1. Mi britheren, nyle ye haue the feith of oure Lord Jhesu Crist of glorie, in accepcioun of persoones.

2. क्योंकि यदि एक पुरूष सोने के छल्ले और सुन्दर वस्त्रा पहिने हुए तुम्हारी सभा में आए और एक कंगाल भी मैले कुचैले कपड़े पहिने हुए आए।

2. For if a man `that hath a goldun ring, and in a feire clothing, cometh in youre cumpany, and a pore man entrith in a foul clothing,

3. और तुम उस सुन्दर वस्त्रावाले का मुंह देखकर कहो कि तू वहां अच्छी जगह बैठ; और उस कंगाल से कहो, कि तू यहां खड़ा रह, या मेरे पांव की पीढ़ी के पास बैठ।

3. and if ye biholden in to hym that is clothid with clere clothing, and if ye seie to hym, Sitte thou here wel; but to the pore man ye seien, Stonde thou there, ethir sitte vndur the stool of my feet; whether ye demen not anentis you silf,

4. तो क्या तुम ने आपस में भेद भाव न किया और कुविचार से न्याय करनेवाले न ठहरे?

4. and ben maad domesmen of wickid thouytis?

5. हे मेरे प्रिय भाइयों सुनो; क्या परमेश्वर ने इस जगत के कंगालों को नहीं चुना कि विश्वास में धर्मी, और उस राज्य के अधिकारी हों, जिस की प्रतिज्ञा उस ने उन से की है जो उस से प्रेम रखते हैं?

5. Heere ye, my moost dereworthe britheren, whethir God chees not pore men in this world, riche in feith, and eiris of the kyngdom, that God bihiyte to men that louen him?

6. पर तुम ने उस कंगाल का अपमान किया: क्या धनी लोग तुम पर अत्याचार नहीं करते और क्या वे ही तुम्हें कचहरियों में घसीट घसीट कर नहीं ले जाते?

6. But ye han dispisid the pore man. Whether riche men oppressen not you bi power, and thei drawen you to domes?

7. क्या वे उस उत्तम नाम की निन्दा नहीं करते जिस के तुम कहलाए जाते हो?

7. Whether thei blasfemen not the good name, that is clepid to help on you?

8. तौभी यदि तुम पवित्रा शास्त्रा के इस वचन के अनुसार, कि तू अपने पड़ोसी से अपने समान प्रेम रख, सचमुच उस राज्य व्यवस्था को पूरी करते हो, तो अच्छा करते हो।

8. Netheles if ye performen the kingis lawe, bi scripturis, Thou schalt loue thi neiybour as thi silf, ye don wel.

9. पर यदि तुम पक्षपात करते हो, तो पाप करते हो; और व्यवस्था तुम्हें अपराधी ठहराती है।

10. क्योंकि जो कोई सारी व्यवस्था का पालन करता है परन्तु एक ही बात में चूक जाए तो वह सब बातों मे दोषी ठहरा।

10. And who euere kepith al the lawe, but offendith in oon, he is maad gilti of alle.

11. इसलिये कि जिस ने यह कहा, कि तू व्यभिचार न करना उसी ने यह भी कहा, कि तू हत्या न करना इसलिये यदि तू ने व्यभिचार तो नहीं किया, पर हत्या की तौभी तू व्यवस्था का उलंघन करने वाला ठहरा।

11. For he that seide, Thou schalt do no letcherie, seide also, Thou schalt not sle; that if thou doist not letcherie, but thou sleest, thou art maad trespassour of the lawe.

12. तुम उन लोगों की नाई वचन बोलो, और काम भी करो, जिन का न्याय स्वतंत्राता की व्यवस्था के अनुसार होगा।

12. Thus speke ye, and thus do ye, as bigynnynge to be demyd bi the lawe of fredom.

13. क्योंकि जिस ने दया नहीं की, उसका न्याय बिना दया के होगा: दया न्याय पर जयवन्त होती है।।

13. For whi dom with out merci is to hym, that doith no mercy; but merci aboue reisith dom.

14. हे मेरे भाइयों, यदि कोई कहे कि मुझे विश्वास है पर वह कर्म न करता हो, तो उस से क्या लाभ? क्या ऐसा विश्वास कभी उसका उद्धार कर सकता है?

