1. उन दिनों में औगूस्तुस कैसर की ओर से आज्ञा निकली, कि सारे जगत के लोगों के नाम लिखे जाएं।

1. In those days Caesar Augustus sent out word that the name of every person in the Roman nation must be written in the books of the nation.

2. यह पहिली नाम लिखाई उस समय हुई, जब क्विरिनियुस सूरिया का हाकिम था।

2. This first writing took place while Quirinius was ruler of Syria.

3. और सब लोग नाम लिखवाने के लिये अपने अपने नगर को गए।

3. So all the people went to their own cities to have their names written in the books of the nation.

4. सो यूसुफ भी इसलिये कि वह दाऊद के घराने और वंश का था, गलील के नासरत नगर से यहूदिया में दाऊद के नगर बैतलहम को गया।

4. Joseph went up from the town of Nazareth in the country of Galilee to the town of Bethlehem. It was known as the city of David. He went there because he was from the family of David.

5. Joseph went to have his and Mary's names written in the books of the nation. Mary was his promised wife and soon to become a mother.

6. While they were there in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to give birth to her baby.

7. और वह अपना पहिलौठा पुत्रा जनी और उसे कपड़े में लपेटकर चरनी में रखा: क्योंकि उन के लिये सराय में जगह न थी।

7. Her first son was born. She put cloth around Him and laid Him in a place where cattle are fed. There was no room for them in the place where people stay for the night.

8. और उस देश में कितने गड़ेरिये थे, जो रात को मैदान में रहकर अपने झुण्ड का पहरा देते थे।

8. In the same country there were shepherds in the fields. They were watching their flocks of sheep at night.

9. और प्रभु का एक दूत उन के पास आ खड़ा हुआ; और प्रभु का तेज उन के चारों ओर चमका, और वे बहुत डर गए।

9. The angel of the Lord came to them. The shining-greatness of the Lord shone around them. They were very much afraid.

10. तब स्वर्गदूत ने उन से कहा, मत डरो; क्योंकि देखो मैं तुम्हें बड़े आनन्द का सुसमाचार सुनाता हूं जो सब लोगों के लिये होगा।

10. The angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. See! I bring you good news of great joy which is for all people.

11. कि आज दाऊद के नगर में तुम्हारे लिये एक उद्धारकर्ता जन्मा है, और यही मसीह प्रभु है।

11. Today, One Who saves from the punishment of sin has been born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.

12. और इस का तुम्हारे लिये यह पता है, कि तुम एक बालक को कपड़े मे लिपटा हुआ और चरनी में पड़ा पाओगे।

12. There will be something special for you to see. This is the way you will know Him. You will find the Baby with cloth around Him, lying in a place where cattle are fed.'

13. तब एकाएक उस स्वर्गदूत के साथ स्वर्गदूतों का दल परमेश्वर की स्तुति करते हुए और यह कहते दिखाई दिया।

13. At once many angels from heaven were seen, along with the angel, giving thanks to God. They were saying,

14. कि आकाश में परमेश्वर की महिमा और पृथ्वी पर उन मनुष्यों में जिनसे वह प्रसन्न है शान्ति हो।।

14. 'Greatness and honor to our God in the highest heaven and peace on earth among men who please Him.'

15. जब स्वर्गदूत उन के पास से स्वर्ग को चले गए, तो गड़ेरियों ने आपस में कहा, आओ, हम बैतलहम जाकर यह बात जो हुई है, और जिसे प्रभु ने हमें बताया है, देखें।

15. The angels went from the shepherds back to heaven. The shepherds said to each other, 'Let us go now to Bethlehem and see what has happened. The Lord has told us about this.'

16. और उन्हों ने तुरन्त जाकर मरियम और यूसुफ को और चरनी में उस बालक को पड़ा देखा।

16. They went fast and found Mary and Joseph. They found the Baby lying in a place where cattle are fed.

17. इन्हें देखकर उन्हों ने वह बात जो इस बालक के विषय में उन से कही गई थी, प्रगट की।

17. When they saw the Child, they told what the angel said about Him.

18. और सब सुननेवालों ने उन बातों से जो गड़रियों ने उन से कहीं आश्चर्य किया।

18. All who heard it were surprised at what the shepherds told them.

19. परन्तु मरियम ये सब बातें अपने मन में रखकर सोचती रही।

19. But Mary hid all these words in her heart. She thought about them much.

20. और गडरिये जैसा उन से कहा गया था, वैसा ही सब सुनकर और देखकर परमेश्वर की महिमा और स्तुति करते हुए लौट गए।।

20. The shepherds went back full of joy. They thanked God for all they had heard and seen. It happened as the angel had told them.

