1. और दाऊद सोचने लगा, अब मैं किसी न किसी दिन शाऊल के हाथ से नाश हो जाऊंगा; अब मेरे लिये उत्तम यह है कि मैं पलिश्तियों के देश में भाग जाऊं; तब शाऊल मेरे विषय निराश होगा, और मुझे इस्राएल के देश के किसी भाग में फिर न ढूढ़ेगा, यों मैं उसके हाथ से बच निकलूंगा।

1. And Dauid said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: is it not better for me that I saue my selfe in the lande of the Philistims, and that Saul may haue no hope of me to seeke me any more in all the coastes of Israel, and so escape out of his hand?

2. तब दाऊद अपने छ: सौ संगी पुरूषों को लेकर चला गया, और गत के राजा माओक के पुत्रा आकीश के पास गया।

2. Dauid therefore arose, and he, and the sixe hundreth men that were with him, went vnto Achish the sonne of Maoch King of Gath.

3. और दाऊद और उसके जन अपने अपने परिवार समेत गत में आकीश के पास रहने लगे। दाऊद तो अपनी दो स्त्रियों के साथ, अर्थात् यिज्रेली अहीनोअब, और नाबाल की स्त्री कर्मेली अबीगैल के साथ रहा।

3. And Dauid dwelt with Achish at Gath, he, and his men, euery man with his housholde,Dauid with his two wiues, Ahinoam the Izreelite, and Abigail Nabals wife the Carmelite.

4. जब शाऊल को यह समाचार मिला कि दाऊद गत को भाग गया है, तब उस ने उसे फिर कभी न ढूंढ़ा

4. And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was fled to Gath: so he sought no more for him.

5. दाऊद ने आकीश से कहा, यदि मुझ पर तेरे अनुग्रह की दृष्टि हो, तो देश की किसी बस्ती में मुझे स्थान दिला दे जहां मैं रहूं; तेरा दास तेरे साथ राजधनी में क्यों रहे?

5. And Dauid saide vnto Achish, If I haue nowe founde peace in thine eyes, let them giue me a place in some other citie of the countrey, that I may dwell there: for why should thy seruant dwel in ye head citie of the kingdome with thee?

6. जब आकीश ने उसे उसी दिन सिकलग बस्ती दी; इस कारण से सिकलग आज के दिन तक यहूदा के राजाओं का बना है।।

6. Then Achish gaue him Ziklag that same day: therefore Ziklag pertaineth vnto the kings of Iudah vnto this day.

7. पलिश्तियों के देश में रहते रहते दाऊद को एक वर्ष चार महीने बीत गए।

7. And the time that Dauid dwelt in the countrey of the Philistims, was foure moneths and certaine dayes.

8. और दाऊद ने अपने जनों समेत जाकर गशूरियों, गिर्जियों, और अमालेकियों पर चढ़ाई की; ये जातियां तो प्राचीन काल से उस देश में रहती थीं जो शूर के मार्ग में मि देश तक है।

8. Then Dauid and his men went vp, and inuaded the Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites: for they inhabited the lande from the beginning, from the way, as thou goest to Shur, euen vnto the lande of Egypt.

9. दाऊद ने उस देश को नाश किया, और स्त्री पुरूष किसी को जीवित न छोड़ा, और भेड़- बकरी, गाय- बैल, गदहे, ऊंट, और वस्त्रा लेकर लौटा, और आकीश के पास गया।

9. And Dauid smote the lande, and left neither man nor woman aliue, and tooke sheepe, and oxen, and asses, and camels, and apparell, and returned and came to Achish.

10. आकीश ने पूछा, आज तुम ने चढ़ाई तोनहीं की? दाऊद ने कहा, हां, यहूदा यरहमेलियों और केनियों की दक्खिन दिशा में।

10. And Achish said, Where haue ye bene a rouing this day? And Dauid answered, Against the South of Iudah, and against the South of the Ierahmeelites, and against the South of ye Kenites.

11. दाऊद ने स्त्री पुरूष किसी को जीवित न छोड़ा कि उन्हें गत में पहुंचाए; उस ने सोचा था, कि ऐसा न हो कि वे हमारा काम बताकर यह कहें, कि दाऊद ने ऐसा ऐसा किया है। वरन जब से वह पलिश्तियों के देश में रहता है, तब से उसका काम ऐसा ही है।

11. And Dauid saued neither man nor woman aliue, to bring them to Gath, saying, Lest they should tel on vs, and say, So did Dauid, and so will be his maner all the while that he dwelleth in the countrey of the Philistims.

12. तब आकीश ने दाऊद की बात सच मानकर कहा, यह अपने इस्राएली लागों की दृष्टि में अति घृणित हुआ है; इसलिये यह सदा के लिये मेरा दास बना रहेगा।।

12. And Achish beleeued Dauid, saying, He hath made his people of Israel vtterly to abhorre him: therefore he shalbe my seruant for euer.
