1. जिसका यह विश्वास है कि यीशु ही मसीह है, वह परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुआ है और जो कोई उत्पन्न करनेवाले से प्रेम रखता है, वह उस से भी प्रेम रखता है, जो उस से उत्पन्न हुआ है।

1. Whosoeuer beleeueth that Iesus is that Christ, is borne of God: and euery one that loueth him, which begate, loueth him also which is begotten of him.

2. जब हम परमेश्वर से प्रेम रखते हैं, और उस की आज्ञाओं को मानते हैं, तो इसी से हम जानते हैं, कि परमेश्वर की सन्तानों से प्रेम रखते हैं।

2. In this we know that we loue the children of God, when we loue God, and keepe his commandements.

3. और परमेश्वर का प्रेम यह है, कि हम उस की आज्ञाओं को मानें; और उस की आज्ञाएं कठिन नहीं।

3. For this is the loue of God, that we keepe his commandements: and his commandements are not burdenous.

4. क्योंकि जो कुछ परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुआ है, वह संसार पर जय प्राप्त करता है, और वह विजय जिस से संसार पर जय प्राप्त होती है हमारा विश्वास है।

4. For all that is borne of God, ouercommeth this world: and this is that victorie that hath ouercome this world, euen our faith.

5. संसार पर जय पानेवाला कौन है? केवल वह जिस का विश्वास है, कि यीशु, परमेश्वर का पुत्रा है।

5. Who is it that ouercommeth this world, but he which beleeueth that Iesus is that Sonne of God?

6. यही है वह, जो पानी और लोहू के द्वारा आया था; अर्थात् यीशु मसीह: वह न केवल पानी के द्वारा, बरन पानी और लोहू दोनों के द्वारा आया था।

6. This is that Iesus Christ that came by water and blood: not by water onely, but by water and blood: and it is that Spirit, that beareth witnesse: for that Spirit is trueth.

7. और जो गवाही देता है, वह आत्मा है; क्योंकि आत्मा सत्य है।

7. For there are three, which beare recorde in heauen, the Father, the Worde, and the holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8. और गवाही देनेवाले तीन हैं; आत्मा, और पानी, और लोहू; और तीनों एक ही बात पर सम्मत हैं।

8. And there are three, which beare record in the earth, the spirit, and the water and the blood: and these three agree in one.

9. जब हम मनुष्यों की गवाही मान लेते हैं, तो परमेश्वर की गवाही तो उस से बढ़कर है; और परमेश्वर की गवाही यह है, कि उस ने अपने पुत्रा के विषय में गवाही दी है।

9. If we receiue the witnesse of men, the witnesse of God is greater: for this is the witnesse of God, which he testified of his Sonne.

10. जो परमेश्वर के पुत्रा पर विश्वास करता है, वह अपने ही में गवाही रखता है; जिस ने परमेश्वर को प्रतीति नहीं की, उस ने उसे झूठा ठहराया; क्योंकि उस ने उस गवाही पर विश्वास नहीं किया, जो परमेश्वर ने अपने पुत्रा के विषय में दी है।

10. He that beleeueth in that Sonne of God, hath the witnes in himselfe: he that beleeueth not God, hath made him a lyar, because he beleeued not ye record, that God witnessed of that his Sonne.

11. और वह गवाही यह है, कि परमेश्वर ने हमें अनन्त जीवन दिया है: और यह जीवन उसके पुत्रा में है।

11. And this is that record, to wit, that God hath giuen vnto vs eternall life, and this life is in that his Sonne.

12. जिस के पास पुत्रा है, उसके पास जीवन है; और जिस के पास परमेश्वर का पुत्रा नहीं, उसके पास जीवन भी नहीं है।।

12. He that hath that Sonne, hath that life: and he that hath not that Sonne of God, hath not that life.

13. मैं ने तुम्हें, जो परमेश्वर के पुत्रा के नाम पर विश्वास करते हो, इसलिये लिखा है; कि तुम जानो, कि अनन्त जीवन तुम्हारा है।

13. These things haue I written vnto you, that beleeue in the Name of that Sonne of God, that ye may knowe that ye haue eternall life, and that ye may beleeue in the Name of that Sonne of God.

14. और हमें उसके साम्हने जो हियाव होता है, वह यह है; कि यदि हम उस की इच्छा के अनुसार कुछ मांगते हैं, तो हमारी सुनता है।

14. And this is that assurance, that we haue in him, that if we aske any thing according to his will, he heareth vs.

15. और जब हम जानते हैं, कि जो कुछ हम मांगते हैं वह हमारी सुनता है, तो यह भी जानते हैं, कि जो कुछ हम ने उस से मांगा, वह पाया है।

15. And if we know that he heareth vs, whatsoeuer we aske, we know that we haue the petitions, that we haue desired of him.

16. यदि कोई अपने भाई को ऐसा पाप करते देखे, जिस का फल मृत्यु न हो, तो बिनती करे, और परमेश्वर, उसे, उन के लिये, जिन्हों ने ऐसा पाप किया है जिस का फल मृत्यु है: इस के विषय में मै बिनती करने के लिये नहीं कहता।

16. If any man see his brother sinne a sinne that is not vnto death, let him aske, and he shall giue him life for them that sinne not vnto death. There is a sinne vnto death: I say not that thou shouldest pray for it.

17. सब प्रकार का अधर्म तो पाप है, परन्तु ऐसा पाप भी है, जिस का फल मृत्यु नहीं।।

17. All vnrighteousnesse is sinne, but there is a sinne not vnto death.

18. हम जानते हैं, कि जो कोई परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुआ है, वह पाप नहीं करता; जो परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुआ, उसे वह बचाए रखता है: और वह दुष्ट उसे छूने नहीं पाता।

18. We know that whosoeuer is borne of God, sinneth not: but he that is begotten of God, keepeth himselfe, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19. हम जानते हैं, कि हम परमेश्वर से हैं, और सारा संसार उस दुष्ट के वंश में पड़ा है।

19. We knowe that we are of God, and this whole world lieth in wickednesse.

20. और यह भी जानते हैं, कि परमेश्वर का पुत्रा आ गया है और उस ने हमें समझ दी है, कि हम उस सच्चे को पहचानें, और हम उस में जो सत्य है, अर्थात् उसके पुत्रा यीशु मसीह में रहते हैं: सच्चा परमेश्वर और अनन्त जीवन यही है।

20. But we know that that Sone of God is come, and hath giue vs a mind to know him, which is true: and we are in him that is true, that is, in that his Sone Iesus Christ: this same is that very God, and that eternal life.

21. हे बालको, अपने आप को मुरतों से बचाए रखो।।
