1. और दाऊद को यह समाचार मिला कि पलिश्ती लोग कीला नगर से युद्ध कर रहे हैं, और खलिहानों को लूट रहे हैं।

1. They told David, saying, Behold, the Pelishtim are fighting against Ke`ilah, and are robbing the threshing floors.

2. तब दाऊद ने यहोवा से पूछा, कि क्या मैं जाकर पलिश्तियों को मारूं? यहोवा ने दाऊद से कहा, जा, और पलिश्तियों को मार के कीला को बचा।

2. Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and strike these Pelishtim? the LORD said to David, Go, and strike the Pelishtim, and save Ke`ilah.

3. परन्तु दाऊद के जनों ने उस से कहा, हम तो इस यहूदा देश में भी डरते रहते हैं, यदि हम कीला जाकर पलिश्तियों की सेना का साम्हना करें, तो क्या बहुत अधिक डर में न पड़ेंगे?

3. David's men said to him, Behold, we are afraid here in Yehudah: how much more then if we go to Ke`ilah against the armies of the Pelishtim?

4. तब दाऊद ने यहोवा से फिर पूछा, और यहोवा ने उसे उत्तर देकर कहा, कमर बान्धकर कीला को जा; क्योंकि मैं पलिश्तियों को तेरे हाथ में कर दूंगा।

4. Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. The LORD answered him, and said, Arise, go down to Ke`ilah; for I will deliver the Pelishtim into your hand.

5. इसलिये दाऊद अपने जनों को संग लेकर कीला को गया, और पलिश्तियों से लड़कर उनके पशुओं को हांक लाया, और उन्हें बड़ी मार से मारा। यों दाऊद ने कीला के निवासियों को बचाया।

5. David and his men went to Ke`ilah, and fought with the Pelishtim, and brought away their cattle, and killed them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Ke`ilah.

6. जब अहीमेलेक का पुत्रा एब्यातार दाऊद के पास कीला को भाग गया था, तब हाथ में एपोद लिए हुए गया था।।

6. It happened, when Avyatar the son of Achimelekh fled to David to Ke`ilah, that he came down with an efod in his hand.

7. तब शाऊल को यह समाचार मिला कि दाऊद कीला को गया है। और शाऊल ने कहा, परमेश्वर ने उसे मेरे हाथ में कर दिया है; वह तो फाटक और बेंड़ेवले नगर में घुसकर बन्द हो गया है।

7. It was told Sha'ul that David was come to Ke`ilah. Sha'ul said, God has delivered him into my hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that has gates and bars.

8. तब शाऊल ने अपनी सारी सेना को लड़ाई के लिये बुलवाया, कि कीला को जाकर दाऊद और उसके जनों को घेर ले।

8. Sha'ul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Ke`ilah, to besiege David and his men.

9. तब दाऊद ने जान लिया कि शाऊल मेरी हानि कि युक्ति कर रहा है; इसलिये उस ने एब्यातार याजक से कहा, एपोद को निकट ले आ।

9. David knew that Sha'ul was devising mischief against him; and he said to Avyatar the Kohen, Bring here the efod.

10. तब दाऊद ने कहा, हे इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा, तेरे दास ने निश्चय सुना है कि शाऊल मेरे कारण कीला नगर नाश करने को आना चाहता है।

10. Then said David, O LORD, the God of Yisra'el, your servant has surely heard that Sha'ul seeks to come to Ke`ilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

11. क्या कीला के लोग मुझे उसके वश में कर देंगे? क्या जैसे तेरे दास ने सुना है, वैसे ही शाऊल आएगा? हे इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा, अपने दास को यह बता। यहोवा ने कहा, हां, वह आएगा।

11. Will the men of Ke`ilah deliver me up into his hand? will Sha'ul come down, as your servant has heard? LORD, the God of Yisra'el, I beg you, tell your servant. The LORD said, He will come down.

12. फिर दाऊद ने पूछा, क्या कीला के लोग मुझे और मेरे जनों को शाऊल के वश में कर देंगे? यहोवा ने कहा, हां, वे कर देंगे।

12. Then said David, Will the men of Ke`ilah deliver up to me and my men into the hand of Sha'ul? the LORD said, They will deliver you up.

13. तब दाऊद और उसके जन जो कोई छ: सौ थे कीला से निकल गए, और इधर उधर जहां कहीं जा सके वहां गए। और जब शाऊल को यह बताया गया कि दाऊद कीला से निकला भाग है, तब उस ने वहां जाने की मनसा छोड़ दी।।

13. Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Ke`ilah, and went wherever they could go. It was told Sha'ul that David was escaped from Ke`ilah; and he gave up going there.

14. जब दाऊद जो जंगल के गढ़ों में रहने लगा, और पहाड़ी देश के जीप नाम जंगल में रहा। और शाऊल उसे प्रति दिन ढूंढ़ता रहा, परन्तु परमेश्वर ने उसे उसके हाथ में न पड़ने दिया।

14. David abode in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill-country in the wilderness of Zif. Sha'ul sought him every day, but God didn't deliver him into his hand.

