1. हे आकाश, कान लगा, कि मैं बोलूं; और हे पृथ्वी, मेरे मुंह की बातें सुन।।

1. Attend, O heaven, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words out of my mouth.

2. मेरा उपदेश मेंह की नाईं बरसेगा और मेरी बातें ओस की नाईं टपकेंगी, जैसे कि हरी घास पर झीसी, और पौधों पर झड़ियां।।

2. Let my speech be looked for as the rain, and my words come down as dew, as the shower upon the herbage, and as snow upon the grass.

3. मैं तो याहोवा नाम का प्रचार करूंगा। तुम अपने परमेश्वर की महिमा को मानो!

3. For I have called on the name of the Lord; ascribe greatness to our God.

4. वह चट्टान है, उसका काम खरा है; और उसकी सारी गति न्याय की है। वह सच्चा ईश्वर है, उस में कुटिलता नहीं, वह धर्मी और सीधा है।।

4. [As for God], His works [are] true, and all His ways [are] judgment: God [is] faithful, and there is no unrighteousness [in Him]; just and holy [is] the Lord.

5. परन्तु इसी जाति के लोग टेढ़े और तिर्छे हैं; ये बिगड़ गए, ये उसके पुत्रा नहीं; यह उनका कलंक है।।

5. They have sinned, not [pleasing] Him; spotted children, a crooked and perverse generation.

6. हे मूढ़ और निर्बुद्धि लोगों, क्या तुम यहोवा को यह बदला देते हो? क्या वह तेरा पिता नहीं है, जिस ने तुम को मोल लिया है? उस ने तुम को बनाया और स्थिर भी किया है।।

6. Do you thus recompense the Lord? O foolish and unwise people. Did not He Himself, your Father, purchase you, and make you, and form you?

7. प्राचीनकाल के दिनों को स्मरण करो, पीढ़ी पीढ़ी के वर्षों को विचारो; अपने बाप से पूछो, और वह तुम को बताएगा; अपने वृद्ध लोगों से प्रश्न करो, और वे तुझ से कह देंगे।।

7. Remember the days of old, consider the years for past ages; ask your father, and he shall relate to you, [ask] your elders, and they shall tell you.

8. जब परमप्रधान ने एक एक जाति को निज निज भाग बांट दिया, और आदमियों को अलग अलग बसाया, तब उस ने देश देश के लोगों के सिवाने इस्राएलियों की गिनती के अनुसार ठहराए।।

8. When the Most High divided the nations, when He separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the nations according to the number of the angels of God.

9. क्योंकि यहोवा का अंश उसकी प्रजा है; याकूब उसका नपा हुआ निज भाग है।।

9. And His people Jacob became the portion of the Lord, Israel was the line of His inheritance.

10. उस ने उसको जंगल में, और सुनसान और गरजनेवालों से भरी हुई मरूभूमि में पाया; उस ने उसके चंहु ओर रहकर उसकी रक्षा की, और अपनी आंख की पुतली की नाई उसकी सुधि रखी।।

10. He maintained him in the wilderness, in burning thirst and a dry land: He led him about and instructed him, and kept him as the apple of [His] eye.

11. जैसे उकाब अपने घोंसले को हिला हिलाकर अपने बच्चों के ऊपर ऊपर मण्डलाता है, वैसे ही उस ने अपने पंख फैलाकर उसको अपने परों पर उठा लिया।।

11. As an eagle would watch over his brood, and yearns over his young, receives them having spread his wings, and takes them up on his back:

12. यहोवा अकेला ही उसकी अगुवाई करता रहा, और उसके संग कोई पराया देवता न था।।

12. the Lord alone led them, there was no strange god with them.

13. उस ने उसको पृथ्वी के ऊंचे ऊंचे स्थानों पर सवार कराया, और उसको खेतों की उपज खिलाई; उस ने उसे चट्टान में से मधु और चकमक की चट्ठान में से तेल चुसाया।।

13. He brought them up on the strength of the land; He fed them with the fruits of the fields; they sucked honey out of the rock, and oil out of the solid rock.

