1. धर्मी जन नाश होता है, और कोई इस बात की चिन्ता नहीं करता; भक्त मनुष्य उठा लिए जाते हैं, परन्तु कोई नहीं सोचता। धर्मी जन इसलिये उठा लिया गया कि आनेवाली आपत्ति से बच जाए,

1. The righteous one, hath perished, And not a man, hath taken it to heart Yea the men of lovingkindness, have been withdrawn No one considering, That from the presence of calamity, hath the righteous been withdrawn.

2. वह शान्ति को पहुंचता है; जो सीधी चाल चलता है वह अपनी खाट पर विश्राम करता है।।

2. He entereth into peace, Let them rest upon their couches, Each one who went on a straight path.

3. परन्तु तुम, हे जादूगरती के पुत्रों, हे व्यभिचारी और व्यभिचारिणी की सन्तान, यहां निकट आओ।

3. But, ye, draw near hither, Ye sons of divination, Ye seed of an adulterer when your mother committed unchastity!

4. तुम किस पर हंसी करते हो? तुम किस पर मुंह खोलकर जीभ निकालते हो? क्या तुम पाखण्डी और झूठे के वंश नहीं हो,

4. Against whom would ye disport yourselves? Against whom would ye widen the mouth and lengthen the tongue, Are not, ye, Children of transgression, A Seed of falsehood.

5. तुम, जो सब हरे वृक्षों के तले देवताओं के कारण कामातुर होते और नालों में और चट्टानों ही दरारों के बीच बाल- बच्चों को वध करते हो?

5. Who inflame yourselves With the terebinths, Under every green tree Slaying the children, In the torrent-valleys, Under the clefts of the crags:

6. नालों के चिकने पत्थर ही तेरा भाग और अंश ठहरे; तू ने उनके लिये तपावन दिया और अन्नबलि चढ़ाया है। क्या मैं इन बातों से शान्त हो जाऊं?

6. Among the smooth stones of the torrent valley, is thy portion. They, they, are thy lot; Even to them, hast thou Poured out a drink-offering. Caused to ascend a gift. Over these things, can I cease to grieve?

7. एक बड़े ऊंचे पहाड़ पर तू ने अपना बिछौना छिाया है, वहीं तू बलि चढ़ाने को चढ़ गई।

7. On a mountain high and uplifted, hast thou set thy couch, Even thither, hast thou gone up, to offer sacrifice;

8. तू ने अपनी चिन्हानी अपने द्वार के किवाड़ और चौखट की आड़ ही में रखी; मुझे छोड़कर तू औरों को अपने तई दिखाने के लिये चढ़ी, तू ने अपनी खाट चौड़ी की और उन से वाचा बान्ध ली, तू ने उनकी खाट को जहां देखा, पसन्द किया।

8. And behind the door arid the post, hast thou set thy symbol, For, with another than me, hast thou uncovered thyself and gone up Hast widened thy couch, And hast solemnised for thyself a covenant from them, Thou hast loved their couch a sign, hast thou seen;

9. तू तेल लिए हुए राजा के पास गई और बहुत सुगन्धित तेल अपने काम में लाई; अपने दूत तू ने दूर तक भेजे और अधोलोक तक अपने को नीचा किया।

9. And hast gone to the king with oil, And hast multiplied thy perfumes, And hast sent thy messengers afar, And lowered thyself as far as hades!

10. तू अपनी यात्रा की लम्बाई के कारण थक गई, तौभी तू ने न कहा कि यह व्यर्थ है; तेरा बल कुछ अधिक हो गया, इसी कारण तू नहीं थकी।।

10. With the length of thy journey, thou wast wearied, Thou didst not say, Hopeless! The reviving of thy power, thou didst find, For this cause, hast thou not become sick.

