1. नाओमी के पति एलीमेलेक के कुल में उसका एक बड़ा धनी कुटुम्बी था, जिसका नाम बोअज था।

1. And Naomi hath an acquaintance of her husband's, a man mighty in wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name [is] Boaz.

2. और मोआबिन रूत ने नाओमी से कहा, मुझे किसी खेत में जाने दे, कि जो मुझ पर अनुग्रह की दृष्टि करे, उसके पीछे पीछे मैं सिला बीनती जाऊं। उस ने कहा, चली जा, बेटी।

2. And Ruth the Moabitess saith unto Naomi, 'Let me go, I pray thee, into the field, and I gather among the ears of corn after him in whose eyes I find grace;' and she saith to her, 'Go, my daughter.'

3. सो वह जाकर एक खेत में लवनेवालों के पीछे बीनने लगी, और जिस खेत में वह संयोग से गई थी वह एलीमेलेक के कुटुम्बी बोअज का था।

3. And she goeth and cometh and gathereth in a field after the reapers, and her chance happeneth -- the portion of the field is Boaz's who [is] of the family of Elimelech.

4. और बोअज बेतलेहेम से आकर लवनेवालों से कहने लगा, यहोवा तुम्हारे संग रहे, और वे उस से बोले, यहोवा तुझे आशीष दे।

4. And lo, Boaz hath come from Beth-Lehem, and saith to the reapers, 'Jehovah [is] with you;' and they say to him, 'Jehovah doth bless thee.'

5. तब बोअज ने अपने उस सेवक से जो लवनेवालों के ऊपर ठहराया गया था पूछा, वह किस की कन्या है।

5. And Boaz saith to his young man who is set over the reapers, 'Whose [is] this young person?'

6. जो सेवक लवनेवालों के ऊपर ठहराया गया था उस ने उत्तर दिया, वह मोआबिन कन्या है, जो नाओमी के संग मोआब देश से लौट आई है।

6. And the young man who is set over the reapers answereth and saith, 'A young woman -- Moabitess -- she [is], who came back with Naomi from the fields of Moab,

7. उस ने कहा था, मुझे लवनेवालों के पीछे पीछे पूलों के बीच बीनने और बालें बटोरने दे। तो वह आई, और भोर से अब तक यहीं है, केवल थोड़ी देर तक घर में रही थी।

7. and she saith, Let me glean, I pray thee -- and I have gathered among the sheaves after the reapers; and she cometh and remaineth since the morning and till now; she sat in the house a little.

8. तब बोअज ने रूत से कहा, हे मेरी बेटी, क्या तू सुनती है? किसी दूसरे के खेत में बीनने को न जाना, मेरी ही दासियों के संग यहीं रहना।

8. And Boaz saith unto Ruth, 'Hast thou not heard, my daughter? go not to glean in another field, and also, pass not over from this, and thus thou dost cleave to my young women:

9. जिस खेत को वे लवतीं हों उसी पर तेरा ध्यान बन्धा रहे, और उन्हीं के पीछे पीछे चला करना। क्या मैं ने जवानों को आज्ञा नहीं दी, कि तुझ से न बोलें? और जब जब तुझे प्यास लगे, तब तब तू बरतनों के पास जाकर जवानों का भरा हुआ पानी पीना।

9. thine eyes [are] on the field which they reap, and thou hast gone after them; have not I charged the young men not to touch thee? when thou art athirst then thou hast gone unto the vessels, and hast drunk from that which the young men draw.'

10. तब वह भूमि तक झुककर मुंह के बल गिरी, और उस से कहने लगी, क्या कारण है कि तू ने मुझ परदेशिन पर अनुग्रह की दृष्टि करके मेरी सुधि ली है?

10. And she falleth on her face, and boweth herself to the earth, and saith unto him, 'Wherefore have I found grace in thine eyes, to discern me, and I a stranger?'

11. बोअज ने उत्तर दिया, जो कुछ तू ने पति मरने के पीछे अपनी सास से किया है, और तू किस रीति अपने माता पिता और जन्मभूमि को छोड़कर ऐसे लोगों में आई है जिनको पहिले तू ने जानती थी, यह सब मुझे विस्तार के साथ बताया गया है।

11. And Boaz answereth and saith to her, 'It hath thoroughly been declared to me all that thou hast done with thy mother-in-law, after the death of thy husband, and thou dost leave thy father, and thy mother, and the land of thy birth, and dost come in unto a people which thou hast not known heretofore.

12. यहोवा तेरी करनी का फल दे, और इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यहोवा जिसके पंखों के तले तू शरण लेने आई है तुझे पूरा बदला दें

12. Jehovah doth recompense thy work, and thy reward is complete from Jehovah, God of Israel, under whose wings thou hast come to take refuge.'

