1. फिर वे अम्फिपुलिस और अपुल्लोनिया होकर थिस्सलुनीके में आए, जहां यहूदियों का एक आराधनालय था।

1. As they made their journey thorow Amphipolis, and Apolonia, they came to Thessalonica where was a synagogue of the jews.

2. और पौलुस अपनी रीति के अनुसार उन के पास गया, और तीन सब्त के दिन पवित्रा शास्त्रों से उन के साथ विवाद किया।

2. (And) Paul as his manner was went in unto them, and three Sabbath days declared out of the scripture unto them,

3. और उन का अर्थ खोल खोलकर समझाता था, कि मसीह का दुख उठाना, और मरे हुओं में से जी उठना, अवश्य था; और यही यीशु जिस की मैं तुम्हें कथा सुनाता हूं, मसीह है।

3. opening and alleging that Christ must needs have suffered and risen again from death. And that this Jesus was Christ, whom (said he) I preach to you.

4. उन में से कितनों ने, और भक्त यूनानियों में से बहुतेरों ने और बहुत सी कुलीन सित्रायों ने मान लिया, और पौलुस और सीलास के साथ मिल गए।

4. And some of them believed and came and companied with Paul and Silas. Also of the honorable greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women, not a few.

5. परन्तु यहूदियों ने डाह से भरकर बजारू लोगों में से कई दुष्ट मनुष्यों को अपने साथ में लिया, और भीड़ लगाकर नगर में हुल्लड़ मचाने लगे, और यासोन के घर पर चढ़ाई करके उन्हें लोगों के साम्हने लाना चाहा।

5. (But) The jews which believed not(stiffnecked jews) having indignation took unto them evil men which were vagabonds, and gathered a company, and set all the city on a roar, and made assault(pressed) unto the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

6. और उन्हें न पाकर, वे यह चिल्लाते हुए यासोन और कितने और भाइयों को नगर के हाकिमों के साम्हने खींच लाए, कि ये लोग जिन्हों ने जगल को उलटा पुलटा कर दिया है, यहां भी आए हैं।

6. And(But) when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the heads of the city crying: These that trouble the world are come hither also,

7. और यामोन ने उन्हें अपने यहां उतारा है, और ये सब के सब यह कहते हैं कि यीशु राजा है, और कैसर की आज्ञाओं का विरोध करते हैं।

7. which Jason hath received privily. And these all do contrary to the ordinations(elders) of Cesar, affirming(decrees of the Emperour, saying, that there is) another King, one Jesus.

8. उन्हों ने लोगों को और नगर के हाकिमों को यह सुनाकर घबरा दिया।

8. And they troubled the people and the officers(rulers) of the city when they heard these things.

9. और उन्हों ने यासोन और बाकी लोगों से मुचलका लेकर उन्हें छोड़ दिया।।

9. And when they were sufficiently answered(had received a sufficient answer) of Jason, and of the other they let them go.

10. भाइयों ने तुरन्त रात ही रात पौलुस और सीलास को बिरीया में भेज दिया: और वे वहां पहुंचकर यहूदियों के आराधनालय में गए।

10. (And) The brethren immediately sent away Paul, and Silas by night unto Berea.(Which) When they were come thither they entered(they came there, they went) into the Synagogue of the jews.

11. ये लोग तो थिस्सलुनीके के यहूदियों से भले थे और उन्हों ने बड़ी लालसा से वचन ग्रहण किया, और प्रति दिन पवित्रा शास्त्रों में ढूंढ़ते रहे कि ये बातें योहीं हैं, कि नहीं।

11. These were the noblest (of birth) among them of Thessalonia, which received the word with all diligence of mind,(marvelous willingly) and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were even so.

12. सो उन में से बहुतों ने, और यूनानी कुलीन स्त्रियों में से, और पुरूषों में से बहुतेरों ने विश्वास किया।

12. And many of them believed, and(also) of worshipful women which were greeks, and of men not a few.

13. किन्तु जब थिस्सलुनीके के यहूदी जान गए, कि पौलुस बिरीया में भी परमेश्वर का वचन सुनाता है, तो वहां भी आकर लोगों को उसकाने और हलचल मचाने लगे।

13. When the jews of Thessalonia had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither(there) and moved the people,

14. तब भाइयों ने तुरन्त पौलुस को विदा किया, कि समुद्र के किनारे चला जाए; परन्तु सीलास और तीमुथियुस वहीं रह गए।

14. and then by and by the brethren sent away Paul to go unto(as it were to) the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

15. पौलुस के पहुंचानेवाले उसे अथेने तक ले गए, और सीलास और तीमुथियुस के लिये यह आज्ञा लेकर विदा हुए, कि मेरे पास बहुत शीघ्र आओ।।

15. (And) They that guided Paul brought him unto Athens, and received a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him at once.(in all haist) And came their way.

16. जब पौलुस अथेने में उन की बाट जोह रहा था, तो नगर को मूरतों से भरा हुआ देखकर उसका जी जल गया।

16. While Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was moved in him to see the city given to worshipping of images.

17. सो वह आराधनालय में यहूदियों और भक्तों से और चौक में जो लोग मिलते थे, उन से हर दिन वाद- विवाद किया करता था।

17. Then he disputed in the synagogue with the jews, and with the devout persons; And in the market daily with them that came unto him.

