1. फिर यहोवा ने मुझ से कहा, यदि मूसा और शमूएल भी मेरे साम्हने खड़े होते, तौभी मेरा मन इन लोगों की ओर न फिरता। इनको मेरे साम्हने से निकाल दो कि वे निकल जाएं!

1. Then the LORD said to me, 'Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading for these people, I would not feel pity for them! Get them away from me! Tell them to go away!

2. और यदि वे तुझ से पूछें कि हम कहां निकल जाएं? तो कहना कि यहोवा यों कहता है, जो मरनेवाले हैं, वे मरने को चले जाएं, जो तलवार से मरनेवाले हैं, वे तलवार से मरने को; जो आकाल से मरनेवाले हैं, वे आकाल से मरने को, और जो बंधुए होनेवाले हैं, वे बंधुआई में चले जाएें।

2. If they ask you, 'Where should we go?' tell them the LORD says this: 'Those who are destined to die of disease will go to death by disease. Those who are destined to die in war will go to death in war. Those who are destined to die of starvation will go to death by starvation. Those who are destined to go into exile will go into exile.'

3. मैं उनके विरूद्ध चार प्रकार के विनाश ठहराऊंगा : मार डालने के लिये तलवार, फाड़ डालने के लिये कुत्ते, नोच डालने के लिये आकाश के पक्षी, और फाड़कर खाने के लिये मैदान के हिंसक जन्तु, यहोवा की यह वाणी है।

3. 'I will punish them in four different ways: I will have war kill them. I will have dogs drag off their dead bodies. I will have birds and wild beasts devour and destroy their corpses.

4. यह हिजकिरयाह के पुत्रा, यहूदा के राजा मनश्शे के उन कामों के कारण होगा जो उस ने यरूशलेम में किए हैं, और मैं उन्हें ऐसा करूंगा कि वे पृथ्वी के राज्य राज्य में मारे मारे फिरेंगे।

4. I will make all the people in all the kingdoms of the world horrified at what has happened to them because of what Hezekiah's son Manasseh, king of Judah, did in Jerusalem.'

5. हे यरूशलेम, तुझ पर कौन तरस खाएगा, और कौन तेरे लिये शोक करेगा? कौन तेरा कुशल पूछने को तेरी ओर मुड़ेगा?

5. The LORD cried out, 'Who in the world will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will grieve over you? Who will stop long enough to inquire about how you are doing?

6. यहोवा की यह वाणी है कि तू मुझ को त्यागकर पीछे हट गई है, इसलिये मैं तुझ पर हाथ बढ़ाकर तेरा नाश करूंगा; क्योंकि, मैं तरस खाते खाते उकता गया हूँ।

6. I, the LORD, say: 'You people have deserted me! You keep turning your back on me.' So I have unleashed my power against you and have begun to destroy you. I have grown tired of feeling sorry for you!'

7. मैं ने उनको देश के फाटकों में सूप से फटक दिया है; उन्हों ने कुमार्ग को नहीं छोड़ा, इस कारण मैं ने अपनी प्रजा को निर्वश कर दिया, और नाश भी किया है।

7. The LORD continued, 'In every town in the land I will purge them like straw blown away by the wind. I will destroy my people. I will kill off their children. I will do so because they did not change their behavior.

8. उनकी विधवाए मेरे देखने में समुद्र की बालू के किनकों से अधिक हो गई हैं; उनके जवानों की माताओं के विरूद्ध दुपहरी ही को मैं ने लुटेरों को ठहराया है; मैं ने उनको अचानक संकट में डाल दिया और घबरा दिया है।

8. Their widows will become in my sight more numerous than the grains of sand on the seashores. At noontime I will bring a destroyer against the mothers of their young men. I will cause anguish and terror to fall suddenly upon them.

9. सात लड़कों की माता भी बेहाल हो गई और प्राण भी छोड़ दिया; उसका सूर्य दोपहर ही को अस्त हो गया; उसकी आशा टूट गई और उसका मुंह काला हो गया। और जो रह गए हैं उनको भी मैं शत्रुओं की तलवार से मरवा डालूंगा, यहोवा की यही वाणी है।

9. The mother who had seven children will grow faint. All the breath will go out of her. Her pride and joy will be taken from her in the prime of their life. It will seem as if the sun had set while it was still day. She will suffer shame and humiliation. I will cause any of them who are still left alive to be killed in war by the onslaughts of their enemies,' says the LORD.

10. हे मेरी माता, मुझ पर हाय, कि तू ने मुझ ऐसे मनुष्य को उत्पन्न किया जो संसार भर से झगड़ा और वादविवाद करनेवाला ठहरा है ! न तो मैं ने व्याज के लिये रूपये दिए, और न किसी से उधार लिए हैं, तौभी लोग मुझे कोसते हैं।

10. I said, 'Oh, mother, how I regret that you ever gave birth to me! I am always starting arguments and quarrels with the people of this land. I have not lent money to anyone and I have not borrowed from anyone. Yet all of these people are treating me with contempt.'

