1. मन की युक्ति मनुष्य के वश में रहती है, परन्तु मुंह से कहना यहोवा की ओर से होता है।

1. A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.

2. मनुष्य का सारा चालचलन अपनी दृष्टि में पवित्रा ठहरता है, परन्तु यहोवा मन को तौलता है।

2. A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.

3. अपने कामों को यहोवा पर डाल दे, इस से तेरी कल्पनाएं सिद्ध होंगी।

3. Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan will be achieved.

4. यहोवा ने सब वस्तुएं विशेष उ :श्य के लिये बनाई हैं, वरन दुष्ट को भी विपत्ति भोगने के लिये बनाया है।

4. Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.

5. सब मन के घमण्डियों से यहोवा घृणा करता है करता है; मैं दृढ़ता से कहता हूं, ऐसे लोग निर्दोष न ठहरेंगे।

5. Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this will not go unpunished.

6. अधर्म का प्रायश्चित कृपा, और सच्चाई से होता है, और यहोवा के भय मानने के द्वारा मनुष्य बुराई करने से बच जाते हैं।

6. By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.

7. जब किसी का चालचलन यहोवा को भवता है, तब वह उसके शत्रुओं का भी उस से मेल कराता है।

7. Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies into friends.

8. अन्याय के बड़े लाभ से, न्याय से थोड़ा ही प्राप्त करना उत्तम है।

8. Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.

9. मनुष्य मन में अपने मार्ग पर विचार करता है, परन्तु यहोवा ही उसके पैरों को स्थिर करता है।

9. The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.

10. राजा के मुंह से दैवीवाणी निकलती है, न्याय करने में उस से चूक नहीं होती।

10. The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.

11. सच्चा तराजू और पलड़े यहोवा की ओर से होते हैं, थैली में जितने बटखरे हैं, सब उसी के बनवाए हुए हैं।

11. The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, all the weights in the bag are of his making.

12. दुष्टता करना राजाओं के लिये घृणित काम है, क्योंकि उनकी गद्दी धर्म ही से स्थिर रहती है।

12. Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.

13. धर्म की बात बोलनेवालों से राजा प्रसन्न होता है, और जो सीधी बातें बोलता है, उस से वह प्रेम रखता है।

13. Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.

14. राजा का क्रोध मृत्यु के दूत के समान है, परन्तु बुद्धिमान मनुष्य उसको ठण्डा करता है।

14. The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.

15. राजा के मुख की चमक में जीवन रहता है, और उसकी प्रसन्नता बरसात के अन्त की घटा के समान होती है।

15. When the king's face brightens it spells life, his favour is like the rain in spring.

16. बुद्धि की प्राप्ति चोखे सोने से क्या ही उत्तम है! और समझ की प्राप्ति चान्दी से अति योग्य है।

16. Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.

17. बुराई से हटना सीधे लोगों के लिये राजमार्ग है, जो अपने चालचलन की चौकसी करता, वह अपने प्राण की भी रक्षा करता है।

17. To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.

18. विनाश से पहिले गर्व, और ठोकर खाने से पहिले घमण्ड होता है।

18. Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

19. घमण्डियों के संग लूट बांट लने से, दीन लोगों के संग नम्र भाव से रहना उत्तम है।

19. Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.

20. जो वचन पर मन लगाता, वह कल्याण पाता है, और जो यहोवा पर भरोसा रखता, वह धन्य होता है।

20. Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.

21. जिसके हृदय में बुद्धि है, वह समझवाला कहलाता है, और मधुर वाणी के द्वारा ज्ञान बढ़ता है।

21. The wise of heart is acclaimed as intelligent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.

22. जिसके बुद्धि है, उसके लिये वह जीवन का सोता है, परन्तु मूढ़ों को शिक्षा देना मूढ़ता ही होती है।

22. Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the folly of fools is their own punishment.

23. बुद्धिमान का मन उसके मुंह पर भी बुद्धिमानी प्रगट करता है, और उसके वचन में विद्या रहती है।

23. The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.

24. मनभावने वचन मधुभरे छते की नाईं प्राणों को मीठे लगते, और हडि्डयों को हरी- भरी करते हैं।

24. Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.

25. ऐसा भी मार्ग है, जो मनुष्य को सीधा देख पड़ता है, परन्तु उसके अन्त में मृत्यु ही मिलती है।

25. There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.

26. परिश्रमी की लालसा उसके लिये परिश्रम करती है, उसकी भूख तो उसको उभारती रहती है।

26. A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.

27. अधर्मी मनुष्य बुराई की युक्ति निकालता है, और उसके वचनों से आग लगा जाती है।

27. A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.

28. टेढ़ा मनुष्य बहुत झगड़े को उठाता है, और कानाफूसी करनेवाला परम मित्रों में भी फूट करा देता है।

28. A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.

29. उपद्रवी मनुष्य अपने पड़ोसी को फुसलाकर कुमार्ग पर चलाता है।

29. The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.

30. आंख मूंदनेवाला छल की कल्पनाएं करता है, और ओंठ दबानेवाला बुराई करता है।

30. Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.

31. पक्के बाल शोभायमान मुकुट ठहरते हैं; वे धर्म के मार्ग पर चलने से प्राप्त होते हैं।

31. White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.

32. विलम्ब से क्रोध करना वीरता से, और अपने मन को वश में रखना, नगर के जीत लेने से उत्तम है।

32. Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.
