4. The Lord is the Rock, and his work is perfect! Yes, all his ways are right! God is true and faithful. He is good and honest.

5. And you are not really his children. Your sins would make him dirty. You are crooked liars.

6. Is this the way you repay the Lord for all he has done for you? You are stupid, foolish people. He is your Father and your Creator. He made you and he supports you.

7. Remember the days of the past. Think about what happened so long ago. Ask your father; he will tell you. Ask your leaders; they will tell you.

8. God Most High separated the people on earth and gave each nation its land. He set up borders for all people. He made as many nations as there are angels.

9. The Lord chose his people to be his own. The people of Jacob belong to him.

10. उस ने उसको जंगल में, और सुनसान और गरजनेवालों से भरी हुई मरूभूमि में पाया; उस ने उसके चंहु ओर रहकर उसकी रक्षा की, और अपनी आंख की पुतली की नाई उसकी सुधि रखी।।

10. The Lord found them in the desert, in an empty, windy land. He surrounded them and watched over them. He protected them like the pupil of his eye,

11. जैसे उकाब अपने घोंसले को हिला हिलाकर अपने बच्चों के ऊपर ऊपर मण्डलाता है, वैसे ही उस ने अपने पंख फैलाकर उसको अपने परों पर उठा लिया।।

11. like an eagle when she makes her young leave the nest to fly. She stays close to them, ready to help. She spreads her wings to catch them when they fall and carries them to a safe place.

12. यहोवा अकेला ही उसकी अगुवाई करता रहा, और उसके संग कोई पराया देवता न था।।

12. The Lord alone led his people. They had no help from any foreign god.

13. उस ने उसको पृथ्वी के ऊंचे ऊंचे स्थानों पर सवार कराया, और उसको खेतों की उपज खिलाई; उस ने उसे चट्टान में से मधु और चकमक की चट्ठान में से तेल चुसाया।।

13. The Lord helped them take control of the hill country. They took the harvest in the fields. He gave them honey from the cliffs and olive oil from the rocky ground.

14. गायों का दही, और भेड़- बकरियों का दूध, मेम्नों की चर्बी, बकरे और बाशान की जाति के मेढ़े, और गेहूं का उत्तम से उत्तम आटा भी; और तू दाखरस का मधु पिया करता था।।

14. He gave his people butter from the herd and milk from the flock. He gave them lambs and goats. They had the best rams from Bashan, and the finest wheat. They drank the best wine, made from the juice of red grapes.

15. परन्तु यशूरून मोटा होकर लात मारने लगा; तू मोटा और हृष्ट- पुष्ट हो गया, और चर्बी से छा गया है; तब उस ने अपने सृजनहार ईश्वर को तज दिया, और अपने उद्धारमूल चट्टान को तुच्छ जाना।।

15. 'But Jeshurun became fat and kicked like a bull. (Yes, you people were fed well and became full and fat.) They left the God who made them! They ran away from the Rock who saved them.

16. उन्हों ने पराए देवताओं को मानकर उस में जलन उपजाई; और घृणित कर्म करके उसको रिस दिलाई ।।

16. They made him jealous by worshiping other gods! They made him angry with those disgusting idols.

17. उन्हों ने पिशाचों के लिये जो ईश्वर न थे बलि चढ़ाए, और उनके लिये वे अनजाने देवता थे, वे तो नये नये देवता थे जो थोड़े ही दिन से प्रकट हुए थे, और जिन से उनके पुरखा कभी डरे नहीं।

17. They offered sacrifices to demons, to false gods. These were new gods they had not known before, gods their ancestors never knew.

18. जिस चट्टान से तू उत्पन्न हुआ उसको तू भूल गया, और ईश्वर जिस से तेरी उत्पत्ति हुई उसको भी तू भूल गया है।।

18. You people left the Rock who made you. You forgot the God who gave you life.

19. इन बातों को देखकर यहोवा ने उन्हें तुच्छ जाना, क्योंकि उसके बेटे- बेटियों ने उसे रिस दिलाई थी।।

19. The Lord saw this and became upset. His sons and daughters made him angry!

20. So he said, 'I will turn away from them, then let's see what happens! They are a rebellious people. They are like children who will not learn their lessons.

21. They made me jealous with demons that aren't gods. They made me angry with these worthless idols. So I will use people who are not a real nation to make them jealous. I will use a foolish nation to make them angry.

22. My anger will burn like a fire, burning down to the deepest grave, burning the earth and all it produces, burning deep down below the mountains.

23. 'I will bring troubles to the Israelites. I will shoot all my arrows at them.

24. They will become thin from hunger. Terrible diseases will destroy them. I will send wild animals against them. Poisonous snakes and lizards will bite them.

25. बाहर वे तलवार से मरेंगे, और कोठरियों के भीतर भय से; क्या कुंवारे और कुंवारियां, क्या दूध पीता हुआ बच्चा क्या पक्के बालवाले, सब इसी प्रकार बरबाद होंगे।

25. In the streets, soldiers will kill them. In their houses, terrible things will happen. Soldiers will kill young men and women. They will kill babies and old people.

26. मैं ने कहा था, कि मैं उनको दूर दूर से तित्तर- बित्तर करूंगा, और मनुष्यों में से उनका स्मरण तक मिटा डालूंगा;

26. 'I thought about destroying the Israelites so that people would forget them completely!

27. परन्तु मुझे शत्रुओं की छेड़ छाड़ का डर था, ऐसा न हो कि द्रोही इसको उलटा समझकर यह कहने लगें, कि हम अपने ही बाहुबल से प्रबल हुए, और यह सब यहोवा से नहीं हुआ।।

27. But I know what their enemies would say. The enemy would not understand. They would brag and say, 'The Lord did not destroy Israel. We won by our own power!'