18. तब इपिकूरी और स्तोईकी पण्डितों में से कितने उस से तर्क करने लगे, और कितनों ने कहा, यह बकवादी क्या कहना चाहता है? परन्तु औरों ने कहा; वह अन्य देवताओं का प्रचारक मालूम पड़ता है, क्योंकि वह यीशु का, और पुनरूत्थान का सुसमाचार सुनाता था।

18. Certain Philosophers of the Epicures, and of the Stoyckes disputed with him. And some there were which said: what will this babbler say. Other said: he seemeth to be a tidings bringer of new devils,(goddes) because he preached unto them Jesus,(Gospell of Iesus) and the resurrection,

19. तब वे उसे अपने साथ अरियुपगुस पर ले गए और पूछा, क्या हम जान सकते हैं, कि यह नया मत जो तू सुनाता है, क्या है?

19. and they took him, and brought him into Marce street(before the council house) saying: may we not know what is this new doctrine whereof thou speakest.

20. क्योंकि तू अनोखी बातें हमें सुनाता है, इसलिये हम जानना चाहते हैं कि इन का अर्थ क्या है?

20. For thou bringest strange tidings to our ears. We would know therefore what these things mean.

21. (इसलिये कि सब अथेनवी और परदेशी जो वहां रहते थे नई नई बातें कहने और सुनने के सिवाय और किसी काम में समय नहीं बिताते थे)।

21. For all the Athenians and strangers which were there gave themselves to nothing else, but either to tell or to hear new tidings.

22. तब पौलुस ने अरियुपगुस के बीच में खड़ा होकर कहा; हे अथेने के लोगों मैं देखता हूं, कि तुम हर बात में देवताओं के बड़े माननेवाले हो।

22. Paul stood in the midst of Marce street(middes of the common place) and said, ye men of Athens, I perceive(see) that in all things ye are somewhat(too) superstitious.

23. क्योंकि मैं फिरते हुए तुम्हारी पूजने की वस्तुओं को देख रहा था, तो एक ऐसी वेदी भी पाई, जिस पर लिखा था, कि 'अनजाने ईश्वर के लिये।' सो जिसे तुम बिना जाने पूजते हो, मैं तुम्हें उसका समाचार सुनाता हूं।

23. For as I passed by and beheld the manner how ye worship your gods,(I have gone thorow, and seen your gods' service) I found an altar wherein was written: unto the unknown God. Whom ye then ignorantly worship, him shew I unto you:

24. जिस परमेश्वर ने पृथ्वी और उस की सब वस्तुओं को बनाया, वह स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी का स्वामी होकर हाथ के बनाए हुए मन्दिरों में नहीं रहता।

24. God that made the world, and all that are in it, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, he dwelleth not in temples made with hands

25. न किसी वस्तु का प्रयोजन रखकर मनुष्यों के हाथों की सेवा लेता है, क्योंकि वह तो आप ही सब को जीवन और स्वास और सब कुछ देता है।

25. neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed of any thing. Forasmuch as he giveth to all men life and breath every where,(seeing he himself giveth life and breath to all men everywhere)

26. उस ने एक ही मूल से मनुष्यों की सब जातियां सारी पृथ्वी पर रहने के लिये बनाई हैं; और उन के ठहराए हुए समय, और निवास के सिवानों को इसलिये बान्धा है।

26. and hath made of one blood all nations(generations) of men, for to dwell on all the face of the earth. And hath assigned times(borders) appointed before;(and hath assigned before, how long time) And (also) the ends of their inhabitation,(how long and far they should dwell)

27. कि वे परमेश्वर को ढूंढ़ें, कदाचित उसे टटोलकर पा जाएं तौभी वह हम में से किसी से दूर नहीं!

27. that they should seek God,(the LORDE) if they might feel and find him, though he be(And truly he is) not far from every one of us.

28. क्योंकि हम उसी में जीवित रहते, और चलते- फिरते, और स्थिर रहते हैं; जैसे तुम्हारे कितने कवियों ने भी कहा है, कि हम तो उसी के वंश भी हैं।

28. For in him we live, move, and have our being, as certain of your own poets said. For we are also his generation.

29. सो परमेश्वर का वंश होकर हमें यह समझता उचित नहीं, कि ईश्वरत्व, सोने या रूपे या पत्थर के समान है, जो मनुष्य की कारीगरी और कल्पता से गढ़े गए हों।

29. Forasmuch then as we are the generation of God, we ought not to think that the godhead is like unto gold, silver, or stone, graven by craft and(or imagery work of the craft or) imagination of man.

30. इसलिये परमेश्वर आज्ञानता के समयों में अनाकानी करके, अब हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को मन फिराने की आज्ञा देता है।

30. And the time of this ignorance God regarded not:(hath overseen) but now he biddeth all men everywhere (to) repent,

31. क्योंकि उस ने एक दिन ठहराया है, जिस में वह उस मनुष्य के द्वारा धर्म से जगत का न्याय करेगा, जिसे उस ने ठहराया है और उसे मरे हुओं में से जिलाकर, यह बात सब पर प्रामाणित कर दी है।।

31. because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world according to righteousness,(the compass of the world with righteousness) by that man, whom he hath appointed, and hath given(offered) faith to all men, after that he had raised him from death.

32. मरे हुओं के पुनरूत्थान की बात सुनकर कितने तो ठट्ठा करने लगे, और कितनों ने कहा, यह बात हम तुझ से फिर कभी सुनेंगे।

32. When they heard of the resurrection from death, some mocked, and other said: we will hear thee again of this matter.

33. इस पर पौलुस उन के बीच में से निकल गया।

33. So Paul departed from among them.

34. परन्तु कई एक मनुष्य उसके साथ मिल गए, और विश्वास किया, जिन में दियुनुसियुस अरियुपगी था, और दमरिस नाम एक स्त्री थी, और उन के साथ और भी कितने लोग थे।।

34. (Howbeit) Certain men clave unto Paul and believed, among the which was Dionysius a senator,(one of the council) and a woman named Damaris, and other with them.