13. उस ने कहा, हे मेरे प्रभु, तेरे अनुग्रह की दृष्टि मुझ पर बनी रहे, क्योंकि यद्यपि मैं तेरी दासियों में से किसी के भी बराबर नहीं हूं, तौभी तू ने अपनी दासी के मन में पैठनेवाली बातें कहकर मुझे शान्ति दी है।

13. And she saith, 'Let me find grace in thine eyes, my lord, because thou hast comforted me, and because thou hast spoken unto the heart of thy maid-servant, and I -- I am not as one of thy maid-servants.'

14. फिर खाने के समय बोअज ने उस से कहा, यहीं आकर रोटी खा, और अपना कौर सिरके में बोर। तो वह लवनेवालों के पास बैठ गई; और उस ने उसको भुनी हुई बालें दी; और वह खाकर तृप्त हुई, वरन कुछ बचा भी रखा।

14. And Boaz saith to her, 'At meal-time come nigh hither, and thou hast eaten of the bread, and dipped thy morsel in the vinegar.' And she sitteth at the side of the reapers, and he reacheth to her roasted corn, and she eateth, and is satisfied, and leaveth.

15. जब वह बीनने को उठी, तब बोअज ने अपने जवानों को आज्ञा दी, कि उसको पूलों के बीच बीच में भी बीनने दो, और दोष मत लगाओ।

15. And she riseth to glean, and Boaz chargeth his young men, saying, 'Even between the sheaves she doth glean, and ye do not cause her to blush;

16. वरन मुट्ठी भर जाने पर कुछ कुछ निकाल कर गिरा भी दिया करो, और उसके बीनने के लिये छोड़ दो, और उसे घुड़को मत।

16. and also ye do surely cast to her of the handfuls -- and have left, and she hath gleaned, and ye do not push against her.'

17. सो वह सांझ तक खेत में बीनती रही; तब जो कुछ बीन चुकी उसे फटका, और वह कोई एपा भर जौ निकला।

17. And she gleaneth in the field till the evening, and beateth out that which she hath gleaned, and it is about an ephah of barley;

18. तब वह उसे उठाकर नगर में गई, और उसकी सास ने उसका बीना हुआ देखा, और जो कुछ उस ने तृप्त होकर बचाया था उसको उस ने निकालकर अपनी सास को दिया।

18. and she taketh [it] up, and goeth into the city, and her mother-in-law seeth that which she hath gleaned, and she bringeth out and giveth to her that which she left from her satiety.

19. उसकी सास ने उस से पूछा, आज तू कहां बीनती, और कहां काम करती थी? धन्य वह हो जिस ने तेरी सुधि ली है। तब उस ने अपनी सास को बता दिया, कि मैं ने किस के पास काम किया, और कहा, कि जिस पुरूष के पास मैं ने आज काम किया उसका नाम बोअज है।

19. And her mother-in-law saith to her, 'Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? may he who is discerning thee be blessed.' And she declareth to her mother-in-law with whom she hath wrought, and saith, 'The name of the man with whom I have wrought to-day [is] Boaz.'

20. नाओमी ने अपनी बहू से कहा, वह यहोवा की ओर से आशीष पाए, क्योंकि उस ने न तो जीवित पर से और न मरे हुओं पर से अपनी करूणा हटाई! फिर नाओमी ने उस से कहा, वह पुरूष तो हमारा कुटुम्बी है, वरन उन में से है जिनको हमारी भूमि छुड़ाने का अधिकार है।

20. And Naomi saith to her daughter-in-law, 'Blessed [is] he of Jehovah who hath not forsaken His kindness with the living and with the dead;' and Naomi saith to her, 'The man is a relation of ours; he [is] of our redeemers.'

21. फिर रूत मोआबिन बोली, उस ने मुझ से यह भी कहा, कि जब तक मेरे सेवक मेरी कटनी पूरी न कर चुकें तब तक उन्हीं के संग संग लगी रह।

21. And Ruth the Moabitess saith, 'Also he surely said unto me, Near the young people whom I have thou dost cleave till they have completed the whole of the harvest which I have.'

22. नाओमी ने अपनी बहु रूत से कहा, मेरी बेटी यह अच्छा भी है, कि तू उसी की दासियों के साथ साथ जाया करे, और वे तुझ को दूसरे के खेत में न मिलें।

22. And Naomi saith unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, 'Good, my daughter, that thou goest out with his young women, and they come not against thee in another field.'

23. इसलिये रूत जौ और गेहूं दोनों की कटनी के अन्त तक बीनने के लिये बोअज की दासियों के साथ साथ लगी रही; और अपनी सास के यहां रहती थी।।

23. And she cleaveth to the young women of Boaz to glean, till the completion of the barley-harvest, and of the wheat-harvest, and she dwelleth with her mother-in-law.