11. यहोवा ने कहा, निश्चय मैं तेरी भलाई के लिये तुझे दृढ़ करूंगा; विपत्ति और कष्ट के समय मैं शत्रु से भी तेरी बिनती कराऊंगा।

11. The LORD said, 'Jerusalem, I will surely send you away for your own good. I will surely bring the enemy upon you in a time of trouble and distress.

12. क्या कोई पीतल वा लोहा, उत्तर दिशा का लोहा तोड़ सकता है?

12. Can you people who are like iron and bronze break that iron fist from the north?

13. तेरे सब पापों के कारण जो सर्वत्रा देश में हुए हैं मैं तेरी धन- सम्पत्ति और खजाने, बिना दाम दिए लुट जाने दूंगा।

13. I will give away your wealth and your treasures as plunder. I will give it away free of charge for the sins you have committed throughout your land.

14. मैं ऐसा करूंगा कि वह शत्रुओं के हाथ ऐसे देश में चला जाएगा जिसे तू नहीं जानती है, क्योंकि मेरे क्रोध की आग भड़क उठी है, और वह तुम को जलाएगी।

14. I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you know nothing about. For my anger is like a fire that will burn against you.'

15. हे यहोवा, तू तो जानता है; मुझे स्मरण कर और मेरी सुधि लेकर मेरे सतानेवालों से मेरा पलटा ले। तू धीरज के साथ क्रोध करनेवाला है, इसलिये मुझे न उठा ले; तेरे ही निमित्त मेरी नामधराई हुई है।

15. I said, 'LORD, you know how I suffer. Take thought of me and care for me. Pay back for me those who have been persecuting me. Do not be so patient with them that you allow them to kill me. Be mindful of how I have put up with their insults for your sake.

16. जब तेरे वचन मेरे पास पहुंचे, तब मैं ने उन्हें मानो खा लिया, और तेरे वचन मेरे मन के हर्ष और आनन्द का कारण हुए; क्योंकि, हे सेनाओं के परमेश्वर यहोवा, मैं तेरा कहलाता हूँ।

16. As your words came to me I drank them in, and they filled my heart with joy and happiness because I belong to you.

17. तेरी छाया मुझ पर इई; मैं मन बहलानेवालों के बीच बैठकर प्रसन्न नहीं हुआ; तेरे हाथ के दबाव से मैं अकेला बैठा, क्योंकि तू ने मुझे क्रोध से भर दिया था।

17. I did not spend my time in the company of other people, laughing and having a good time. I stayed to myself because I felt obligated to you and because I was filled with anger at what they had done.

18. मेरी पीड़ा क्यों लगातार बनी रहती है? मेरी चोट की क्यों कोई औषधि नहीं है? क्या तू सचमुच मेरे लिये धोखा देनेवाली नदी और सूखनेवाले जल के समान होगा?

18. Why must I continually suffer such painful anguish? Why must I endure the sting of their insults like an incurable wound? Will you let me down when I need you like a brook one goes to for water, but that cannot be relied on?'

19. यह सुनकर यहोवा ने यों कहा, यदि तू फिरे, तो मैं फिरसे तुझे अपने साम्हने खड़ा करूंगा। यदि तू अनमोल को कहे और निकम्मे को न कहे, तब तू मेरे मुख के समान होगा। वे लोग तेरी ओर फिरेंगे, परन्तु तू उनकी ओर न फिरना।

19. Because of this, the LORD said, 'You must repent of such words and thoughts! If you do, I will restore you to the privilege of serving me. If you say what is worthwhile instead of what is worthless, I will again allow you to be my spokesman. They must become as you have been. You must not become like them.

20. और मैं तुझ को उन लोगों के साम्हने पीतल की दृढ़ शहरपनाह बनाऊंगा; वे तुझ से लड़ेंगे, परन्तु तुझ पर प्रबल न होंगे, क्योंकि मैं तुझे बचाने और तेरा उठ्ठार करने के लिये तेरे साथ हूँ, यहोवा की यह वाणी है। मैं तुझे दुष्ट लोगों के हाथ से बचाऊंगा,

20. I will make you as strong as a wall to these people, a fortified wall of bronze. They will attack you, but they will not be able to overcome you. For I will be with you to rescue you and deliver you,' says the LORD.

21. और उपद्रवी लोगों के पंजे से छुड़ा लूंगा।

21. 'I will deliver you from the power of the wicked. I will free you from the clutches of violent people.'
