1. यहोवा की यह वाणी है, उस समय यहूदा के राजाओं, हाकिमों, याजकों, भविष्यद्वक्ताओं और यरूशलेम के रहनेवालों की हडि्डयां क़ब्रों में से निकालकर,

1. In that tyme, seith the Lord, thei schulen caste out the boonys of the kingis of Juda, and the boonys of princes therof, and the boonys of prestis, and the boonys of profetis, and the boonys of hem that dwelliden in Jerusalem fro her sepulcris;

2. सूर्य, चन्द्रमा और आकाश के सारे गणों के साम्हने फैलाई जाएंगी; क्योंकि वे उन्हीं से प्रेम रखते, उन्हीं की सेवा करते, उन्हीं के पीछे चलते, और उन्हीं के पास जाया करते और उन्हीं को दण्डवत् करते थे; और न वे इकट्ठी की जाएंगी न क़ब्र में रखी जाएंगी; वे भूमि के ऊपर खाद के समान पड़ी रहेंगी।

3. तब इस बुरे कुल के बचे हुए लोग उन सब स्थानों में जिस में मैं ने उन्हें निकाल दिया है, जीवन से मृत्यु ही को अधिक चाहेंगे, सेनाओं के यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

4. तू उन से यह भी कह, यहोवा यों कहता है कि जब मनुष्य गिरते हैं तो क्या फिर नहीं उठते?

5. जब कोई। भटक जाता है तो क्या वह लौट नहीं आता? फिर क्या कारण है कि ये यरूशलेमी सदा दूर ही दूर भटकते जाते हैं? ये छल नहीं छोड़ते, और फिर लौटने से इनकार करते हैं।

5. Whi therfor is this puple in Jerusalem turned awei bi turnyng awei ful of strijf? Thei han take leesyng, and nolden turne ayen.

6. मैं ने ध्यान देकर सुना, परन्तु ये ठीक नहीं बोलते; इन में से किसी ने अपनी बुराई से पछताकर नहीं कहा, हाय ! मैं ने यह क्या किया है? जैसा घोड़ा लड़ाई में वेग से दौड़ता है, वैसे ही इन में से हर एक जन अपनी ही दौड़ में दौड़ता है।

6. Y perseyuede, and herknede; no man spekith that that is good, noon is that doith penaunce for his synne, and seith, What haue Y do? Alle ben turnede togidere to her cours, as an hors goynge bi fersnesse to batel.

7. आकाश में लगलग भी अपने नियत समयों को जानता है, और पणडुकी, सूपाबेनी, और सारस भी अपने आने का समय रखते हैं; परन्तु मेरी प्रजा यहोवा का नियम नहीं जानती।

7. A kite in the eir knew his tyme; a turtle, and a swalewe, and a siconye, kepten the tyme of her comyng; but my puple knew not the doom of the Lord.

8. तुम क्योंकर कह सकते हो कि हम बुध्दिमान हैं, और यहोवा की दी हुई व्यपस्था हमारे साथ है? परन्तु उनके शास्त्रियों ने उसका झूठा विवरण लिखकर उसको झूठ बना दिया है।

8. Hou seien ye, We ben wise men, and the lawe of the Lord is with vs? Verili the fals writyng of scribis wrouyte leesyng.

9. बुध्दिमान लज्जित हो गए, वे विस्मित हुए और पकड़े गए; देखो, उन्हों ने यहोवा के वचन को निकम्मा जाना है, उन में बुध्दि कहां रही?

9. Wise men ben schent, ben maad aferd and takun. For thei castiden awei the word of the Lord, and no wisdom is in hem.

10. इस कारण मैं उनकी स्त्रियों को दूसरे पुरूषों को और उनके खेत दूसरे अधिकारियों के वश में कर दूंगा, क्योंकि छोटे से लेकर बड़े तक वे सब के सब लालची हैं; क्या भविष्यद्वक्ता क्या याजक, वे सब के छल से काम करते हैं।

10. Therfor Y schal yyue the wymmen of hem to straungeris, and the feeldis of hem to alien eiris; for fro the leeste `til to the mooste alle suen aueryce, fro a profete `til to the preest alle maken leesyng;

11. उन्हों ने, 'शान्ति है, शान्ति' ऐसा कह कहकर मेरी प्रजा के घाव को ऊपर ही ऊपर चंगा किया, परन्तु शान्ति कुछ भी नहीं है।

12. कया वे घृणित काम करके लज्जित हुए? नहीं, वे कुछ भी लज्जित नहीं हुए, वे लज्जित होना जानते ही नहीं। इस कारण जब और लेग नीचे गिरें, तब वे भी गिरेंगे; जब उनके दण्ड का समय आएगा, तब वे भी ठोकर खाकर गिरेंगे, यहोवा का यही वचन है।

12. Thei ben schent, for thei diden abhomynacioun; yhe, rather thei weren not schent bi schenschipe, and kouden not be aschamed. Therfor thei schulen falle among falleris, in the tyme of her visitacioun thei schulen falle, seith the Lord.

