1. Eliphaz from Teman said:

2. क्या पुरूष से ईश्वर को लाभ पहुंच सकता है? जो बुध्दिमान है, वह अपने ही लाभ का कारण होता है।

2. What use are we humans to God, even the wisest of us?

3. क्या तेरे धम होने से सर्वशक्तिमान सुख पा सकता है? तेरी चाल की खराई से क्या उसे कुछ लाभ हो सकता है?

3. If you were completely sinless, that would still mean nothing to God All-Powerful.

4. वह तो तुझे डांटता है, और तुझ से मुक मा लड़ता है, तो क्या इस दशा में तेरी भक्ति हो सकती है?

4. Is he correcting you for worshiping him?

5. क्या तेरी बुराई बहुत नहीं? तेरे अधर्म के कामों का कुछ अन्त नहीं।

5. No! It's because of your terrible sins.

6. तू ने तो अपने भाई का बन्धक अकारण रख लिया है, और नंगे के वस्त्रा उतार लिये हैं।

6. To guarantee payment of a debt, you have taken clothes from the poor.

7. थके हुए को तू ने पानी न पिलाया, और भूखे को रोटी देने से इनकार किया।

7. And you refused bread and water to the hungry and thirsty,

8. जो बलवान था उसी को भूमि मिली, और जिस पुरूष की प्रतिष्ठा हुई थी, वही उस में बस गया।

8. although you were rich, respected, and powerful.

9. तू ने विधवाओं को छूछे हाथ लौटा दिया। और अनाथों की बाहें तोड़ डाली गई।

9. You have turned away widows and have broken the arms of orphans.

10. इस कारण तेरे चारों ओर फन्दे लगे हैं, और अचानक डर के मारे तू घगरा रहा है।

10. That's why you were suddenly trapped by terror,

11. क्या तू अन्धियारे को नहीं देखता, और उस बाढ़ को जिस में तू डूब रहा है?

11. blinded by darkness, and drowned in a flood.

12. क्या ईश्वर स्वर्ग के ऊंचे स्थान में नहीं है? ऊंचे से ऊंचे तारों को देख कि वे कितने ऊंचे हैं।।

12. God lives in the heavens above the highest stars, where he sees everything.

13. फिर तू कहता है कि ईश्वर क्या जानता है? क्या वह घोर अन्धकार की आड़ में होकर न्याय करेगा?

13. Do you think the deep darkness hides you from God?

14. काली घटाओं से वह ऐसा छिपा रहता है कि वह कुछ नहीं देख सकता, वह तो आकाशमणडल ही के ऊपर चलता फिरता है।

14. Do thick clouds cover his eyes, as he walks around heaven's dome high above the earth?

15. क्या तू उस पुराने रास्ते को पकड़े रहेगा, जिस पर वे अनर्थ करनेवाले चलते हैं?

15. Give up those ancient ideas believed by sinners,

16. वे अपने समय से पहले उठा लिए गए और उनके घर की नेव नदी बहा ले गई।

16. who were swept away without warning.

17. उन्हों ने ईश्वर से कहा था, हम से दूर हो जा; और यह कि सर्वशक्तिमान हमारा क्या कर सकता है?

17. They rejected God All-Powerful, feeling he was helpless,

18. तौभी उस ने उनके घर अच्छे अच्छे पदाथसे भर दिए-- परन्तु दुष्ट लोगों का विचार मुझ से दूर रहे।

18. although he had been kind to their families. The beliefs of these sinners are truly disgusting.

19. धम लेग देखकर आनन्दित होते हैं; और निदष लोग उनकी हंसी करते हैं, कि

19. When God's people see the godless swept away, they celebrate,

20. जो हमारे विरूद्ध उठे थे, निेसन्देह मिट गए और उनका बड़ा धन आग का कौर हो गया है।

20. saying, 'Our enemies are gone, and fire has destroyed their possessions.'

21. उस से मेलमिलाप कर तब तुझे शान्ति मिलेगी; और इस से तेरी भलाई होगी।

21. Surrender to God All-Powerful! You will find peace and prosperity.

22. उसके मुंह से शिक्षा सुन ले, और उसके वचन अपने मन में रख।

22. Listen to his teachings and take them to heart.

23. यदि तू सर्वशक्तिमान की ओर फिरके समीप जाए, और अपने डेरे से कुटिल काम दूर करे, तो तू बन जाएगा।

23. If you return to God and turn from sin, all will go well for you.

24. तू अपनी अनमोल वस्तुओं को धूलि पर, वरन ओपीर का कुन्दन भी नालों के पत्थरों में डाल दे,

24. So get rid of your finest gold, as though it were sand.

25. तब सर्वशक्तिमान आप तेरी अनमोल वस्तु और तेरे लिये चमकीली चान्दी होगा।

25. Let God All-Powerful be your silver and gold,

26. तब तू सर्वशक्तिमान से सुख पाएगा, और ईश्वर की ओर अपना मुंह बेखटके उठा सकेगा।

26. and you will find happiness by worshiping him.

27. और तू उस से प्रार्थना करेगा, और वह तेरी सुनेगा; और तू अपनी मन्नतों को पूरी करेगा।

27. God will answer your prayers, and you will keep the promises you made to him.

28. जो बात तू ठाने वह तुझ से बन भी पड़ेगी, और तेरे माग पर प्रकाश रहेगा।

28. He will do whatever you ask, and life will be bright.

29. चाहे दुर्भाग्य हो तौभी तू कहेगा कि सुभाग्य होगा, क्योंकि वह नम्र मनुष्य को बचाता है।
मत्ती 23:12, 1 पतरस 5:6

29. When others are disgraced, God will clear their names in answer to your prayers.

30. वरन जो निदष न हो उसको भी वह बचाता है; तेरे शुठ्ठ कामों के कारण तू छुड़ाया जाएगा।

30. Even those who are guilty will be forgiven, because you obey God.