21. जब आठ दिन पूरे हुए, और उसके खतने का समय आया, तो उसका नाम यीशु रखा गया, जो स्वर्गदूत ने उसके पेट में आने से पहिले कहा था।

21. When eight days were over, they did the religious act of becoming a Jew on the Child. He was named Jesus. This name was given to Him by the angel when Mary was told He was to be born.

22. और जब मूसा को व्यवस्था के अनुसार उन के शुद्ध होने के दिन पूरे हुए तो वे उसे यरूशलेम में ले गए, कि प्रभु के सामने लाएं।

22. When the days were over for her to be made pure as it was written in the Law of Moses, they took Jesus to Jerusalem to give Him to the Lord.

23. It is written in the Law of the Lord, 'The first-born male born of a woman will be called holy to the Lord.'

24. They were to give a gift of two turtle-doves or two young birds on the altar in worship to the Lord. This was written in the Law of the Lord.

25. और देखो, यरूशलेम में शमौन नाम एक मनुष्य था, और वह मनुष्य धर्मी और भक्त था; और इस्राएल की शान्ति की बाट जोह रहा था, और पवित्रा आत्मा उस पर था।

25. There was a man in Jerusalem by the name of Simeon. He was a good man and very religious. He was looking for the time when the Jewish nation would be saved. The Holy Spirit was on him.

26. और पवित्रा आत्मा से उस को चितावनी हुई थी, कि जब तक तू प्रभु के मसीह को देख ने लेगा, तक तक मृत्यु को न देखेगा।

26. The Holy Spirit made it known to Simeon that he would not die before he had seen God's Chosen One.

27. और वह आत्मा के सिखाने से मन्दिर में आया; और जब माता- पिता उस बालक यीशु को भीतर लाए, कि उसके लिये व्यवस्था की रीति के अनुसार करें।

27. He came to the house of God being led by the Holy Spirit. The parents took Jesus to the house of God. They came to do what the Law said must be done.

28. तो उस ने उसे अपनी गोद में लिया और परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद करके कहा,

28. Then Simeon took Jesus in his arms. He gave honor to Him and thanked God, saying,

29. हे स्वामी, अब तू अपने दास को अपने वचन के अनुसार शान्ति से विदा करता है।

29. 'Lord, now let me die in peace, as You have said.

30. क्योंकि मेरी आंखो ने तेरे उद्धार को देख लिया है।

30. My eyes have seen the One Who will save men from the punishment of their sins.

31. जिसे तू ने सब देशों के लोगों के साम्हने तैयार किया है।

31. You have made Him ready in the sight of all nations.

32. कि वह अन्य जतियों को प्रकाश देने के लिये ज्योति, और तेरे निज लोग इस्राएल की महिमा हो।

32. He will be a light to shine on the people who are not Jews. He will be the shining-greatness of Your people the Jews.'

33. और उसका पिता और उस की माता इन बातों से जो उसके विषय में कही जाती थीं, आश्चर्य करते थे।

33. Joseph and the mother of Jesus were surprised and wondered about these words which were said about Jesus.

34. तब शमौन ने उन को आशीष देकर, उस की माता मरियम से कहा; देख, वह तो इस्राएल में बहुतों के गिरने, और उठने के लिये, और एक ऐसा चिन्ह होने के लिये ठहराया गया है, जिस के विरोध में बातें की जाएगीं --

34. Simeon honored them and said to Mary the mother of Jesus, 'See! This Child will make many people fall and many people rise in the Jewish nation. He will be spoken against.

35. वरन तेरा प्राण भी तलवार से वार पार छिद जाएगा-- इस से बहुत हृदयों के विचार प्रगट होंगे।

35. A sword will cut through your soul. By this the thoughts of many hearts will be understood.'

36. और अशेर के गोत्रा में से हन्नाह नाम फनूएल की बेटी एक भविष्यद्वक्तिन थी: वह बहुत बूढ़ी थी, और ब्याह होने के बाद सात वर्ष अपने पति के साथ रह पाई थी।

36. Anna was a woman who spoke God's Word. She was the daughter of Phanuel of the family group of Asher. Anna was many years old. She had lived with her husband seven years after she was married.