15. और दाऊद ने जान लिया कि शाऊल मेरे प्राण की खोज में निकला है। और दाऊद जीप नाम जंगल के होरेश नाम स्थान में था;

15. David saw that Sha'ul had come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Zif in the wood.

16. कि शाऊल का पुत्रा योनातन उठकर उसके पास होरेश में गया, और परमेश्वर की चर्चा करके उसको ढाढ़स दिलाया।

16. Yonatan, Sha'ul's son, arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

17. उस ने उस से कहा, मत डर; क्योंकि तू मेरे पिता शाऊल के हाथ में न पड़ेगा; और तू ही इस्राएल का राजा होगा, और मैं तेरे नीचे हूंगा; और इस बात को मेरा पिता शाऊल भी जानता है।

17. He said to him, Don't be afraid; for the hand of Sha'ul my father shall not find you; and you shall be king over Yisra'el, and I shall be next to you; and that also Sha'ul my father knows.

18. तब उन दोनों ने यहोवा की शपथ खाकर आपस में वाचा बान्धी; तब दाऊद होरेश में रह गया, और योनातन अपने घर चला गया।

18. They two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Yonatan went to his house.

19. तब जीपी लोग गिबा में शाऊल के पास जाकर कहने लगे, दाऊद तो हमारे पास होरेश के गढ़ों में, अर्थात् उस हकीला नाम पहाड़ी पर छिपा रहता है, जो यशीमोन के दक्खिन की ओर है।

19. Then came up the Zifim to Sha'ul to Gevah, saying, Doesn't David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the wood, in the hill of Hakhilah, which is on the south of the desert?

20. इसलिये अब, हे राजा, तेरी जो इच्छा आने की है, तो आ; और उसको राजा के हाथ में पकड़वा देना हमारा काम होगा।

20. Now therefore, O king, come down, according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him up into the king's hand.

21. शाऊल ने कहा, यहोवा की आशीष तुम पर हो, क्योंकि तुम ने मुझ पर दया की है।

21. Sha'ul said, Blessed be you of the LORD; for you have had compassion on me.

22. तुम चलकर और भी निश्चय कर लो; और देख भालकर जान लो, और उसके अड्डे का पता लगा लो, और बूझो कि उसको वहां किसने देखा है; क्योंकि किसी ने मुझ से कहा है, कि वह बड़ी चतुराई से काम करता है।

22. Please go make yet more sure, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there; for it is told me that he deals very subtly.

23. इसलिये जहां कहीं वह छिपा करता है उन सब स्थानों को देख देखकर पहिचानो, तब निश्चय करके मेरे पास लौट आना। और मैं तुम्हारे साथ चलूंगा, और यदि वह उस देश में कहीं भी हो, तो मैं उसे यहूदा के हजारों में से ढूंढ़ निकालूंगा।

23. See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking-places where he hides himself, and come you again to me of a certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall happen, if he be in the land, that I will search him out among all the thousands of Yehudah.

24. तब वे चलकर शाऊल से पहिले जीप को गए। परन्तु दाऊद अपने जनों समेत माओन नाम जंगल में चला गया था, जो अराबा में यशीमोन के दक्खिन की ओर है।

24. They arose, and went to Zif before Sha'ul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Ma`on, in the `Aravah on the south of the desert.

25. तब शाऊल अपने जनों को साथ लेकर उसकी खोज में गया। इसका समाचार पाकर दाऊद पर्वत पर से उतरके माओन जंगल में रहने लगा। यह सुन शाऊल ने माओन जंगल में दाऊद का पीछा किया।

25. Sha'ul and his men went to seek him. They told David: why he came down to the rock, and abode in the wilderness of Ma`on. When Sha'ul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Ma`on.

26. शाऊल तो पहाड़ की एक ओर, और दाऊद अपेन जनों समेत पहाड़ की दूसरी ओर जा रहा था; और दाऊद शाऊल के डर के मारे जल्दी जा रहा था, और शाऊल अपने जनों समेत दाऊद और उसके जनों को पकड़ने के लिये घेरा बनाना चाहता था,

26. Sha'ul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Sha'ul; for Sha'ul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

27. कि एक दूत ने शाऊल के पास आकर कहा, फुर्ती से चला आ; क्योंकि पलिश्तियों ने देश पर चढ़ाई की है।

27. But there came a messenger to Sha'ul, saying, Haste you, and come; for the Pelishtim have made a raid on the land.

28. यह सुन शाऊल दाऊद का पीछा छोड़कर पलिश्तियों का साम्हना करने को चला; इस कारण उस स्थान का नाम सेलाहम्महलकोत पड़ा।

28. So Sha'ul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Pelishtim: therefore they called that place Sela-Hammachlekot.

29. वहां से दाऊद चढ़कर एनगदी के गढ़ों में रहने लगा।।

29. David went up from there, and lived in the strongholds of `En-Gedi.