14. गायों का दही, और भेड़- बकरियों का दूध, मेम्नों की चर्बी, बकरे और बाशान की जाति के मेढ़े, और गेहूं का उत्तम से उत्तम आटा भी; और तू दाखरस का मधु पिया करता था।।

14. Butter of cows, and milk of sheep, with the fat of lambs and rams, of calves and kids, with fat of kidneys of wheat; and he drank wine, the blood of the grape.

15. परन्तु यशूरून मोटा होकर लात मारने लगा; तू मोटा और हृष्ट- पुष्ट हो गया, और चर्बी से छा गया है; तब उस ने अपने सृजनहार ईश्वर को तज दिया, और अपने उद्धारमूल चट्टान को तुच्छ जाना।।

15. So Jacob ate and was filled, and the beloved one kicked; he grew fat, he became thick and broad: then he forsook the God that made him, and departed from God his Savior.

16. उन्हों ने पराए देवताओं को मानकर उस में जलन उपजाई; और घृणित कर्म करके उसको रिस दिलाई ।।

16. They provoked Me to anger with strange gods; with their abominations they bitterly angered Me.

17. उन्हों ने पिशाचों के लिये जो ईश्वर न थे बलि चढ़ाए, और उनके लिये वे अनजाने देवता थे, वे तो नये नये देवता थे जो थोड़े ही दिन से प्रकट हुए थे, और जिन से उनके पुरखा कभी डरे नहीं।

17. They sacrificed to demons, and not to God; to gods whom they knew not: new and fresh [gods] came in, whom their fathers knew not.

18. जिस चट्टान से तू उत्पन्न हुआ उसको तू भूल गया, और ईश्वर जिस से तेरी उत्पत्ति हुई उसको भी तू भूल गया है।।

18. You have forsaken God that begot you, and forgotten God who feeds you.

19. इन बातों को देखकर यहोवा ने उन्हें तुच्छ जाना, क्योंकि उसके बेटे- बेटियों ने उसे रिस दिलाई थी।।

19. And the Lord saw, and was jealous; and was provoked by the anger of His sons and daughters,

20. तब उस ने कहा, मैं उन से अपना मुख छिपा लूंगा, और देखूंगा कि उनका अन्त कैसा होगा, क्योंकि इस जाति के लोग बहुत टेढ़े हैं और धोखा देनेवाले पुत्रा हैं।

20. and said, I will turn away My face from them, and will show what shall happen to them in the last days; for it is a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faith.

21. They have provoked Me to jealousy by [that which is] not God, they have exasperated Me with their idols; and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are not a nation, I will anger them with a nation void of understanding.

22. क्योंकि मेरे कोप की आग भड़क उठी है, जो पाताल की तह तक जलती जाएगी, और पृथ्वी अपनी उपज समेत भस्म हो जाएगी, और पहाड़ों की नेवों में भी आग लगा देगी।।

22. For a fire has been kindled out of My wrath, it shall burn to hell below; it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it; it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

23. मैं उन पर विपत्ति पर विपत्ति भेजूंगा; और उन पर मैं अपने सब तीरों को छोडूंगा।।

23. I will gather evils upon them, and will fight with My weapons against them.

24. वे भूख से दुबले हो जाएंगे, और अंगारों से और कठिन महारोगों से ग्रसित हो जाएंगे; और मैं उन पर पशुओं के दांत लगवाऊंगा, और धूलि पर रेंगनेवाले सर्पों का विष छोड़ दूंगा।।

24. [They shall be] consumed with hunger and the devouring of birds, and there shall be irremediable destruction: I will send forth against them the teeth of wild beasts, with the rage of [serpents] creeping on the ground.

25. बाहर वे तलवार से मरेंगे, और कोठरियों के भीतर भय से; क्या कुंवारे और कुंवारियां, क्या दूध पीता हुआ बच्चा क्या पक्के बालवाले, सब इसी प्रकार बरबाद होंगे।

25. Outside, the sword shall bereave them of children, and terror [shall issue] out of the secret chambers; the young man shall perish with the virgin, the suckling with him who has grown old.

