1. यहोवा की यह वाणी है, उस समय यहूदा के राजाओं, हाकिमों, याजकों, भविष्यद्वक्ताओं और यरूशलेम के रहनेवालों की हडि्डयां क़ब्रों में से निकालकर,

1. At that time, sayeth the Lord, they shall bring out the bones of the Kings of Iudah, and the bones of their princes, and the bones of the Priests and the bones of the Prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Ierusalem out of their graues.

2. सूर्य, चन्द्रमा और आकाश के सारे गणों के साम्हने फैलाई जाएंगी; क्योंकि वे उन्हीं से प्रेम रखते, उन्हीं की सेवा करते, उन्हीं के पीछे चलते, और उन्हीं के पास जाया करते और उन्हीं को दण्डवत् करते थे; और न वे इकट्ठी की जाएंगी न क़ब्र में रखी जाएंगी; वे भूमि के ऊपर खाद के समान पड़ी रहेंगी।

2. And they shall spread them before the sunne and the moone, and all the host of heauen, whom they haue loued, and whome they haue serued, and whome they haue followed, and whome they haue sought, and whome they haue worshipped: they shall not be gathered nor be buried, but shall be as doung vpon the earth.

3. तब इस बुरे कुल के बचे हुए लोग उन सब स्थानों में जिस में मैं ने उन्हें निकाल दिया है, जीवन से मृत्यु ही को अधिक चाहेंगे, सेनाओं के यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

3. And death shall bee desired rather then life of all the residue that remaineth of this wicked familie, which remaine in all the places where I haue scattered them, sayeth the Lord of hostes.

4. तू उन से यह भी कह, यहोवा यों कहता है कि जब मनुष्य गिरते हैं तो क्या फिर नहीं उठते?

4. Thou shalt say vnto them also, Thus sayeth the Lord, Shall they fall and not arise? shall he turne away and not turne againe?

5. जब कोई। भटक जाता है तो क्या वह लौट नहीं आता? फिर क्या कारण है कि ये यरूशलेमी सदा दूर ही दूर भटकते जाते हैं? ये छल नहीं छोड़ते, और फिर लौटने से इनकार करते हैं।

5. Wherefore is this people of Ierusalem turned backe by a perpetuall rebellion? they gaue themselues to deceit, and would not returne.

6. मैं ने ध्यान देकर सुना, परन्तु ये ठीक नहीं बोलते; इन में से किसी ने अपनी बुराई से पछताकर नहीं कहा, हाय ! मैं ने यह क्या किया है? जैसा घोड़ा लड़ाई में वेग से दौड़ता है, वैसे ही इन में से हर एक जन अपनी ही दौड़ में दौड़ता है।

6. I hearkened and heard, but none spake aright: no man repented him of his wickednesse, saying, What haue I done? euery one turned to their race, as the horse rusheth into the battell.

7. आकाश में लगलग भी अपने नियत समयों को जानता है, और पणडुकी, सूपाबेनी, और सारस भी अपने आने का समय रखते हैं; परन्तु मेरी प्रजा यहोवा का नियम नहीं जानती।

7. Euen the storke in the aire knoweth her appointed times, and the turtle and the crane and the swallowe obserue the time of their comming, but my people knoweth not the iudgement of the Lord.

8. तुम क्योंकर कह सकते हो कि हम बुध्दिमान हैं, और यहोवा की दी हुई व्यपस्था हमारे साथ है? परन्तु उनके शास्त्रियों ने उसका झूठा विवरण लिखकर उसको झूठ बना दिया है।

8. Howe doe yee say, Wee are wise, and the Lawe of the Lord is with vs? Loe, certeinly in vaine made hee it, the penne of the scribes is in vaine.

9. बुध्दिमान लज्जित हो गए, वे विस्मित हुए और पकड़े गए; देखो, उन्हों ने यहोवा के वचन को निकम्मा जाना है, उन में बुध्दि कहां रही?

9. The wise men are ashamed: they are afraid and taken. loe, they haue reiected the word of the Lord, and what wisdome is in them?

10. इस कारण मैं उनकी स्त्रियों को दूसरे पुरूषों को और उनके खेत दूसरे अधिकारियों के वश में कर दूंगा, क्योंकि छोटे से लेकर बड़े तक वे सब के सब लालची हैं; क्या भविष्यद्वक्ता क्या याजक, वे सब के छल से काम करते हैं।

10. Therefore will I giue their wiues vnto others, and their fieldes to them that shall possesse them: for euery one from the least euen vnto the greatest is giuen to couetousnesse, and from the Prophet euen vnto the Priest, euery one dealeth falsely.