28. यह जाति युक्तहीन तो है, और इन में समझ है ही नहीं।।

28. 'They are foolish. They don't understand.

29. भला होता कि ये बुद्धिमान होते, कि इसको समझ लेते, और अपने अन्त का विचार करते!

29. If they were wise, they would understand; they would know what would happen to them.

30. यदि उनकी चट्टान ही उनको न बेच देती, और यहोवा उनको औरों के हाथ में न कर देता; तो यह क्योंकर हो सकता कि उनके हजार का पीछा एक मनुष्य करता, और उनके दस हजार को दो मनुष्य भगा देते?

30. Can one person chase away 1000 men? Can two men cause 10,000 men to run away? This will happen only if the Lord gives them to their enemy. This will happen only if their Rock sells them like slaves.

31. क्योंकि जैसी हमारी चट्टान है वैसी उनकी चट्टान नहीं है, चाहे हमारे शत्रु ही क्यों न न्यायी हों।।

31. The 'rock' of our enemies is not strong like our Rock. Even our enemies know that.

32. क्योंकि उनकी दाखलता सदोम की दाखलता से निकली, और अमोरा की दाख की बारियों में की है; उनकी दाख विषभरी और उनके गुच्छे कड़वे हैं;

32. Their vines and fields will be destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrah. Their grapes are like bitter poison.

33. उनका दाखमधु सांपों का सा विष और काले नागों का सा हलाहल है।।

33. Their wine is like the poison of deadly snakes.

34. क्या यह बात मेरे मन में संचित, और मेरे भण्डारों में मुहरबन्द नहीं है?

34. The Lord says, 'I am saving that punishment. I have it locked up in my storehouse!

35. पलटा लेना और बदला देना मेरा ही काम है, यह उनके पांव फिसलने के समय प्रगट होगा; क्योंकि उनकी विपत्ति का दिन निकट है, और जो दुख उन पर पड़नेवाले है वे शीघ्र आ रहे हैं।।

35. I will punish them for the bad things they did. But I am saving that punishment for when they slip and do bad things. Their time of trouble is near. Their punishment will come quickly.'

36. The Lord will judge his people. They are his servants, and he will show them mercy. He will see that their power is gone. He will see that they are all helpless� the slaves and free people too.

37. Then the Lord will say, 'Where are the false gods? Where is the 'rock' that you ran to for protection?

38. Those false gods ate the fat of your sacrifices. And they drank the wine of your offerings. So let them get up and help you! Let them protect you!

39. इसलिये अब तुम देख लो कि मैं ही वह हूं, और मेरे संग कोई देवता नहीं; मैं ही मार डालता, और मैं जिलाता भी हूं; मैं ही घायल करता, और मैं ही चंगा भी करता हूं; और मेरे हाथ से कोई नहीं छुड़ा सकता।।

39. ''Now, see that I and only I am God! There is no other God! I put people to death, and I let people live. I can hurt people, and I can make them well. No one can save another person from my power!

40. I raise my hand toward heaven and make this promise. As surely as I live forever, these things will happen!

41. I swear, I will sharpen my flashing sword. I will use it to punish my enemies. I will give them the punishment they deserve.

43. The whole world should be happy for God's people! God punishes people who kill his servants. He gives his enemies the punishment they deserve. And he makes his land and people pure. '

45. When Moses finished giving these teachings to the people,

46. तब उस ने उन से कहा कि जितनी बातें मैं आज तुम से चिताकर कहता हूं उन सब पर अपना अपाना मन लगाओ, और उनके अर्थात् इस व्यवस्था की सारी बातों के मानने में चौकसी करने की आज्ञा अपने लड़केबालों को दो।

46. he said to them, 'You must be sure to pay attention to all the commands I tell you today. And you must tell your children to obey completely the commands in this Law.

47. क्योंकि यह तुम्हारे लिये व्यर्थ काम नहीं, परन्तु तुम्हारा जीवन ही है, और ऐसा करने से उस देश में तुम्हारी आयु के दिन बहुत होंगे, जिसके अधिकारी होने को तुम यरदन पार जा रहे हो।।

47. Don't think these teachings are not important. They are your life! Through these teachings you will live a long time in the land across the Jordan River that you are ready to take.'

48. फिर उसी दिन यहोवा ने मूसा से कहा,

48. The Lord spoke to Moses that same day. He said,

49. उस अबारीम पहाड़ की नबो नाम चोटी पर, जो मोआब देश में यरीहो के साम्हने है, चढ़कर कनान देश जिसे मैं इस्राएलियों की निज भूमि कर देता हूं उसको देख ले।

49. Go to the Abarim Mountains. Go up on Mount Nebo in the land of Moab across from the city of Jericho. Then you can look at the land of Canaan that I am giving to the Israelites to live in.

50. तब जैसा तेरा भाई हारून होर पहाड़ पर मरकर अपने लोगों में मिल गया, वैसा ही तू इस पहाड़ पर चढ़कर मर जाएगा, और अपने लोगों में मिल जाएगा।

50. You will die on that mountain. You will go to be with your people, the same as your brother Aaron died on Mount Hor.

51. इसका कारण यह है, कि सीन जंगल में, कादेश के मरीबा नाम सोते पर, तुम दोनों ने मेरा अपराध किया, क्योंकि तुम ने इस्राएलियों के मध्य में मुझे पवित्रा न ठहराया।

51. This is because you both sinned against me. You were at the waters of Meribah near Kadesh, in the desert of Zin. There, in front of the Israelites, you did not honor me and show that I am holy.

52. So now you may see the land that I am giving to the Israelites. But you cannot go into that land.'
