1. हे मनुष्यों, क्या तुम सचमुच धर्म की बात बोलते हो? और हे मनुष्यवंशियों क्या तुम सीधाई से न्याय करते हो?

1. To the Chanter Destroy not Michtam of David If your minds be upon righteousness in deed, then judge the thing that is right, O ye sons of men.

2. नहीं, तुम मन ही मन में कुटिल काम करते हो; तुम देश भर में उपद्रव करते जाते हो।।

2. But ye imagine mischief in your hearts, and your hands deal with wickedness.

3. दुष्ट लोग जन्मते ही पराए हो जाते हैं, वे पेट से निकलते ही झूठ बालते हुए भटक जाते हैं।

3. The ungodly are froward, even from their mother's womb: as soon as they be born, they go astray and speak lies.

4. उन में सर्प का सा विष है; वे उस नाम के समान हें, जो सुनना नहीं चाहता;

4. They are as furious as the serpent, even like the deaf Adder that stoppeth her ears.

5. और सपेरा कैसी ही निपुणता से क्यों न मंत्रा पढ़े, तौभी उसकी नहीं सुनता।।

5. That she should not hear the voice of the charmer, charm he never so wisely.

6. हे परमेश्वर, उनके मुंह में से दांतों को तोड़ दे; हे यहोवा उन जवान सिंहों की दाढ़ों को उखाड़ डाल!

6. Break their teeth (O God) in their mouths, smite the chaft bones of the lions' whelps in sonder, O LORD.

7. वे घुलकर बहते हुए पानी के समान हो जाएं; जब वे अपने तीर चढ़ाएं, तब तीर मानों दो टुकड़े हो जाएं।

7. That they may fall away, like water that runneth a pace: and that when they shoot their arrows, they may be broken.

8. वे घोंघे के समान हो जाएं जो घुलकर नाश हो जाता है, और स्त्री के गिरे हुए गर्भ के समान हो जिस ने सूरज को देखा ही नहीं।

8. Let them consume away like a snail, and like the untimely fruit of a woman, and let them not see the sunne.(Sonne)

9. उस से पहिले कि तुम्हारी हांबियों में कांटों की आंच लगे, हरे व जले, दोनों को वह बवंडर से उड़ा ले जाएगा।।

9. Or ever your thorns be sharp, that wrath shall take them away quick, like a stormy wind.

10. धर्मी ऐसा पलटा देखकर आनन्दित होगा; वह अपने पांव दुष्ट के लोहू में धोएगा।।

10. The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance, and shall wash his feet in the blood of the ungodly.

11. तब मनुष्य कहने लगेंगे, निश्चय धर्मी के लिये फल है; निश्चय परमेश्वर है, जो पृथ्वी पर न्याय करता है।।

11. So that men shall say, verily there is a reward for the righteous: doubtless, there is a God that judgeth the earth.
