1. और सातवें महीने में ऐसा हुआ कि इश्माएल जो नतन्याह का पुत्रा और एलीशामा का पोता और राजवंश का और राजा के प्रधान पुरूषों में से था, सो दस जन संग लेकर मिस्पा में अहीकाम के पुत्रा गदल्याह के पास आया। वहां मिस्पा में उन्हों ने एक संग भोजन किया।

1. Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal and one of the chief officers of the king, and ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and there they ate bread together in Mizpah.

2. तब नतन्याह के पुत्रा इश्माएल और उसके संग के दस जनों ने उठकर गदल्याह को, जो अहीकाम का पुत्रा और शपान का पोता था, ओर जिसे बाबुल के राजा ने देश का अधिकारी ठहराया था, उसे तलवार से ऐसा मारा कि वह मर गया।

2. Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men who were with him, arose and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and killed him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

3. और इश्माएल ने गदल्याह के संग जितने यहूदी मिस्पा में थे, और जो कसदी योद्वा वहां मिले, उन सभों को मार डाला।

3. Ishmael also killed all the Jews who were with him, namely, with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who were found there, the men of war.

4. गदल्याह के मार डालने के दूसरे दिन जब कोई इसे न जानता था,

4. And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,

5. तब शकेम और शीलो और शोमरोन से अस्सी पुरूष डाढ़ी मुड़ाए, वस्त्रा फाड़े, शरीर चीरे हुए और हाथ में अन्नबलि और लोबान लिए हुए, यहोवा के भवन में जाने को आते दिखाई दिए।

5. that men came from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even eighty men, having their beards shaven and their clothes torn, and having cut themselves, with meal-offerings and frankincense in their hand, to bring them to the house of LORD.

6. तब नतन्याह का पुत्रा इश्माएल उन से मिलने को मिस्पा से निकला, और रोता हुआ चला। जब वह उन से मिला, तब कहा, अहीकाम के पुत्रा गदल्याह के पास चलो।

6. And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went. And it came to pass, as he met them, he said to them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.

7. जब वे उस नगर में आए तब नतन्याह के पुत्रा इश्माएल ने अपने संगी जनों समेत उनको घात करके गड़हे में फेंक दिया।

7. And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah killed them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men who were with him.

8. परन्तु उन में से दस मनुष्य इश्माएल से कहने लगे, हम को न मार; क्योंकि हमारे पास मैदान में रखा हुआ गेहूं, जव, तेल और मधु है। सो उस ने उन्हें छोड़ दिया और उनके भाइयों के साथ नहीं मारा।

8. But ten men were found among those who said to Ishmael, Kill us not, for we have stores hidden in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he held back, and did not kill them among their brothers.

9. जिस गड़हे में इश्माएल न उन लोगों की सब लोथें जिन्हें उस ने मारा था, गदल्याह की लोथ के पास फेंक दी थी, (यह वही गड़हा है जिसे आसा राजा ने इस्राएल के राजा बाशा के डर के मारे खुदवाया था), उसको नतन्याह के पुत्रा इश्माएल ने मारे हुओं से भर दिया।

9. Now the pit in which Ishmael cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he had slain by the side of Gedaliah (the same was that which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel), Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with those who were slain.

10. तब जो लोग मिस्पा में बचे हुए थे, अर्थात् राजकुमारियां और जितने और लोग मिस्पा में रह गए थे जिन्हें जल्लादों के प्रधान नबूजरदान ने अहीकाम के पुत्रा गदल्याह को सौंप दिया था, उन सभों को नतन्याह का पुत्रा इश्माएल बंधुआ करके अम्मोनियों के पास ले जाने को चला।

10. Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people who were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people who remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam. Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the sons of Ammon.

11. जब कारेह के पुत्रा योहानान ने और योद्वाओं के दलों के उन सब प्रधानों ने जो उसके संग थे, सुना, कि नतन्याह के पुत्रा इश्माएल ने यह सब बुराई की है,

11. But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,

12. तब वे सब जनों को लेकर नतन्याह के पुत्रा इश्माएल से लड़ने को निकले और उसको उस बड़े जलाशय के पास पाया जो गिबोन में है।

12. then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.

13. कारेह के पुत्रा योहानान को, और दलों के सब प्रधानों को देखकर जो उसके संग थे, इश्माएल के साथ जो लोग थे, वे सब आनन्दित हुए।

13. Now it came to pass that, when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, then they were glad.

14. और जितने लोगों को इश्माएल मिस्पा से बंधुआ करके लिए जाता था, वे पलटकर कारेह के पुत्रा योहानान के पास चले आए।

14. So all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah turned about and came back, and went to Johanan the son of Kareah.

15. परन्तु नतन्याह का पुत्रा इश्माएल आठ पुरूष समेत योहानान के हाथ से बचकर अम्मोनियों के पास चला गया।

15. But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the sons of Ammon.

16. तब प्रजा में से जितने बच गए थे, अर्थात् जिन योद्वाओं, स्त्रियों, बालबच्चों और खोजों को कारेह का पुत्रा योहानान, अहीकाम के पुत्रा गदल्याह के मिस्पा में मारे जाने के बाद नतन्याह के पुत्रा इश्माएल के पास से छुड़ाकर गिबोन से फेर ले आया था, उनको वह अपने सब संगी दलों के प्रधानों समेत लेकर चल दिया।

16. Then Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, took all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, namely, the men of war, and the women, and the sons, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon.

17. और बेतलेहेम के निकट जो किम्हाम की सराय है, उस में वे इसलिये टिक गए कि मिस्र में जाएं।

17. And they departed, and dwelt in Geruth Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter into Egypt

18. क्योंकि वे कसदियों से डरते थे; इसका कारण यह था कि अहीकाम का पुत्रा गदल्याह जिसे बाबुल के राजा ने देश का अधिकारी ठहराया था, उसे नतन्याह के पुत्रा इश्माएल ने मार डाला था।

18. because of the Chaldeans, for they were afraid of them because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor over the land.
