1. फिर यूसुफियों के कुलों में से गिलाद, जो माकीर का पुत्रा और मनश्शे का पोता था, उसके वंश के कुल के पितरों के घरानों के मुख्य मुख्य पुरूष मूसा के समीप जाकर उस प्रधानों के साम्हने, जो इस्त्राएलियों के पितरों के घरानों के मुख्य पुरूष थे, कहने लगे,

1. The leaders of the clans of the family of the descendants of Gil'ad, the son of Machir, the son of M'nasheh, of the families of the descendants of Yosef, approached and addressed Moshe and the leaders, the heads of the clans of the people of Isra'el.

2. यहोवा ने हमारे प्रभु को आज्ञा दी थी, कि इस्त्राएलियों को चिट्ठी डालकर देश बांट देना; और फिर यहोवा की यह भी आज्ञा हमारे प्रभु को मिली, कि हमारे सगोत्री सलोफाद का भाग उसकी बेटियों को देना।

2. They said, 'ADONAI ordered my lord to give by lot the land to be inherited by the people of Isra'el, and my lord was ordered by ADONAI to give the inheritance of our kinsman Tz'lof'chad to his daughters.

3. तो यदि वे इस्त्राएलियों के और किसी गोत्रा के पुरूषों से ब्याही जाएं, तो उनका भाग हमारे पितरों के भाग से छूट जाएगा, और जिस गोत्रा में से ब्याही जाएं उसी गोत्रा के भाग में मिल जाएगा; तब हमारा भाग घट जाएगा।

3. But if they get married to anyone belonging to another of the tribes of the people of Isra'el, then their inheritance will be taken away from the inheritance of our ancestors and be added to the inheritance of the tribe they will then belong to; thus it will be taken away from the sum total of our inheritance.

4. और जब इस्त्राएलियों की जुबली होगी, तब जिस गोत्रा में वे ब्याही जाएं उसके भाग में उनका भाग पक्की रीति से मिल जाएगा; और वह हमारे पितरों के गोत्रा के भाग से सदा के लिये छूट जाएगा।

4. And when the [yovel] of the people of Isra'el comes, their inheritance will be added to the land possessed by the tribe they will then belong to and be subtracted from the inheritance belonging to the tribe of our ancestors.'

5. तब यहोवा से आज्ञा पाकर मूसा ने इस्त्राएलियों से कहा, यूसुफियों के गोत्री ठीक कहते हैं।

5. Moshe gave this order to the people of Isra'el, in keeping with the word of ADONAI: 'The tribe of the descendants of Yosef is right in what it says.

6. सलोफाद की बेटियों के विषय में यहोवा ने यह आज्ञा दी है, कि जो वर जिसकी दृष्टि में अच्छा लगे वह उसी से ब्याही जाए; परन्तु वे अपने मूलपुरूष ही के गोत्रा के कुल में ब्याही जाएं।

6. Here is what ADONAI has ordered concerning the daughters of Tz'lof'chad: 'Let them be married to whomever they think best, but they must marry only into a family from their father's tribe.

7. और इस्त्राएलियों के किसी गोत्रा का भाग दूसरे के गोत्रा के भाग में ने मिलने पाए; इस्त्राएली अपने अपने मूलपुरूष के गोत्रा के भाग पर बने रहें।

7. In this way no inheritance of the people of Isra'el will move from one tribe to another; for each of the people of Isra'el is to hold on to the land for inheritance belonging to his father's tribe.

8. और इस्त्राएलियों के किसी गोत्रा में किसी की बेटी हो जो भाग पानेवाली हो, वह अपने ही मूलपुरूष के गोत्रा के किसी पुरूष से ब्याही जाए, इसलिये कि इस्त्राएली अपने अपने मूलपुरूष के भाग के अधिकारी रहें।

8. Every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the people of Isra'el is to become the wife of someone from the family of her father's tribe, so that every one of the people of Isra'el will stay in possession of his ancestors' inheritance.

9. किसी गोत्रा का भाग दूसरे गोत्रा के भाग में मिलने न पाएं; इस्त्राएलियों के एक एक गोत्रा के लोग अपने अपने भाग पर बने रहें।

9. Thus no inheritance will move from one tribe to another, for each of the tribes of the people of Isra'el will hold on to its own inheritance.'

10. यहोवा की आज्ञा के अनुसार जो उस ने मूसा को दी सलोफाद की बेटियों ने किया।

10. The daughters of Tz'lof'chad did as ADONAI had ordered Moshe.

11. अर्थात् महला, तिर्सा, होग्ला, मिलका, और नोआ, जो सलोफाद की बेटियां थी, उन्हों ने अपने चचेरे भाइयों से ब्याह किया।

11. Machlah, Tirtzah, Hoglah, Milkah and No'ah all got married to sons of their father's brothers.

12. वे यूसुफ के पुत्रा मनश्शे के वंश के कुलों में ब्याही गई, और उनका भाग उनके मूलपुरूष के कुल के गोत्रा के अधिकार में बना रहा।।

12. They were married into the families of the descendants of M'nasheh the son of Yosef, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father's family.

13. जो आज्ञाएं और नियम यहोवा ने मोआब के अराबा में यरीहो के पास की यरदन नदी के तीर पर मूसा के द्वारा इस्त्राएलियों को दिए वे ये ही हैं।।

13. These are the [mitzvot] and rulings which ADONAI gave through Moshe to the people of Isra'el in the plains of Mo'av by the Yarden, across from Yericho.