13. यहोवा की सह भी वाण्री है, मैं उन सभों का अन्त कर दूंगा। न तो उनकी दाखलताओं में दाख पाई जाएंगी, और न अंजीर के पृक्ष में अंजीर वरन उनके पत्ते भी सूख जाएंगे, और जो कुछ मैं ने उन्हें दिया है वह उनके पास से जाता रहेगा।

13. I gaderynge schal gadere hem, seith the Lord; no grape is in the vynes, and figis ben not in the fige tre; a leef felle doun, and Y yaf to hem tho thingis that ben go out ouer.

14. हम क्यों चुप- चाप बैठे हैं? आओ, हम चलकर गढ़वाले नगरों में इकट्ठे नाश हो जाएं; क्योंकि हमारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हम को नाश करना चाहता है, और हमें विष पीने को दिया है; क्योंकि हम ने यहोवा के विरूद्ध पाप किया है।

14. Whi sitten we? come ye togidere, entre we in to a strong citee, and be we stille there; for oure Lord hath maad vs to be stille, and yaf to vs drynk the watir of galle; for we han synned to the Lord.

15. हम शान्ति की बाट जोहते थे, परन्तु कुछ कल्याण नहीं मिला, और चंगाई की आशा करते थे, परन्तु घबराना ही पड़ा है।

15. We abididen pees, and no good was; we abididen tyme of medicyn, and lo! drede is.

16. उनके घोड़ों का फुर्राना दान से सुन पड़ता है, और बलवन्त घोड़ों के हिनहिनाने के शब्द से सारा देश कांप उठा है। उन्हों ने आकर हमारे देश को और जो कुछ उस में है, और हमारे नगर को निवासियों समेत नाश किया है।

16. Gnastyng of horsis therof is herd fro Dan; al the lond is moued of the vois of neiyngis of hise werriours; and thei camen, and deuouriden the lond, and the plente therof, the citee, and the dwelleris therof.

17. क्योंकि देखो, मैं तुम्हारे बीच में ऐसे सांप और नाग भेजूंगा जिन पर मंत्रा न चलेगा, और वे तुम को डसेंगे, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

17. For lo! Y schal sende to you the werste serpentis, to whiche is no charmyng; and thei schulen bite you, seith the Lord.

18. हाय ! हाय ! इस शोक की दशा में मुझे शान्ति कहां से मिलेगी? मेरा हृदय भीतर ही भीतर तड़पता है !

18. My sorewe is on sorewe, myn herte is mourenynge in me.

19. मुझे अपने लोगों की चिल्लाहट दूर के देश से सुनाई देती है : क्या यहोवा सिरयोन में नहीं हैं? क्या उसका राजा उस में नहीं? उन्हों ने क्यों मुझ को अपनी खोदी हुई मूरतों और परदेश की व्यर्थ वस्तुओं के द्वारा क्यों क्रोध दिलाया है?

19. And lo! the vois of cry of the douyter of my puple cometh fro a fer lond. Whether the Lord is not in Sion, ethir the kyng therof is not therynne? Whi therfor stiriden thei me to wrathfulnesse bi her grauun ymagis, and bi alien vanytees?

20. कटनी का समय बीत गया, फल तोड़ने कीतिु भी समाप्त हो गई, और हमारा उठ्ठार नहीं हुआ।

20. Heruest is passid, somer is endid; and we ben not sauyd.

21. अपने लोगों के दु:ख से मैं भी दु:खित हुआ, मैं शोक का पहिरावा पहिने अति अचम्भे में डूबा हूँ।

21. Y am turmentid, and sori on the sorewe of the douyter of my puple; astonying helde me.

22. क्या गिलाद देश में कुछ बलसान की औषधि नहीं? क्या उस में कोई वैद्य नहीं? यदि है, तो मेरे लोगों के घाव क्यों चंगे नहीं हुए?

22. Whether resyn is not in Galaad, ether a leche is not there? Whi therfor the wounde of the douytir of my puple is not heelid perfitli?