26. मैं ने कहा था, कि मैं उनको दूर दूर से तित्तर- बित्तर करूंगा, और मनुष्यों में से उनका स्मरण तक मिटा डालूंगा;

26. I said, I will scatter them, and I will cause their memorial to cease from among men.

27. परन्तु मुझे शत्रुओं की छेड़ छाड़ का डर था, ऐसा न हो कि द्रोही इसको उलटा समझकर यह कहने लगें, कि हम अपने ही बाहुबल से प्रबल हुए, और यह सब यहोवा से नहीं हुआ।।

27. Were it not for the wrath of the enemy, lest they should live long, lest their enemies should combine against them; lest they should say, Our own outstretched arm, and not the Lord's, has done all these things.

28. यह जाति युक्तहीन तो है, और इन में समझ है ही नहीं।।

28. It is a nation that has lost counsel, neither is there understanding in them.

29. भला होता कि ये बुद्धिमान होते, कि इसको समझ लेते, और अपने अन्त का विचार करते!

29. They had not sense to understand; let them reserve these things against the time to come.

30. यदि उनकी चट्टान ही उनको न बेच देती, और यहोवा उनको औरों के हाथ में न कर देता; तो यह क्योंकर हो सकता कि उनके हजार का पीछा एक मनुष्य करता, और उनके दस हजार को दो मनुष्य भगा देते?

30. How should one pursue a thousand, and two put tens of thousands to flight, if God had not sold them, and the Lord had not delivered them up?

31. क्योंकि जैसी हमारी चट्टान है वैसी उनकी चट्टान नहीं है, चाहे हमारे शत्रु ही क्यों न न्यायी हों।।

31. For their gods are not as our God, but our enemies [are] void of understanding.

32. क्योंकि उनकी दाखलता सदोम की दाखलता से निकली, और अमोरा की दाख की बारियों में की है; उनकी दाख विषभरी और उनके गुच्छे कड़वे हैं;

32. For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom, and their vinebranch of Gomorrah: their grape [is] a grape of gall, their cluster [is] one of bitterness.

33. उनका दाखमधु सांपों का सा विष और काले नागों का सा हलाहल है।।

33. Their wine [is] the rage of serpents, and the incurable rage of asps.

34. क्या यह बात मेरे मन में संचित, और मेरे भण्डारों में मुहरबन्द नहीं है?

34. Lo! Are not these things stored up by Me, and sealed among My treasures?

35. पलटा लेना और बदला देना मेरा ही काम है, यह उनके पांव फिसलने के समय प्रगट होगा; क्योंकि उनकी विपत्ति का दिन निकट है, और जो दुख उन पर पड़नेवाले है वे शीघ्र आ रहे हैं।।

35. In the day of vengeance I will recompense, whenever their foot shall be tripped up; for the day of their destruction [is] near to them, and the judgments at hand are close upon you.

36. क्योंकि जब यहोवा देखेगा कि मेरी प्रजा की शक्ति जाती रही, और क्या बन्धुआ और क्या स्वाधीन, उन में कोई बचा नहीं रहा, तब यहोवा अपने लोगों का न्याय करेगा, और अपने दासों के विषय में तरस खाएगा।।

36. For the Lord shall judge His people, and shall be comforted over His servants; for He saw that they were utterly weakened, and failed in the hostile invasion, and have become feeble.

37. तब वह कहेगा, उनके देवता कहां हैं, अर्थात वह चट्टान कहां जिस पर उनका भरोसा था,

37. And the Lord said, Where are their gods on whom they trusted?

38. जो उनके बलिदानों की चर्बी खाते, और उनके तपावनों का दाखमधु पीते थे? वे ही उठकर तुम्हारी सहायता करें, और तुम्हारी आड़ हों!

38. The fat of whose sacrifices you ate, and you drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them arise and help you, and be your protectors.

39. इसलिये अब तुम देख लो कि मैं ही वह हूं, और मेरे संग कोई देवता नहीं; मैं ही मार डालता, और मैं जिलाता भी हूं; मैं ही घायल करता, और मैं ही चंगा भी करता हूं; और मेरे हाथ से कोई नहीं छुड़ा सकता।।

39. Behold I, even I, am [He], and there is no God beside Me: I kill, and I will make to live: I will smite, and I will heal; and there is none who shall deliver out of My hands.