11. तू ने किस के डर से झूठ कहा, और किसका भय मानकर ऐसा किया कि मुझ को स्मरण नहीं रखा न मुझ पर ध्यान दिया? क्या मैं बहुत काल से चुप नहीं रहा? इस कारण तू मेरा भय नहीं मानती।

11. Whom then hadst thou been anxious about and feared that thou shouldest speak falsely, When me, thou rememberedst not, caredst not for me? Did not, I, keep silence even from age-past times, Although me, thou wouldest not fear?

12. मैं आप तेरे धर्म और कर्मों का वर्णन करूंगा, परन्तु, उन से तुझे कुछ लाभ न होगा।

12. I, will expose thy righteousness, And thy works but they will not profit thee!

13. जब तू दोहाई दे, तब जिन मूर्त्तियों को तू ने जमा किया है वह ही तुझे छुड़ाएं ! वे तो सब की सब वायु से वरन एक ही फूंक से उड़ जाएंगी। परन्तु जो मेरी शरण लेगा वह देश का अधिकारी होगा, और मेरे पवित्रा पर्वत को भी अधिकारी होगा।।

13. When thou makest outcry, let thy gathered throngs deliver thee! But all of them, shall A wind, catch up A breath, take away! Whereas he that seeketh refuge in me, Shall inherit the land, And possess my holy mountain.

14. और यह कहा जाएगा, पांति बान्ध बान्धकर राजमार्ग बनाओ, मेरी प्रजा के मार्ग में से हर एक ठोकर दूर करो।

14. And one said Cast ye up cast ye up, prepare ye a way, Lift the stumbling-block out of the way of my people.

15. क्योंकि जो महान और उत्तम और सदैव स्थिर रहता, और जिसका नाम पवित्रा है, वह यों कहता है, मैं ऊंचे पर और पवित्रा स्थान में निवास करता हूं, और उसके संग भी रहता हूं, जो खेदित और नम्र हैं, कि, नम्र लोगों के हृदय और खेदित लोगों के मन को हर्षित करूं।

15. For, thus, saith he that is high and lifted up Inhabiting futurity, And, holy, is his name: A high and holy place, will I inhabit, Also with the crushed and lowly in spirit, To revive the spirit of the lowly, and To revive the heart of them who are crushed;

16. मैं सदा मुक मा न लड़ता रहूंगा, न सर्वदा क्रोधित रहूंगा; क्योंकि आत्मा मेरे बनाए हुए हैं और जीव मेरे साम्हने मूर्च्छित हो जाते हैं।

16. For not age-abidingly, will I contend, Nor perpetually, will I be wroth, For, spirit, before me, would faint, Even the breathing souls, which, I, had made.

17. उसके लोभ के पाप के कारण मैं ने क्रोधित होकर उसको दु:ख दिया था, और क्रोध के मारे उस से मुंह छिपाया था; परन्तु वह अपने मनमाने मार्ग में दूर भटकता चला गया था।

17. Because of his iniquitous gain, was I wroth and smote him Hiding myself that I might be wroth, But he went on turning aside in the way of his own heart.

18. मैं उसकी चाल देखता आया हूं, तौभी अब उसको चंगा करूंगा; मैं उसे ले चलूंगा और विशेष करके उसके शोक करनेवालों को शान्ति दूंगा।

18. His ways, have I beheld, That I might heal him, And guide him, And restore consolations to him and to his mourners:

19. मैं मुंह के फल का सृजनहार हूं; यहोवा ने कहा है, जो दूर और जो निकट हैं, दोनों को पूरी शान्ति मिले; और मैं उसको चंगा करूंगा।

19. Creating the fruit of the lips Prosperity! Prosperity! For him that is far off and for him that is near saith Yahweh, So should I heal him.

20. परन्तु दुष्ट तो लहराते समुुद्र के समान है जो स्थिर नहीं रह सकता; और उसका जल मैल और कीच उछालता है।
यहूदा 1:13

20. But, the lawless, are like the sea when tossed, For, rest, it cannot! But its waters toss out mire and dirt.

21. दुष्टों के लिये शान्ति नहीं है, मेरे परमेश्वर का यही वचन है।।

21. No well-being, saith my God, to the lawless!
