1. और सोर के राजा हीराम ने दाऊद के पास दूत भेजे, और उसका भवन बनाने को देवदारू की लकड़ी और राज और बढ़ई भेजे।

1. And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers unto David, and timber of cedars, with masons and artificers, to build for him a house.

2. और दाऊद को निश्चय हो गया कि यहोवा ने मुझे इस्राएल का राजा करके स्थिर किया, क्योंकि उसकी प्रजा इस्राएल के निमित्त उसका राज्य अत्यन्त बढ़ गया था।

2. So David perceived, that Yahweh, had confirmed him, as king over Israel, that his kingship was exalted, for the sake of his people Israel.

3. और यरूशलेम में दाऊद ने और स्त्रियां ब्याह लीं, और उन से और बेटे- बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई।

3. And David took more wives, in Jerusalem, and David begat more sons and daughters.

4. उसके जो सन्तान यरूशलेम में उत्पन्न हुए, उनके नाम ये हैं : अर्थात् शम्मू,शोबाब, नातान, सुलैमान;

4. Now, these, are the names of them who were born, whom he had in Jerusalem, Shammua and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon;

5. यिभार, एलीशू, एलपेलेत;

5. and Ibhar and Elishua, and Elpelet;

6. नोगह, नेपेग, यापी, एलीशामा,

6. and Nogah and Nepheg, and Japhia;

7. बेल्यादा और एलीपेलेद।

7. and Elishama and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8. जब पलिश्तियों ने सुना कि पूरे इस्राएल का राजा होने के लिये दाऊद का अभिषेक हुआ, तब सब पलिश्तियों ने दाऊद की खोज में चढ़ाई की; यह सुनकर दाऊद उनका साम्हना करने को निकल गया।

8. And, when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek to secure David, and David, hearing, went out against them.

9. और पलिश्ती आए और रपाईम नाम तराई में धावा मारा।

9. Now, the Philistines, had come and spread themselves out, in the vale of Rephaim.

10. तब दाऊद ने परमेश्वर से पूछा, क्या मैं पलिश्तियों पर चढ़ाई करूं? और कया तू उन्हें मेरे हाथ में कर देगा? यहोवा ने उस से कहा, चढ़ाई कर, क्योंकि मैं उन्हें तेरे हाथ में कर दूंगा।

10. Then David asked of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Yahweh said to him, Go up, and I will deliver them into thy hand.

11. इसलिये जब वे बालपरासीम को आए, तब दाऊद ने उन को वहीं मार लिया; तब दाऊद ने कहा, परमेश्वर मेरे द्वारा मेरे शत्रुओं पर जल की धारा की नाई टूट पड़ा है। इस कारण उस स्थान का नाम बालपरासीम रखा गया।

11. So they came up in Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and David said, God hath broken forth against mine enemies by my hand, like the breaking forth of waters, For this cause, called they the name of that place, Baal-perazim.

12. वहां वे अपने देवताओं को छोड़ गए, और दाऊद को आज्ञा से वे आग लगाकर फूंक दिए गए।

12. And they left their gods there, and David gave the word, and they were burned up in fire.

13. फिर दूसरी बार पलिश्तियों ने उसी तीई में धावा मारा।

13. And the Philistines yet again spread themselves out in the vale.

14. तब दाऊद ने परमेश्वर से फिर पूछा, और परमेश्वर ने उस से कहा, उनका पीछा मत कर; उन से मुड़कर तूत के वृक्षों के साम्हने से उन पर छापा मार।

14. So David, asked again, of God, and God said to him, Thou shalt not go up after them, get thee round, away from them, so shalt thou come in upon them, over against the mulberry-trees;

15. और जब तूत के वृक्षों की फुनगियों में से सेना के चलने की सी आहट तुझे सुन पड़े, तब यह जानकर युठ्ठ करने को निकल जाना कि परमेश्वर पलिश्तियों की सेना को मारने के लिये तेरे आगे जा रहा है।

15. and it shall be, when thou hearest a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, then, shalt thou go forth into the battle, for God will have gone forth before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

16. परमेश्वर की इस आज्ञा के अनुसार दाऊद ने किया, और इस्राएलियों ने पलिश्तियों की सेना को गिबोन से लेकर गेजेर तक मार लिया।

16. So David did as God commanded him, and they smote the host of the Philistines, from Gibeon even unto Gezer.

17. तब दाऊद की कीर्त्ति सब देशों में फैल गई, और यहोवा ने सब जातियों के मन में उसका भय भर दिया।

17. And the name of David went forth, throughout all the lands, and, Yahweh, put the dread of him upon all the nations.
