1. मन की युक्ति मनुष्य के वश में रहती है, परन्तु मुंह से कहना यहोवा की ओर से होता है।

1. A person is responsible to prepare his heart, but how the tongue speaks is from ADONAI.

2. मनुष्य का सारा चालचलन अपनी दृष्टि में पवित्रा ठहरता है, परन्तु यहोवा मन को तौलता है।

2. All a man's ways are pure in his own view, but ADONAI weighs the spirit.

3. अपने कामों को यहोवा पर डाल दे, इस से तेरी कल्पनाएं सिद्ध होंगी।

3. If you entrust all you do to ADONAI, your plans will achieve success.

4. यहोवा ने सब वस्तुएं विशेष उ :श्य के लिये बनाई हैं, वरन दुष्ट को भी विपत्ति भोगने के लिये बनाया है।

4. ADONAI made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of disaster.

5. सब मन के घमण्डियों से यहोवा घृणा करता है करता है; मैं दृढ़ता से कहता हूं, ऐसे लोग निर्दोष न ठहरेंगे।

5. ADONAI detests all those with proud hearts; be assured that they will not go unpunished.

6. अधर्म का प्रायश्चित कृपा, और सच्चाई से होता है, और यहोवा के भय मानने के द्वारा मनुष्य बुराई करने से बच जाते हैं।

6. Grace and truth atone for iniquity, and people turn from evil through fear of ADONAI.

7. जब किसी का चालचलन यहोवा को भवता है, तब वह उसके शत्रुओं का भी उस से मेल कराता है।

7. When a man's ways please ADONAI, he makes even the man's enemies be at peace with him.

8. अन्याय के बड़े लाभ से, न्याय से थोड़ा ही प्राप्त करना उत्तम है।

8. Better a little with righteousness than a huge income with injustice.

9. मनुष्य मन में अपने मार्ग पर विचार करता है, परन्तु यहोवा ही उसके पैरों को स्थिर करता है।

9. A person may plan his path, but ADONAI directs his steps.

10. राजा के मुंह से दैवीवाणी निकलती है, न्याय करने में उस से चूक नहीं होती।

10. Divine inspiration is on the lips of the king, so his mouth must be faithful when he judges.

11. सच्चा तराजू और पलड़े यहोवा की ओर से होते हैं, थैली में जितने बटखरे हैं, सब उसी के बनवाए हुए हैं।

11. The balance and scales of justice have their origin in ADONAI; all the weights in the bag are his doing.

12. दुष्टता करना राजाओं के लिये घृणित काम है, क्योंकि उनकी गद्दी धर्म ही से स्थिर रहती है।

12. It is an abomination for a king to do evil, for the throne is made secure by righteousness.

13. धर्म की बात बोलनेवालों से राजा प्रसन्न होता है, और जो सीधी बातें बोलता है, उस से वह प्रेम रखता है।

13. The king should delight in righteous lips, and he should love someone who speaks what is right.

14. राजा का क्रोध मृत्यु के दूत के समान है, परन्तु बुद्धिमान मनुष्य उसको ठण्डा करता है।

14. The king's anger is a herald of death, and one who is wise will appease it.

15. राजा के मुख की चमक में जीवन रहता है, और उसकी प्रसन्नता बरसात के अन्त की घटा के समान होती है।

15. When the king's face brightens, it means life; his favor is like the clouds that bring spring rain.

16. बुद्धि की प्राप्ति चोखे सोने से क्या ही उत्तम है! और समझ की प्राप्ति चान्दी से अति योग्य है।

16. How much better than gold it is to gain wisdom! Yes, rather than money, choose to gain understanding.

17. बुराई से हटना सीधे लोगों के लिये राजमार्ग है, जो अपने चालचलन की चौकसी करता, वह अपने प्राण की भी रक्षा करता है।

17. Avoiding evil is the highway of the upright; he who watches his step preserves his life.

18. विनाश से पहिले गर्व, और ठोकर खाने से पहिले घमण्ड होता है।

18. Pride goes before destruction, and arrogance before failure.

19. घमण्डियों के संग लूट बांट लने से, दीन लोगों के संग नम्र भाव से रहना उत्तम है।

19. Better to be humble among the poor than share the spoil with the proud.

20. जो वचन पर मन लगाता, वह कल्याण पाता है, और जो यहोवा पर भरोसा रखता, वह धन्य होता है।

20. He who has skill in a matter will succeed; he who trusts in ADONAI will be happy.

21. जिसके हृदय में बुद्धि है, वह समझवाला कहलाता है, और मधुर वाणी के द्वारा ज्ञान बढ़ता है।

21. A wise-hearted person is said to have discernment, and sweetness of speech adds to learning.

22. जिसके बुद्धि है, उसके लिये वह जीवन का सोता है, परन्तु मूढ़ों को शिक्षा देना मूढ़ता ही होती है।

22. Common sense is a fountain of life to one who has it, whereas fools are punished by their own folly.

23. बुद्धिमान का मन उसके मुंह पर भी बुद्धिमानी प्रगट करता है, और उसके वचन में विद्या रहती है।

23. The wise man's heart teaches his mouth, and to his lips it adds learning.

24. मनभावने वचन मधुभरे छते की नाईं प्राणों को मीठे लगते, और हडि्डयों को हरी- भरी करते हैं।

24. Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the taste and healing for the body.

25. ऐसा भी मार्ग है, जो मनुष्य को सीधा देख पड़ता है, परन्तु उसके अन्त में मृत्यु ही मिलती है।

25. There can be a way which seems right to a person, but at its end are the ways of death.

26. परिश्रमी की लालसा उसके लिये परिश्रम करती है, उसकी भूख तो उसको उभारती रहती है।

26. A working man's appetite acts on his behalf, because his hunger presses him on.

27. अधर्मी मनुष्य बुराई की युक्ति निकालता है, और उसके वचनों से आग लगा जाती है।

27. A worthless person digs up evil [[gossip]]- it is like scorching fire on his lips.

28. टेढ़ा मनुष्य बहुत झगड़े को उठाता है, और कानाफूसी करनेवाला परम मित्रों में भी फूट करा देता है।

28. A deceitful person stirs up strife, and a slanderer can separate even close friends.

29. उपद्रवी मनुष्य अपने पड़ोसी को फुसलाकर कुमार्ग पर चलाता है।

29. A violent man lures his neighbor astray and leads him into evil ways.

30. आंख मूंदनेवाला छल की कल्पनाएं करता है, और ओंठ दबानेवाला बुराई करता है।

30. One who winks knowingly is planning deceit; one who pinches his lips together has already done wrong.

31. पक्के बाल शोभायमान मुकुट ठहरते हैं; वे धर्म के मार्ग पर चलने से प्राप्त होते हैं।

31. White hair is a crown of honor obtained by righteous living.

32. विलम्ब से क्रोध करना वीरता से, और अपने मन को वश में रखना, नगर के जीत लेने से उत्तम है।

32. He who controls his temper is better than a war hero, he who rules his spirit better than he who captures a city.

33. चिट्ठी डाली जाती तो है, परन्तु उसका निकलना यहोवा ही की ओर से होता है।