11. उन्हों ने, 'शान्ति है, शान्ति' ऐसा कह कहकर मेरी प्रजा के घाव को ऊपर ही ऊपर चंगा किया, परन्तु शान्ति कुछ भी नहीं है।

11. For they haue healed the hurt of the daughter of my people with sweete woordes, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

12. कया वे घृणित काम करके लज्जित हुए? नहीं, वे कुछ भी लज्जित नहीं हुए, वे लज्जित होना जानते ही नहीं। इस कारण जब और लेग नीचे गिरें, तब वे भी गिरेंगे; जब उनके दण्ड का समय आएगा, तब वे भी ठोकर खाकर गिरेंगे, यहोवा का यही वचन है।

12. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not ashamed, neither coulde they haue any shame: therefore shall they fall among the slaine: when I shall visite them, they shall be cast downe, sayeth the Lord.

13. यहोवा की सह भी वाण्री है, मैं उन सभों का अन्त कर दूंगा। न तो उनकी दाखलताओं में दाख पाई जाएंगी, और न अंजीर के पृक्ष में अंजीर वरन उनके पत्ते भी सूख जाएंगे, और जो कुछ मैं ने उन्हें दिया है वह उनके पास से जाता रहेगा।

13. I wil surely consume them, sayth the Lord: there shalbe no grapes on the vine, nor figges on the figtree, and the leafe shall fade, and the things that I haue giuen them, shall depart from them.

14. हम क्यों चुप- चाप बैठे हैं? आओ, हम चलकर गढ़वाले नगरों में इकट्ठे नाश हो जाएं; क्योंकि हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हम को नाश करना चाहता है, और हमें विष पीने को दिया है; क्योंकि हम ने यहोवा के विरूद्ध पाप किया है।

14. Why doe we stay? assemble your selues, and let vs enter into the strong cities, and let vs be quiet there: for the Lord our God hath put vs to silence and giuen vs water with gall to drinke, because we haue sinned against the Lord.

15. हम शान्ति की बाट जोहते थे, परन्तु कुछ कल्याण नहीं मिला, और चंगाई की आशा करते थे, परन्तु घबराना ही पड़ा है।

15. We looked for peace, but no good came, and for a time of health, and behold troubles.

16. उनके घोड़ों का फुर्राना दान से सुन पड़ता है, और बलवन्त घोड़ों के हिनहिनाने के शब्द से सारा देश कांप उठा है। उन्हों ने आकर हमारे देश को और जो कुछ उस में है, और हमारे नगर को निवासियों समेत नाश किया है।

16. The neying of his horses was heard from Dan, the whole lande trembled at the noyse of the neying of his strong horses: for they are come, and haue deuoured the land with all that is in it, the citie, and those that dwell therein.

17. क्योंकि देखो, मैं तुम्हारे बीच में ऐसे सांप और नाग भेजूंगा जिन पर मंत्रा न चलेगा, और वे तुम को डसेंगे, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

17. For beholde, I will sende serpents, and cockatrices among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall sting you, sayth the Lord.

18. हाय ! हाय ! इस शोक की दशा में मुझे शान्ति कहां से मिलेगी? मेरा हृदय भीतर ही भीतर तड़पता है !

18. I would haue comforted my selfe against sorowe, but mine heart is heauie in me.

19. मुझे अपने लोगों की चिल्लाहट दूर के देश से सुनाई देती है : क्या यहोवा सिरयोन में नहीं हैं? क्या उसका राजा उस में नहीं? उन्हों ने क्यों मुझ को अपनी खोदी हुई मूरतों और परदेश की व्यर्थ वस्तुओं के द्वारा क्यों क्रोध दिलाया है?

19. Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people for feare of them of a farre countrey, Is not the Lord in Zion? is not her king in her? Why haue they prouoked mee to anger with their grauen images, and with the vanities of a strange god?

20. कटनी का समय बीत गया, फल तोड़ने कीतिु भी समाप्त हो गई, और हमारा उठ्ठार नहीं हुआ।

20. The haruest is past, the sommer is ended, and we are not holpen.

21. अपने लोगों के दु:ख से मैं भी दु:खित हुआ, मैं शोक का पहिरावा पहिने अति अचम्भे में डूबा हूँ।

21. I am sore vexed for the hurt of ye daughter of my people: I am heauie, and astonishment hath taken me.

22. क्या गिलाद देश में कुछ बलसान की औषधि नहीं? क्या उस में कोई वैद्य नहीं? यदि है, तो मेरे लोगों के घाव क्यों चंगे नहीं हुए?

22. Is there no balme at Gilead? is there no Physition there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recouered.
