy firstborn Esau.

33. तब इसहाक ने अत्यन्त थरथर कांपते हुए कहा, फिर वह कौन था जो अहेर करके मेरे पास ले आया था, और मैं ने तेरे आने से पहिले सब में से कुछ कुछ खा लिया और उसको आशीर्वाद दिया ? वरन उसको आशीष लगी भी रहेगी।

33. Then Isaac trembled very exceedingly and said, Who [is] he that has taken venison and brought [it to] me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest? I have blessed him and he shall be blessed.

34. अपने पिता की यह बात सुनते ही एसाव ने अत्यन्त ऊंचे और दु:ख भरे स्वर से चिल्लाकर अपने पिता से कहा, हे मेरे पिता, मुझ को भी आशीर्वाद दे।

34. And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry and said unto his father, Bless me, [even] me also, O my father.

35. उस ने कहा, तेरा भाई धूर्तता से आया, और तेरे आशीर्वाद को लेके चला गया।

35. And he said, Thy brother came with deceit and has taken away thy blessing.

36. उस ने कहा, क्या उसका नाम याकूब यथार्थ नहीं रखा गया ? उस ने मुझे दो बार अड़ंगा मारा, मेरा पहिलौठे का अधिकार तो उस ने ले ही लिया था : और अब देख, उस ने मेरा आशीर्वाद भी ले लिया है : फिर उस ने कहा, क्या तू ने मेरे लिये भी कोई आशीर्वाद नहीं सोच रखा है ?

36. And he said, Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times; he took away my birthright, and, behold, now he has taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?

37. इसहाक ने एसाव को उत्तर देकर कहा, सुन, मैं ने उसको तेरा स्वामी ठहराया, और उसके सब भाइयों को उसके अधीन कर दिया, और अनाज और नया दाखमधु देकर उसको पुष्ट किया है : सो अब, हे मेरे पुत्रा, मैं तेरे लिये क्या करूं ?

37. And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren I have given to him for servants, and with wheat and new wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now unto thee, my son?

38. एसाव ने अपने पिता से कहा हे मेरे पिता, क्या तेरे मन में एक ही आशीर्वाद है ? हे मेरे पिता, मुझ को भी आशीर्वाद दे : यों कहकर एसाव फूट फूटके रोया।

38. And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? Bless me, [even] me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.

39. उसके पिता इसहाक ने उस से कहा, सुन, तेरा निवास उपजाऊ भूमि पर हो, और ऊपर से आकाश की ओस उस पर पड़े।।

39. Then Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth and of the dew of the heavens from above,

40. और तू अपनी तलवार के बल से जीवित रहे, और अपने भाई के अधीन तो होए, पर जब तू स्वाधीन हो जाएगा, तब उसके जूए को अपने कन्धे पर से तोड़ फेंके।

40. and by thy sword shalt thou live and shalt serve thy brother; yet there shall be a time when thou shalt have dominion, and thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

41. एसाव ने तो याकूब से अपने पिता के दिए हुए आशीर्वाद के कारण बैर रखा; सो उस ने सोचा, कि मेरे पिता के अन्तकाल का दिन निकट है, फिर मैं अपने भाई याकूब को घात करूंगा।

41. And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will slay my brother Jacob.

42. जब रिबका को अपने पहिलौठे पुत्रा एसाव की ये बातें बताई गई, तब उस ने अपने लहुरे पुत्रा याकूब को बुलाकर कहा, सुन, तेरा भाई एसाव तुझे घात करने के लिये अपने मन को धीरज दे रहा है।

42. And these words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebekah; and she sent and called Jacob her younger son and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as concerning thee, does comfort himself, [purposing] to kill thee.

43. सो अब, हे मेरे पुत्रा, मेरी सुन, और हारान को मेरे भाई लाबान के पास भाग जा ;

43. Now therefore, my son, hear my voice and arise; flee unto Laban, my brother, to Haran

44. और थोड़े दिन तक, अर्थात् जब तक तेरे भाई का क्रोध न उतरे तब तक उसी के पास रहना।

44. and dwell with him a few days until thy brother's fury turns away,

45. फिर जब तेरे भाई का क्रोध ने उतरे, और जो काम तू ने उस से किया है उसको वह भूल जाए; तब मैं तुझे वहां से बुलवा भेजूंगी : ऐसा क्यों हो कि एक ही दिन में मुझे तुम दोनों से रहित होना पड़े ?

45. until thy brother's anger turns away from thee, and he forgets [that] which thou hast done to him; then I will send, and bring thee from there; for why should I be deprived of you both in one day?

46. फिर रिबका ने इसहाक से कहा, हित्ती लड़कियों के कारण मैं अपने प्राण से घिन करती हूं; सो यदि ऐसी हित्ती लड़कियों में से, जैसी इस देश की लड़कियां हैं, याकूब भी एक को कहीं ब्याह ले, तो मेरे जीवन में क्या लाभ होगा?

46. And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these [who are] of the daughters of this land, why should I want to live?:
