2. led them to Baalah in Judah, which was also called Kiriath-Jearim. They were going there to get the sacred chest and bring it back to Jerusalem. The throne of the LORD All-Powerful is above the winged creatures on top of this chest, and he is worshiped there.

3. तब उन्हों ने परमेश्वर का सन्दूक एक नई गाड़ी पर चढ़ाकर टीले पर रहनेवाले अबीनादाब के घर से निकाला; और अबीनादाब के उज्जा और अहह्यो नाम दो पुत्रा उस नई गाड़ी को हांकने लगे।

3. They put the sacred chest on a new ox cart and started bringing it down the hill from Abinadab's house. Abinadab's sons Uzzah and Ahio were guiding the ox cart,

4. और उन्हों ने उसको परमेश्वर के सन्दूक समेत टीले पर रहनेवाले अबीनादाब के घर से बाहर निकाला; और अहह्यो सन्दूक के आगे आगे चला।

4. with Ahio walking in front of it.

5. और दाऊद और इस्राएल का समस्त घराना यहोवा के आगे सनौवर की लकड़ी के बने हुए सब प्रकार के बाजे और वीणा, सारंगियां, डफ, डमरू, झांझ बजाते रहे।

5. Some of the people of Israel were playing music on small harps and other stringed instruments, and on tambourines, castanets, and cymbals. David and the others were happy, and they danced for the LORD with all their might.

6. जब वे नाकोन के खलिहान तक आए, तब उज्जा ने अपना हाथ परमेश्वर के सन्दूक की ओर बढ़ाकर उसे थाम लिया, क्योंकि बैलों ने ठोकर खाई।

6. But when they came to Nacon's threshing-floor, the oxen stumbled, so Uzzah reached out and took hold of the sacred chest.

7. तब यहोवा का कोप उज्जा पर भड़क उठा; और परमेश्वर ने उसके दोेष के कारण उसको वहां ऐसा मारा, कि वह वहां परमेश्वर के सन्दूक के पास मर गया।

7. The LORD God was very angry at Uzzah for doing this, and he killed Uzzah right there beside the chest.

8. तब दाऊद अप्रसन्न हुआ, इसलिये कि यहोवा उज्जा पर टूट पड़ा था; और उस ने उस स्थान का नाम पेरेसुज्जा रखा, यह नाम आज के दिन तक वर्तमान है।

8. David got angry at God for killing Uzzah. He named that place 'Bursting Out Against Uzzah,' and that's what it's still called.

9. और उस दिन दाऊद यहोवा से डरकर कहने लगा, यहोवा का सन्दूक मेरे यहां क्योंकर आए?

9. David was afraid of the LORD and thought, 'Should I really take the sacred chest to my city?'

10. इसलिये दाऊद ने यहोवा के सन्दूक को अपने यहां दाऊदपुर में पहुंचाना न चाहा; परन्तु गतवासी ओबेदेदोम के यहां पहुंचाया।

10. He decided not to take it there. Instead, he turned off the road and took it to the home of Obed Edom, who was from Gath.

11. और यहोवा का सन्दूक गती ओबेदेदोम के घर में तीन महीने रहा; और यहोवा ने ओबेदेदोम और उसके समस्त घराने को आशिष दी।

11. The chest stayed there for three months, and the LORD greatly blessed Obed Edom, his family, and everything he owned. Then someone told King David, 'The LORD has done this because the sacred chest is in Obed Edom's house.' Right away, David went to Obed Edom's house to get the chest and bring it to David's City. Everyone was celebrating.

12. तब दाऊद राजा को यह बताया गया, कि यहोवा ने ओबेदेदोम के घराने पर, और जो कुछ उसका है, उस पर भी परमेश्वर के सन्दूक के कारण आशिष दी है। तब दाऊद ने जाकर परमेश्वर के सन्दूक को ओबेदेदोम के घर से दाऊदपुर में आनन्द के साथ पहूंचा दिया।

13. जब यहोवा के सन्दूक के उठानेवाले छे कदम चल चुके, तब दाऊद ने एक बैल और एक पाला पोसा हुआ बछड़ा बलि कराया।

13. The people carrying the chest walked six steps, then David sacrificed an ox and a choice cow.

14. और दाऊद सनी का एपोद कमर में कसे हुए यहोवा के सम्मुख तन मन से नाचता रहा।

14. He was dancing for the LORD with all his might, but he wore only a linen cloth.

15. यों दाऊद और इस्राएल का समस्त घराना यहोवा के सन्दूक को जय जयकार करते और नरसिंगा फूंकते हुए ले चला।

15. He and everyone else were celebrating by shouting and blowing horns while the chest was being carried along.

16. जब यहोवा का सन्दूक दाऊदपुर में आ रहा था, तब शाऊल की बेटी मीकल ने खिड़की में से झांककर दाऊद राजा को यहोवा के सम्मुख नाचते कूदते देखा, और उसे मन ही मन तुच्छ जाना।

16. Saul's daughter Michal looked out her window and watched the chest being brought into David's City. But when she saw David jumping and dancing for the LORD, she was disgusted.

17. और लोग यहोवा का सन्दूक भीतर ले आए, और उसके स्थान में, अर्थात् उस तम्बू में रखा, जो दाऊद ने उसके लिये खड़ा कराया था; और दाऊद ने यहोवा के सम्मुख होमबलि और मेलबलि चढ़ाए।

17. They put the chest inside a tent that David had set up for it. David worshiped the LORD by sacrificing animals and burning them on an altar,

18. जब दाऊद होमबलि और मेलबलि चढ़ा चुका, तब उस ने सेनाओं के यहोवा के नाम से प्रजा को आशीर्वाद दिया।

18. then he blessed the people in the name of the LORD All-Powerful.

19. तब उस ने समस्त प्रजा को, अर्थात्, क्या स्त्री क्या पुरूष, समस्त इस्राएली भीड़ के लोगों को एक एक रोटी, और एक एक टुकड़ा मांस, और किशमिश की एक एक टिकिया बंटवा दी। तब प्रजा के सब लोग अपने अपने घर चले गए।

19. He gave all the men and women in the crowd a small loaf of bread, some meat, and a handful of raisins, and everyone went home.

20. तब दाऊद अपने घराने को आशीर्वाद देने के लिये लौटा। और शाऊल की बेटी मीकल दाऊद से मिलने को निकली, और कहने लगी, आज इस्राएल का राजा जब अपना शरीर अपने कर्मचारियों की लौंडियों के साम्हने ऐसा उघाड़े हुए था, जैसा कोई निकम्मा अपना तन उघाढ़े रहता है, तब क्या ही प्रतापी देख पड़ता था !

20. David went home so he could ask the LORD to bless his family. But Saul's daughter Michal went out and started yelling at him. 'You were really great today!' she said. 'You acted like a dirty old man, dancing around half-naked in front of your servants' slave-girls.'

21. दाऊद ने मीकल से कहा, यहोवा, जिस ने तेरे पिता और उसके समस्त घराने की सन्ती मुझ को चुनकर अपनी प्रजा इस्राएल का प्रधान होने को ठहरा दिया है, उसके सम्मुख मैं ने ऐसा खेला-- और मैं यहोवा के सम्मुख इसी प्रकार खेला करूंगा।

21. David told her, 'The LORD didn't choose your father or anyone else in your family to be the leader of his people. The LORD chose me, and I was celebrating in honor of him.

22. और इस से भी मैं अधिक तुच्छ बनूंगा, और अपने लेखे नीच ठहरूंगा; और जिन लौंडियों की तू ने चर्चा की वे भी मेरा आदरमान करेंगी।

22. I'll show you just how great I can be! I'll even be disgusting to myself. But those slave-girls you talked about will still honor me!'

23. और शाऊल की बेटी मीकल के मरने के दिन तक उसके कोई सन्तान न हुआ।

23. Michal never had any children.
