1. इसलिये आओ मसीह की शिक्षा की आरम्भ की बातों को छोड़कर, हम सिद्धता की ओर बढ़ते जाएं, और मरे हुए कामों से मन फिराने, और परमेश्वर पर विश्वास करने।

1. Therefore, leaving now the word of the beginning [of the establishment] of the Christ, let us go on unto perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from works of death, and of faith in God,

2. और बपतिस्मों और हाथ रखने, और मरे हुओं के जी उठने, और अन्तिम न्याय की शिक्षारूपी नेव, फिर से न डालें।

2. of the doctrine of [the] baptisms, and of [the] laying on of hands, and of [the] resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

3. और यदि परमेश्वर चाहे, तो हम यहीं करेंगे।

3. And this we will indeed do, if God permits.

4. क्योंकि जिन्हों ने एक बार ज्योति पाई है, जो स्वर्गीय वरदान का स्वाद चख चुके हैं और पवित्रा आत्मा के भागी हो गए हैं।

4. For [it is] impossible that those who once received the light and tasted of that heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit

5. और परमेश्वर के उत्तम वचन का और आनेवाले युग की सामर्थों का स्वाद चख चुके हैं।

5. and likewise have tasted the good word of God and the virtue of the age to come,

6. यदि वे भटक जाएं; तो उन्हें मन फिराव के लिये फिर नया बनाना अन्होना है; क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर के पुत्रा को अपने लिये फिर क्रूस पर चढ़ाते हैं और प्रगट में। उस पर कलंक लगाते हैं।

6. and have backslidden, be renewed again by repentance, crucifying again for themselves the Son of God and putting him to an open shame.

7. क्योंकि जो भूमि वर्षा के पानी को जो उस पर बार बार पड़ता है, पी पीकर जिन लोगों के लिये वह जोती- बोई जाती है, उन के काम का साग- पात उपजाती है, वह परमेश्वर से आशीष पाती है।

7. For the earth which drinks in the rain that comes often upon it and brings forth herbs in season for those by whom it is dressed receives blessing from God;

8. पर यदि वह झाड़ी और ऊंटकटारे उगाती है, तो निकम्मी और स्रापित होने पर है, और उसका अन्त जलाया जाना है।।

8. but that which bears thorns and briers [is] rejected and [is] near unto cursing, whose end [shall be] by fire.

9. पर हे प्रियो यद्यपि हम ये बातें कहते हैं तौभी तुम्हारे विषय में हम इस से अच्छा और उद्धारवाली बातों का भरोसा करते हैं।

9. But, beloved, we expect better things than these of you, [things] near unto saving health, though we thus speak.

10. क्योंकि परमेश्वर अन्यायी नहीं, कि तुम्हारे काम, और उस प्रेम को भूल जाए, जो तुम ने उनके नाम के लिये इस रीति से दिखाया, कि पवित्रा लोगों की सेवा की, और कर रहे हो।

10. For God [is] not unjust to forget your work and labour of charity which ye have showed in his name, having helped the saints and helping them.

11. पर हम बहुत चाहते हैं, कि तुम में से हर एक जन अन्त तक पूरी आशा के लिये ऐसा ही प्रयत्न करता रहे।

11. But we desire that each one of you show the same diligence until the end for the fulfillment of [your] hope,

12. ताकि तुम आलसी न हो जाओ; बरन उन का अनुकरण करो, जो विश्वास और धीरज के द्वारा प्रतिज्ञाओं के वारिस होते हैं।

12. that ye not become slothful, but imitators of those who by faith and patience inherit the promises.

13. और परमेश्वर ने इब्राहीम को प्रतिज्ञा देते समय जब कि शपथ खाने के लिये किसी को अपने से बड़ा न पाया, तो अपनी ही शपथ खाकर कहा।

13. For when God promised unto Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself,

14. कि मैं सचमुच तुझे बहुत आशीष दूंगा, और तेरी सन्तान को बढ़ाता जाऊंगा।

14. saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee and multiplying I will multiply thee.

15. और इस रीति से उस ने धीरज धरकर प्रतिज्ञा की हुई बात प्राप्त की।

15. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

16. मनुष्य तो अपने से किसी बड़े की शपथ खाया करते हैं और उन के हर एक विवाद का फैसला शपथ से पक्का होता है।

16. For men verily swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation [is] to them an end of all controversy.

17. इसलिये जब परमेश्वर ने प्रतिज्ञा के वारिसों पर और भी साफ रीति से प्रगट करना चाहा, कि उसकी मनसा बदल नहीं सकती तो शपथ को बीच में लाया।

17. In which God, desiring to show more abundantly unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed [it] by an oath,

18. ताकि दो बे- बदल बातों के द्वारा जिन के विषय में परमेश्वर का झूठा ठहरना अन्होना है, हमारा दृढ़ता से ढाढ़स बन्ध जाए, जो शरण लेने को इसलिये दौड़े है, कि उस आशा को जो साम्हने रखी हुई है प्राप्त करें।

18. that by two immutable things, in which [it is] impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us,
