1. WHO IS this Who comes from Edom, with crimson-stained garments from Bozrah [in Edom]? This One Who is glorious in His apparel, striding triumphantly in the greatness of His might? It is I, [the One] Who speaks in righteousness [proclaiming vindication], mighty to save!

2. तेरा पहिरावा क्यों लाल है? और क्या कारण है कि तेरे वस्त्रा हौद में दाख रौंदनेवाले के समान हैं?

2. Why is Your apparel splashed with red, and Your garments like the one who treads in the winepress?

3. I have trodden the winepress alone, and of the peoples there was no one with Me. I trod them in My anger and trampled them in My wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled upon My garments, and I stained all My raiment.

4. For the day of vengeance was in My heart, and My year of redemption [the year of My redeemed] has come.

5. मैं ने खोजा, पर कोई सहायक न दिखाई पड़ा; मैं ने इस से अचम्भा भी किया कि कोई सम्भालनेवाला नहीं था; तब मैं ने अपने ही भुजबल से उद्धार किया, और मेरी जलजलाहट ही ने मुझे सम्हाला।

5. And I looked, but there was no one to help; I was amazed and appalled that there was no one to uphold [truth and right]. So My own arm brought Me victory, and My wrath upheld Me.

6. हां, मैं ने अपने क्रोध में आकर देश देश के लोगों को लताड़ा, अपनी जलजलाहट से मैं ने उन्हें मतवाला कर दिया, और उनके लोहू को भूमि पर बहा दिया।।

6. I trod down the peoples in My anger and made them drink of the cup of My wrath until they were intoxicated, and I spilled their lifeblood upon the earth.

7. जितना उपकार यहोवा ने हम लोगों का किया अर्थात् इस्राएल के घराने पर दया और अत्यन्त करूणा करके उस ने हम से जितनी भलाई, कि उस सब के अनुसार मैं यहोवा के करूणामय कामों का वर्णन और उसका गुणानुवाद करूंगा।

7. I will recount the loving-kindnesses of the Lord and the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has bestowed on us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel, which He has granted them according to His mercy and according to the multitude of His loving-kindnesses.

8. क्योंकि उस ने कहा, निस्न्देह ये मेरी प्रजा के लोग हैं, ऐसे लड़के हैं जो धोखा नदेंगे; और वह उनका उद्धारकर्ता हो गया।

8. For He said, Surely they are My people, sons who will not lie [who will not deal falsely with Me]; and so He was to them a Savior [in all their distresses].

9. उनके सारे संकट में उस ने भी कष्ट उठाया, और उसके सम्मुख रहनेवाले दूत ने उनका उद्धार किया; प्रेम और कोमलता से उस ने आप की उनको छुड़ाया; उस ने उन्हें उठाया और प्राचीनकाल से सदा उन्हें लिए फिरा।

9. In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His presence saved them; in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. [Exod. 23:20-23; 33:14-15; Deut. 1:31; 32:10-12.]

10. But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; therefore He turned to become their enemy and Himself fought against them.

13. जो उनको गहिरे समुद्र में से ले चला; जैसा घोड़े को जंगल में वैसे ही उनको भी ठोकर न लगी, वह कहां है?

13. Who led them through the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, so that they did not stumble?

14. जैसे घरैलू पशु तराई में उतर जाता है, वेैसे ही यहोवा के आत्मा न उनको विश्राम दिया। इसी प्रकार से तू ने अपनी प्रजा की अगुवाई की ताकि अपना नाम महिमायुक्त बनाए।।

14. Like the cattle that go down into the valley [to find better pasturage, refuge, and rest], the Spirit of the Lord caused them to rest. So did You lead Your people [Lord] to make for Yourself a beautiful and glorious name [to prepare the way for the acknowledgment of Your name by all nations].

15. स्वर्ग से, जो तेरा पवित्रा और महिमापूर्ण वासस्थान है, दृष्टि कर। तेरी जलन और पराक्रम कहां रहे? तेरी दया और करूणा मुझ पर से हट गई हैं।

15. Look down from heaven and see from the dwelling place of Your holiness and Your glory. Where are Your zeal and Your jealousy and Your mighty acts [which you formerly did for Your people]? Your yearning pity and the [multitude of] compassions of Your heart are restrained and withheld from me.

16. For [surely] You are our Father, even though Abraham [our ancestor] does not know us and Israel (Jacob) does not acknowledge us; You, O Lord, are [still] our Father, our Redeemer from everlasting is Your name.

17. हे यहोवा, तू क्यों हम को अपने मार्गों से भटका देता, और हमारे मन ऐसे कठोर करता है कि हम तेरा भय नहीं मानते? अपने दास, अपने निज भाग के गोत्रों के निमित्त लौट आ।

17. O Lord, why have You made us [able] to err from Your ways and hardened our hearts to [reverential] fear of You? Return [to bless us] for Your servants' sake, the tribes of Your heritage.

18. तेरी पवित्रा प्रजा तो थोड़े ही काल तक मेरे पवित्रास्थान की अधिकारी रही; हमारे द्रोहियों ने उसे लताड़ दिया है।

18. Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary but a little while; our adversaries have trodden it down.

19. हम लोग तो ऐसे हो गए हैं, मानो तू ने हम पर कभी प्रभुता नहीं की, और उनके समान जो कभी तेरे न कहलाए।।

19. We have become [to You] like those over whom You never exercised rule, like those who were not called by Your name.
