5. Everything they do is done for others to see. On their foreheads and arms they wear little boxes that hold Scripture verses. They make the boxes very wide. And they make the tassels on their coats very long.

12. Anyone who lifts himself up will be brought down. And anyone who is brought down will be lifted up.

13. हे कपटी शास्त्रियों और फरीसियों तुम पर हाय! तुम मनुष्यों के विरोध में स्वर्ग के राज्य का द्वार बन्द करते हो, न तो आप ही उस में प्रवेश करते हो और न उस में प्रवेश करनेवालों को प्रवेश करने देते हो।।

15. हे कपटी शास्त्रियों और फरीसियों तुम पर हाय! तुम एक जन को अपने मत में लाने के लिये सारे जल और थल में फिरते हो, और जब वह मत में आ जाता है, तो उसे अपने से दूना नारकीय बना देते हो।।

15. 'How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You pretenders! You travel everywhere to win one person to your faith. Then you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

16. हे अन्धे अगुवों, तुम पर हाय, जो कहते हो कि यदि कोई मन्दिर की शपथ खाए तो कुछ नहीं, परन्तु यदि कोई मन्दिर के सोने की सौगन्ध खाए तो उस से बन्ध जाएगा।

16. 'How terrible for you, blind guides! You say, 'If anyone takes an oath in the name of the temple, it means nothing. But anyone who takes an oath in the name of the gold of the temple must keep the oath.'

17. हे मूर्खो, और अन्धों, कौन बड़ा है, सोना या वह मन्दिर जिस से सोना पवित्रा होता है?

17. You are blind and foolish! Which is more important? Is it the gold? Or is it the temple that makes the gold holy?

18. फिर कहते हो कि यदि कोई वेदी की शपथ खाए तो कुछ नहीं, परन्तु जो भेंट उस पर है, यदि कोई उस की शपथ खाए तो बन्ध जाएगा।

18. 'You also say, 'If anyone takes an oath in the name of the altar, it means nothing. But anyone who takes an oath in the name of the gift on it must keep the oath.'

19. You blind men! Which is more important? Is it the gift? Or is it the altar that makes the gift holy?

20. 'So anyone who takes an oath in the name of the altar takes an oath in the name of it and of everything on it.

23. 'How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You pretenders! You give God a tenth of your spices, like mint, dill and cummin. But you have not practiced the more important things of the law, like fairness, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the last things without failing to do the first.

24. You blind guides! You remove the smallest insect from your food. But you swallow a whole camel!

25. 'How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You pretenders! You clean the outside of the cup and dish. But on the inside you are full of greed. You only want to satisfy yourselves.

26. हे अन्धे फरीसी, पहिले कटोरे और थाली को भीतर से मांज कि वे बाहर से भी स्वच्छ हों।।

26. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish. Then the outside will also be clean.

27. हे कपटी शास्त्रियों, और फरीसियों, तुम पर हाय; तुम चूना फिरी हुई कब्रों के समान हो जो ऊपर से तो सुन्दर दिखाई देती हैं, परन्तु भीतर मुर्दों की हडि्डयों और सब प्रकार की मलिनता से भरी हैं।

27. 'How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You pretenders! You are like tombs that are painted white. They look beautiful on the outside. But on the inside they are full of the bones of the dead. They are also full of other things that are not pure and clean.

28. इसी रीति से तुम भी ऊपर से मनुष्यों को धर्मी दिखाई देते हो, परन्तु भीतर कपट और अधर्म से भरे हुए हो।।

28. It is the same with you. On the outside you seem to be doing what is right. But on the inside you are full of what is wrong. You pretend to be what you are not.

29. हे कपटी शास्त्रियों, और फरीसियों, तुम पर हाय; तुम भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की कब्रें संवारते और धर्मियों की कब्रें बनाते हो।

29. 'How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You pretenders! You build tombs for the prophets. You decorate the graves of the godly.

30. और कहते हो, कि यदि हम अपने बापदादों के दिनों में होते तो भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की हत्या में उन के साझी न होते।

30. And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of those who lived before us, we wouldn't have done what they did. We wouldn't have helped to kill the prophets.'

31. इस से तो तुम अपने पर आप ही गवाही देते हो, कि तुम भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के घातकों की सन्तान हो।

31. So you give witness against yourselves. You admit that you are the children of those who murdered the prophets.

32. सो तुम अपने बापदादों के पाप का घड़ा भर दो।

32. So finish the sins that those who lived before you started!

33. हे सांपो, हे करैतों के बच्चो, तुम नरक के दण्ड से क्योंकर बचोगे?

33. 'You nest of poisonous snakes! How will you escape from being sentenced to hell?

34. इसलिये देखो, मैं तुम्हारे पास भविष्यद्वक्ताओं और बुद्धिमानों और शास्त्रियों को भेजता हूं; और तुम उन में से कितनों को मार डालोगे, और क्रूस पर चढ़ाओगे; और कितनों को अपनी सभाओं में कोड़े मारोगे, और एक नगर से दूसरे नगर में खदेड़ते फिरोगे।

34. So I am sending you prophets, wise men, and teachers. You will kill some of them. You will nail some to a cross. Others you will whip in your synagogues. You will chase them from town to town.

35. 'So you will pay for all the godly people's blood spilled on earth. I mean from the blood of godly Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berekiah. Zechariah was the one you murdered between the temple and the altar.

36. मैं तुम से सच कहता हूं, ये सब बातें इस समय के लोगों पर आ पड़ेंगी।।

36. What I'm about to tell you is true. All this will happen to those who are now living.

37. हे यरूशलेम, हे यरूशलेम; तू जो भविष्यद्वक्ताओं को मार डालता है, और जो तेरे पास भेजे गए, उन्हें पत्थरवाह करता है, कितनी ही बार मैं ने चाहा कि जैसे मुर्गी अपने बच्चों को अपने पंखों के नीचे इकट्ठे करती है, वैसे ही मैं भी तेरे बालकों को इकट्ठे कर लूं, परन्तु तुम ने न चाहा।

37. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! You kill the prophets and throw stones in order to kill those who are sent to you. Many times I have wanted to gather your people together. I have wanted to be like a hen who gathers her chicks under her wings. But you would not let me!

38. Look, your house is left empty.

39. क्योंकि मैं तुम से कहता हूं, कि अब से जब तक तुम न कहोगे, कि धन्य है वह, जो प्रभु के नाम से आता है, तब तक तुम मुझे फिर कभी न देखोगे।।

39. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.' '--(Psalm 118:26)