14. Mi britheren, what schal it profite, if ony man seie that he hath feith, but he hath not the werkis? whether feith schal mowe saue hym?

15. यदि कोई भाई या बहिन नगें उघाड़े हों, और उन्हें प्रति दिन भोजन की घटी हो।

15. And if a brother ethir sister be nakid, and han nede of ech daies lyuelode,

16. और तुम में से कोई उन से कहे, कुशल से जाओ, तुम गरम रहो और तृप्त रहो; पर जो वस्तुएं देह के लिये आवश्यक हैं वह उन्हें न दे, तो क्या लाभ?

16. and if ony of you seie to hem, Go ye in pees, be ye maad hoot, and be ye fillid; but if ye yyuen not to hem tho thingis that ben necessarie to bodi, what schal it profite?

17. वैसे ही विश्वास भी, यदि कर्म सहित न हो तो अपने स्वभाव में मरा हुआ है।

17. So also feith, if it hath not werkis, is deed in it silf.

18. बरन कोई कह सकता है कि तुझे विश्वास है, और मैं कर्म करता हूं: तू अपना विश्वास मुझे कर्म बिना तो दिखा; और मैं अपना विश्वास अपने कर्मों के द्वारा तुझे दिखाऊंगा।

18. But summan schal seie, Thou hast feith, and Y haue werkis; schewe thou to me thi feith with out werkis, and Y schal schewe to thee my feith of werkis.

19. तुझे विश्वास है कि एक ही परमेश्वर है: तू अच्छा करता है: दुष्टात्मा भी विश्वास रखते, और थरथराते हैं।

19. Thou bileuest, that o God is; thou doist wel; and deuelis bileuen, and tremblen.

20. पर हे निकम्मे मनुष्य क्या तू यह भी नहीं जानता, कि कर्म बिना विश्वास व्यर्थ है?

20. But wolt thou wite, thou veyn man, that feith with out werkis is idul?

21. जब हमारे पिता इब्राहीम ने अपने पुत्रा इसहाक को वेदी पर चढ़ाया, तो क्या वह कर्मो से धार्मिक न ठहरा था।

21. Whether Abraham, oure fadir, was not iustified of werkis, offringe Ysaac, his sone, on the auter?

22. सो तू ने देख लिया कि विश्वास ने उस के कामों के साथ मिलकर प्रभाव डाला है और कर्मो से विश्वास सिद्ध हुआ।

22. Therfor thou seest, that feith wrouyte with hise werkis, and his feith was fillid of werkis.

23. और पवित्रा शास्त्रा का यह वचन पूरा हुआ, कि इब्राहीम ने परमेश्वर की प्रतीति की, और यह उसके लिये धर्म गिना गया, और वह परमेश्वर का मित्रा कहलाया।

23. And the scripture was fillid, seiynge, Abraham bileuede to God, and it was arettid to hym to riytwisnesse, and he was clepid the freend of God.

24. सो तुम ने देख लिया कि मनुष्य केवल विश्वास से ही नहीं, बरन कर्मों से भी धर्मी ठहरता है।

24. Ye seen that a man is iustified of werkis, and not of feith oneli.

25. वैसे ही राहाब वेश्या भी जब उस ने दूतों को अपने घर में उतारा, और दूसरे मार्ग से विदा किया, तो क्या कर्मों से धार्मिक न ठहरी?

25. In lijk maner, and whether also Raab, the hoore, was not iustified of werkis, and resseyuede the messangeris, and sente hem out bi anothir weie?

26. निदान, जैसे देह आत्मा बिना मरी हुई है वैसा ही विश्वास भी कर्म बिना मरा हुआ है।।

26. For as the bodi with out spirit is deed, so also feith with out werkis is deed.
