1. फिर यूसुफियों के कुलों में से गिलाद, जो माकीर का पुत्रा और मनश्शे का पोता था, उसके वंश के कुल के पितरों के घरानों के मुख्य मुख्य पुरूष मूसा के समीप जाकर उस प्रधानों के साम्हने, जो इस्त्राएलियों के पितरों के घरानों के मुख्य पुरूष थे, कहने लगे,

1. The heads of the ancestral houses in the clan of descendants of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh-- one of the Josephite clans-- came up and laid this plea before Moses and the priest Eleazar and before the princes who were the heads of the ancestral houses of the other Israelites.

2. यहोवा ने हमारे प्रभु को आज्ञा दी थी, कि इस्त्राएलियों को चिट्ठी डालकर देश बांट देना; और फिर यहोवा की यह भी आज्ञा हमारे प्रभु को मिली, कि हमारे सगोत्री सलोफाद का भाग उसकी बेटियों को देना।

2. They said: 'The LORD commanded you, my lord, to apportion the land by lot among the Israelites; and you, my lord, were also commanded by the LORD to give the heritage of our kinsman Zelophehad to his daughters.

3. तो यदि वे इस्त्राएलियों के और किसी गोत्रा के पुरूषों से ब्याही जाएं, तो उनका भाग हमारे पितरों के भाग से छूट जाएगा, और जिस गोत्रा में से ब्याही जाएं उसी गोत्रा के भाग में मिल जाएगा; तब हमारा भाग घट जाएगा।

3. But if they marry into one of the other Israelite tribes, their heritage will be withdrawn from our ancestral heritage and will be added to that of the tribe into which they marry; thus the heritage that fell to us by lot will be diminished.

4. और जब इस्त्राएलियों की जुबली होगी, तब जिस गोत्रा में वे ब्याही जाएं उसके भाग में उनका भाग पक्की रीति से मिल जाएगा; और वह हमारे पितरों के गोत्रा के भाग से सदा के लिये छूट जाएगा।

4. When the Israelites celebrate the jubilee year, the heritage of these women will be permanently added to that of the tribe into which they marry and will be withdrawn from that of our ancestral tribe.'

5. तब यहोवा से आज्ञा पाकर मूसा ने इस्त्राएलियों से कहा, यूसुफियों के गोत्री ठीक कहते हैं।

5. So Moses gave this regulation to the Israelites according to the instructions of the LORD: 'The tribe of the Josephites are right in what they say.

6. सलोफाद की बेटियों के विषय में यहोवा ने यह आज्ञा दी है, कि जो वर जिसकी दृष्टि में अच्छा लगे वह उसी से ब्याही जाए; परन्तु वे अपने मूलपुरूष ही के गोत्रा के कुल में ब्याही जाएं।

6. This is what the LORD commands with regard to the daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry anyone they please, provided they marry into a clan of their ancestral tribe,

7. और इस्त्राएलियों के किसी गोत्रा का भाग दूसरे के गोत्रा के भाग में ने मिलने पाए; इस्त्राएली अपने अपने मूलपुरूष के गोत्रा के भाग पर बने रहें।

7. so that no heritage of the Israelites will pass from one tribe to another, but all the Israelites will retain their own ancestral heritage.

8. और इस्त्राएलियों के किसी गोत्रा में किसी की बेटी हो जो भाग पानेवाली हो, वह अपने ही मूलपुरूष के गोत्रा के किसी पुरूष से ब्याही जाए, इसलिये कि इस्त्राएली अपने अपने मूलपुरूष के भाग के अधिकारी रहें।

8. Therefore, every daughter who inherits property in any of the Israelite tribes shall marry someone belonging to a clan of her own ancestral tribe, in order that all the Israelites may remain in possession of their own ancestral heritage.

9. किसी गोत्रा का भाग दूसरे गोत्रा के भाग में मिलने न पाएं; इस्त्राएलियों के एक एक गोत्रा के लोग अपने अपने भाग पर बने रहें।

9. Thus, no heritage can pass from one tribe to another, but all the Israelite tribes will retain their own ancestral heritage.'

10. यहोवा की आज्ञा के अनुसार जो उस ने मूसा को दी सलोफाद की बेटियों ने किया।

10. The daughters of Zelophehad obeyed the command which the LORD had given to Moses.

11. अर्थात् महला, तिर्सा, होग्ला, मिलका, और नोआ, जो सलोफाद की बेटियां थी, उन्हों ने अपने चचेरे भाइयों से ब्याह किया।

11. Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah, Zelophehad's daughters, married relatives on their father's side

12. वे यूसुफ के पुत्रा मनश्शे के वंश के कुलों में ब्याही गई, और उनका भाग उनके मूलपुरूष के कुल के गोत्रा के अधिकार में बना रहा।।

12. within the clans of the descendants of Manasseh, son of Joseph; hence their heritage remained in the tribe of their father's clan.

13. जो आज्ञाएं और नियम यहोवा ने मोआब के अराबा में यरीहो के पास की यरदन नदी के तीर पर मूसा के द्वारा इस्त्राएलियों को दिए वे ये ही हैं।।

13. These are the commandments and decisions which the LORD prescribed for the Israelites through Moses, on the plains of Moab beside the Jericho stretch of the Jordan.
