1. पलिश्तियों ने अपनी समस्त सेना को अपेक में इकट्ठा किया; और इस्राएली यिज्रेल के निकट के सोते के पास डेरे डाले हुए थे।

1. Now the Philistines gathered together all their hosts, towards Aphek, and, the Israelites, were encamping by the fountain, that is in Jezreel.

2. तब पलिश्तियों के सरदार अपने अपने सैकड़ों और हजारों समेत आगे बढ़ गए, और सेना के पीछे पीछे आकीश के साथ दाऊद भी अपने जनों समेत बढ़ गया।

2. And, the lords of the Philistines, were passing on by hundreds, and by thousands, but, David and his men, were passing on in the rear, with Achish.

3. तब पलिश्ती हाकिमों ने पूछा, इन इब्रियों का यहां क्या काम है? आकीश ने पलिश्ती सरदारों से कहा, क्या वह इस्राएल के राजा शाऊल का कर्मचारी दाऊद नहीं है, जो क्या जाने कितने दिनों से वरन वर्षो से मेरे साथ रहता है, और जब से वह भाग आया, तब से आज तक मैने उस में कोई दोष नहीं पाया।

3. Then said the princes of the Philistines, What are these Hebrews doing ? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines Is not this David, servant of Saul king of Israel, who hath been with me this year, or two, and I have found in him nothing, from the day of his coming over unto me unto this day?

4. तब पलिश्ती हाकिम उस से क्रोधित हुए; और उस से कहा, उस पुरूष को लौटा दे, कि वह उस स्थान पर जाए जो तू ने उसके लिये ठहराया है; वह हमारे संग लड़ाई में न आने पाएगा, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि वह लड़ाई में हमारा विराधी बन जाए। फिर वह अपने स्वामी से किस रीति से मेल करे? क्या लोगों के सिर कटवाकर न करेगा?

4. But the princes of the Philistines raged against him, and the princes of the Philistines said unto him Let the man go back, that he may return unto the place which thou didst appoint him, and let him not go down with us, into battle, so shall he not become to us a traitor, in the battle, for, wherewith, should this fellow gain favour with his lord? Would it not be with the heads of those men?

5. क्या यह वही दाऊद नहीं है, जिसके विषय में लोग नाचते और गाते हुए एक दूसरे से कहते थे, कि शाऊल ने हजारों को , पर दाऊद ने लाखों को मारा है?

5. Is not this David, of whom they made responses in the dances, saying, Saul, hath smitten, his thousands, But, David, his, tens of thousands?

6. तब आकीश ने दाऊद को बुलाकर उस से कहा, यहोवा के जीवन की शपथ तू तो सीधा है, और सेना में तेरा मेरे संग आना जाना भी मुझे भावता है; क्योंकि जब से तू मेरे पास आया तब से लेकर आज तक मैं ने तो तुझ में कोई बुराई नहीं पाई। तौभी सरदार लोग तुझे नहीं चाहते।

6. So Achish called for David, and said unto him By the life of Yahweh, surely, upright, thou art, and, pleasing in mine eyes, have been thy going out and thy coming in with me, in the host, for I have found in thee no wrong, from the day of thy coming in unto me, until this day, but, in the eyes of the lords, displeasing, thou art.

7. इसलिये अब तू कुशल से लौट जा; ऐसा न हो कि पलिश्ती सरदार तुझ से अप्रसन्न हों।

7. Now, therefore, return, and go in peace, so shalt thou not do wrong in the eyes of the lords of the Philistines.

8. दाऊद ने आकीश से कहा, मैं ने क्या किया है? और जब से मैं तेरे साम्हने आया तब से आज तक तू ने अपने दास में क्या पाया है कि अपने प्रभु राजा के शत्रुओं से लड़ने न पाऊं?

8. Then said David unto Achish But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant, from the day that I came before thee, unto this day, that I may not go in and fight, with the enemies of my lord the king.

9. आकीश ने दाऊद को उत्तर देकर कहा, हां, यह मुझे मालूम है, तू मेरी दृष्टि में तो परमेश्वर के दूत के समान अच्छा लगता है; तौभी पलिश्ती हाकिमों ने कहा है, कि वह हमारे संग लड़ाई में ने जाने पाएगा।

9. Then answered Achish, and said unto David, I acknowledge that, pleasing, thou art in mine eyes, as a messenger of God, notwithstanding, the princes of the Philistines, have said, He shall not go up with us, into the battle.

10. इसलिये अब तू अपने प्रभु के सेवकों को लेकर जो तेरे साथ आए हैं बिहान को तड़के उठना; और तुम बिहान को लड़के उठकर उजियाला होते ही चले जाना।

10. Now, therefore, rise up early in the morning, thou and the servants of thy lord who have come with thee, yea, as soon as ye have risen early in the morning, and have light, then depart.

11. इसलिये बिहान को दाऊद अपने जनों समेत तड़के उठकर पलिश्तियों के देश को लौअ गया। और पलिश्ती यिज्रेल को चढ़ गए।।

11. So David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines, but, the Philistines, went up to Jezreel.