40. क्योंकि मैं अपना हाथ स्वर्ग की ओर उठाकर कहता हूं, क्योंकि मैं अनन्त काल के लिये जीवित हूं,

40. For I will lift up My hand to heaven, and swear by My right hand, and I will say, I live forever.

41. सो यदि मैं बिजली की तलवार पर सान धरकर झलकाऊं, और न्याय को अपने हाथ में ले लूं, तो अपने द्रोहियों से बदला लूंगा, और अपने बैरियों को बदला दूंगा।।

41. For I will sharpen My sword like lightning, and My hand shall take hold of judgment; and I will render judgment to My enemies, and will recompense them that hate Me.

42. मैं अपने तीरों को लोहू से मतवाला करूंगा, और मेरी तलवार मांस खाएगी वह लोहू, मारे हुओं और बन्धुओं का, और वह मांस, शत्रुओं के प्रधानों के शीश का होगा।।

42. I will make My weapons drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh[, it shall gorge itself] with the blood of the wounded, and from the captivity of the heads of [their] enemies that rule over them.

43. हे अन्यजातियों, उसकी प्रजा के साथ आनन्द मनाओ; क्योंकि वह अपने दासों के लोहू का पलटा लेगा, और अपने द्रोहियों को बदला देगा, और अपने देश और अपनी प्रजा के पाप के लिये प्रायश्चित देगा।

43. Rejoice, you heavens, with Him, and let all the angels of God worship Him; rejoice you Gentiles, with His people, and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in Him; for He shall avenge the blood of His sons, and He shall render vengeance, and recompense justice to His enemies, and will reward them that hate Him; and the Lord shall purge the land of His people.

44. इस गीत के सब वचन मूसा ने नून के पुत्रा होशे समेत आकर लोगों को सुनाए।

44. And Moses wrote this song in that day, and taught it to the children of Israel; and Moses went in and spoke all the words of this law in the ears of the people, he and Joshua the [son] of Nun.

45. जब मूसा ये सब वचन सब इस्राएलियों से कह चुका,

45. And Moses finished speaking to all Israel.

46. तब उस ने उन से कहा कि जितनी बातें मैं आज तुम से चिताकर कहता हूं उन सब पर अपना अपाना मन लगाओ, और उनके अर्थात् इस व्यवस्था की सारी बातों के मानने में चौकसी करने की आज्ञा अपने लड़केबालों को दो।

46. And he said to them, Take heed with your heart to all these words, which I testify to you this day, which you shall command your sons, to observe and do all the words of this law.

47. क्योंकि यह तुम्हारे लिये व्यर्थ काम नहीं, परन्तु तुम्हारा जीवन ही है, और ऐसा करने से उस देश में तुम्हारी आयु के दिन बहुत होंगे, जिसके अधिकारी होने को तुम यरदन पार जा रहे हो।।

47. For this [is] no vain word to you; for it [is] your life, and because of this word you shall live long upon the land, into which you go over the Jordan to inherit it.

48. फिर उसी दिन यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा,

48. And the Lord spoke to Moses in this day, saying,

49. उस अबारीम पहाड़ की नबो नाम चोटी पर, जो मोआब देश में यरीहो के साम्हने है, चढ़कर कनान देश जिसे मैं इस्राएलियों की निज भूमि कर देता हूं उसको देख ले।

49. Go up this mountain of Abarim, this Mount Nebo which is in the land of Moab over against Jericho, and behold the land of Canaan, which I give to the sons of Israel:

50. तब जैसा तेरा भाई हारून होर पहाड़ पर मरकर अपने लोगों में मिल गया, वैसा ही तू इस पहाड़ पर चढ़कर मर जाएगा, और अपने लोगों में मिल जाएगा।

50. and [you shall] die on the mountain which you ascend, and be gathered to your people; as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor, and was gathered to his people.

51. इसका कारण यह है, कि सीन जंगल में, कादेश के मरीबा नाम सोते पर, तुम दोनों ने मेरा अपराध किया, क्योंकि तुम ने इस्राएलियों के मध्य में मुझे पवित्रा न ठहराया।

51. Because you disobeyed My word among the children of Israel, at the Waters of Strife, of Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin; because you sanctified Me not among the sons of Israel.

52. इसलिये वह देश जो मैं इस्राएलियों को देता हूं, तू अपने साम्हने देख लेगा, परन्तु वहां जाने न पाएगा।।

52. You shall see the land before [you], but you shall not enter into it.