37. वह चौरासी वर्ष से विधवा थी: और मन्दिर को नहीं छोड़ती थी पर उपवास और प्रार्थना कर करके रात- दिन उपासना किया करती थी।

37. Her husband had died and she had lived without a husband eighty-four years. Yet she did not go away from the house of God. She served God day and night, praying and going without food so she could pray better.

38. और वह उस घड़ी वहां आकर प्रभु का धन्यवाद करने लगी, और उन सभों से, जो यरूशलेम के छुटकारे की बाट जोहते थे, उसके विषय में बातें करने लगी।

38. At that time she came and gave thanks to God. She told the people in Jerusalem about Jesus. They were looking for the One to save them from the punishment of their sins and to set them free.

39. और जब वे प्रभु की व्यवस्था के अनुसार सब कुछ निपटा चुके तो गलील में अपने नगर नासरत को फिर चले गए।।

39. When Joseph and Mary had done everything the Law said to do, they went back to Nazareth in Galilee.

40. और बालक बढ़ता, और बलवन्त होता, और बुद्धि से परिपूर्ण होता गया; और परमेश्वर का अनुग्रह उस पर था।

40. The Child grew and became strong in spirit. He was filled with wisdom and the loving-favor of God was on Him.

41. उसके माता- पिता प्रति वर्ष फसह के पर्ब्ब में यरूशलेम को जाया करते थे।

41. His parents went to Jerusalem every year for the special religious gathering to remember how the Jews left Egypt.

42. जब वह बारह वर्ष का हुआ, तो वे पर्ब्ब की रीति के अनुसार यरूशलेम को गए।

42. When He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem as they had done before.

43. और जब वे उन दिनों को पूरा करके लौटने लगे, तो वह लड़का यीशु यरूशलेम में रह गया; और यह उसके माता- पिता नहीं जानते थे।

43. When the days of the special supper were over, they started back to their town. But the boy Jesus was still in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it.

44. वे यह समझकर, कि वह और यात्रियों के साथ होगा, एक दिन का पड़ाव निकल गए: और उसे अपने कुटुम्बियों और जानपहचानों में ढूंढ़ने लगे।

44. They thought Jesus was with the others of the group. They walked for one day. Then they looked for Him among their family and friends.

45. पर जब नहीं मिला, तो ढूंढ़ते- ढूंढ़ते यरूशलेम को फिर लौट गए।

45. When they could not find Jesus, they turned back to Jerusalem to look for Him.

46. और तीन दिन के बाद उन्हों ने उसे मन्दिर में उपदेशकों के बीच में बैठे, उन की सुनते और उन से प्रश्न करते हुए पाया।

46. Three days later they found Him in the house of God. He was sitting among the teachers. He was hearing what they said and asking questions.

47. और जितने उस की सुन रहे थे, वे सब उस की समझ और उसके उत्तरों से चकित थे।

47. All those who heard Him were surprised and wondered about His understanding and at what He said.

48. तब वे उसे देखकर चकित हुए और उस की माता ने उस से कहा; हे पुत्रा, तू ने हम से क्यों ऐसा व्यवहार किया? देख, तेरा पिता और मैं कुढ़ते हुए तुझे ढूंढ़ते थे।
यशायाह 52:14

48. When His parents saw Him, they were surprised. His mother said to Him, 'My Son, why have You done this to us? See! Your father and I have had much sorrow looking for You.'

49. उस ने उन से कहा; तुम मुझे क्यों ढूंढ़ते थे? क्या नहीं जानते थे, कि मुझे अपने पिता के भवन में होना अवश्य है?

49. He said to them, 'Why were you looking for Me? Do you not know that I must be in My Father's house?'

50. परन्तु जो बात उस ने उन से कही, उन्हों ने उसे नहीं समझा।

50. They did not understand the things He said to them.

51. तब वह उन के साथ गया, और नासरत में आया, और उन के वश में रहा; और उस की माता ने ये सब बातें अपने मन में रखीं।।

51. He went with them to Nazareth and obeyed them. But His mother kept all these words in her heart.

52. और यीशु बुद्धि और डील- डौल में और परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के अनुग्रह में बढ़ता गया।।

52. Jesus grew strong in mind and body. He grew in favor with God and men.
