1. हे मनुष्यों, क्या तुम सचमुच धर्म की बात बोलते हो? और हे मनुष्यवंशियों क्या तुम सीधाई से न्याय करते हो?

1. Do you rulers really say what is right? Do you judge people fairly?

2. नहीं, तुम मन ही मन में कुटिल काम करते हो; तुम देश भर में उपद्रव करते जाते हो।।

2. No, in your heart you plan evil; you think up violent crimes in the land.

3. दुष्ट लोग जन्मते ही पराए हो जाते हैं, वे पेट से निकलते ही झूठ बालते हुए भटक जाते हैं।

3. From birth, evil people turn away from God; they wander off and tell lies as soon as they are born.

4. उन में सर्प का सा विष है; वे उस नाम के समान हें, जो सुनना नहीं चाहता;

4. They are like poisonous snakes, like deaf cobras that stop up their ears

5. और सपेरा कैसी ही निपुणता से क्यों न मंत्रा पढ़े, तौभी उसकी नहीं सुनता।।

5. so they cannot hear the music of the snake charmer no matter how well he plays.

6. हे परमेश्वर, उनके मुंह में से दांतों को तोड़ दे; हे यहोवा उन जवान सिंहों की दाढ़ों को उखाड़ डाल!

6. God, break the teeth in their mouths! Tear out the fangs of those lions, Lord!

7. वे घुलकर बहते हुए पानी के समान हो जाएं; जब वे अपने तीर चढ़ाएं, तब तीर मानों दो टुकड़े हो जाएं।

7. Let them disappear like water that flows away. Let them be cut short like a broken arrow.

8. वे घोंघे के समान हो जाएं जो घुलकर नाश हो जाता है, और स्त्री के गिरे हुए गर्भ के समान हो जिस ने सूरज को देखा ही नहीं।

8. Let them be like snails that melt as they move. Let them be like a child born dead who never saw the sun.

9. उस से पहिले कि तुम्हारी हांबियों में कांटों की आंच लगे, हरे व जले, दोनों को वह बवंडर से उड़ा ले जाएगा।।

9. His anger will blow them away alive faster than burning thorns can heat a pot.

10. धर्मी ऐसा पलटा देखकर आनन्दित होगा; वह अपने पांव दुष्ट के लोहू में धोएगा।।

10. Good people will be glad when they see him get even. They will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked.

11. तब मनुष्य कहने लगेंगे, निश्चय धर्मी के लिये फल है; निश्चय परमेश्वर है, जो पृथ्वी पर न्याय करता है।।

11. Then people will say, 'There really are rewards for doing what is right. There really is a God who judges the world.'
