1. और हन्ना ने प्रार्थना करके कहा, मेरा मन यहोवा के कारण मगन है; मेरा सींग यहोवा के कारण ऊंचा, हुआ है। मेरा मुंह मेरे शत्रुओं के विरूद्ध खुल गया, क्योंकि मैं तेरे किए हुए उद्धार से आनन्दित हूं।
लूका 1:46-47

1. Then prayed Hannah, and said, My heart hath leaped for joy in Yahweh, My horn is exalted in Yahweh, My mouth is opened wide, o'er my foes, Because I rejoice in thy salvation.

2. यहोवा के तुल्य कोई पवित्रा नहीं, क्योंकि तुझ को छोड़ और कोई है ही नहीं; और हमारे परमेश्वर के समान कोई चट्टान नहीं है।।

2. There is none holy like Yahweh, Nay! there, is none, except Thee, Nor, is, there a rock, like our God.

3. फूलकर अहंकार की ओर बातें मत करो, और अन्धेर की बातें तुम्हारे मुंह से न निकलें; क्योंकि यहोवा ज्ञानी ईश्वर है, और कामों को तौलनेवाला है।।

3. Do not multiply words, so loftily loftily, Nor let arrogance proceed from your mouth, For, a GOD of knowledge, is Yahweh, And, for himself, are great doings made firm.

4. शूरवीरों के धनुष टूट गए, और ठोकर खानेवालों की कटि में बल का फेंटा कसा गया।।

4. The bow of the mighty, is dismayed, While, the fainting, are girded with strength;

5. जो पेट भरते थे उन्हें रोटी के लिये मजदूरी करनी पड़ी, जो भूखे थे वे फिर ऐसे न रहे। वरन जो बांझ थी उसके सात हुए, और अनेक बालकों की माता घुलती जाती है।

5. The sated, have, for bread, taken hire, But, the famished, have left off their toil, So that, the barren, hath given birth unto seven, While, she that hath many sons, languisheth:

6. यहोवा मारता है और जिलाता भी है; वही अधोलोक में उतारता और उस से निकालता भी है।।

6. Yahweh, doth kill, and make alive, Taketh down to hades, and bringeth up:

7. यहोवा निर्धन करता है और धनी भी बनाता है, वही नीचा करता और ऊंचा भी करता है।
लूका 1:52

7. Yahweh, maketh poor, and enricheth, Layeth low, yea exalteth;

8. वह कंगाल को धूलि में से उठाता; और दरिद्र को घूरे में से निकाल खड़ा करता है, ताकि उनको अधिपतियों के संग बिठाए, और महिमायुक्त सिंहासन के अधिकारी बनाए। क्योंकि पृथ्वी के खम्भे यहोवा के हैं, और उस ने उन पर जगत को धरा है।

8. Raiseth, from the dust, the poor, From the dunghill, uplifteth the needy, To give them a dwelling with nobles, And, a throne of glory, to make them inherit. For, to Yahweh, belong the pillars of the earth, And he setteth thereon the habitable world.

9. वह अपने भक्तों के पावों को सम्भाले रहेगा, परन्तु दुष्ट अन्धियारे में चुपचाप पड़े रहेंगे; क्योंकि कोई मनुष्य अपने बल के कारण प्रबल न होगा।।

9. The feet of his loving ones, he doth guard, But, the lawless, in darkness shall be silent, For, by strength, shall no man prevail.

10. जो यहोवा से झगड़ते हैं वे चकनाचूर होंगे; वह उनके विरूद्ध आकाश में गरजेगा। यहोवा पृथ्वी की छोर तक न्याय करेगा; और अपने राजा को बल देगा, और अपने अभिषिक्त के सींग को ऊंचा करेगा।।
लूका 1:69

10. As for Yahweh, they shall be shattered who contend with him, Over him, in the heavens will he thunder, Yahweh, will judge the ends of the earth, That he may give strength to his King, And exalt the horn of his Anointed One.

11. तब एल्काना रामा को अपने घर चला गया। और वह बालक एली याजक के साम्हने यहोवा की सेवा टहल करने लगा।।

11. Then went Elkanah to Ramah, unto his own house, but, the boy, remained ministering unto Yahweh, before Eli the priest.

12. एली के पुत्रा तो लुच्चे थे; उन्हों ने यहोवा को न पहिचाना।

12. Now, the sons of Eli, were abandoned men, they knew not Yahweh.

13. और याजकों की रीति लोगों के साथ यह थी, कि जब कोई मनुष्य मेलबलि चढ़ाता था तब याजक का सेवक मांस पकाने के समय एक त्रिशूली कांटा हाथ में लिये हुए आकर,

13. And, the custom of the priests with the people, was when any man offered a sacrifice, then would come the priests young man, as the flesh was boiling, with a three-pronged fork in his hand;

14. उसे कड़ाही, वा हांडी, वा हंडे, वा तसले के भीतर डालता था; और जितना मांस कांटे में लग जाता था उतना याजक आप लेता था। यों ही वे शीलो में सारे इस्राएलियों से किया करते थे जो वहां आते थे।

14. and would strike it into the boiler, or into the trough, or into the kettle, or into the pot, all that the fork would bring up, the priest took for himself. Thus and thus, used they to do unto all Israel, who came thither, in Shiloh.

15. और चर्बी जलाने से पहिले भी याजक का सेवक आकर मेलबलि चढ़ानेवाले से कहता था, कि कबाब के लिये याजक को मांस दे; वह तुझ से पका हुआ नहीं, कच्चा ही मांस लेगा।

15. Also, before any could make perfume with the fat, the priests young man would come in and say to the person who was sacrificing, Come! give flesh for the priest's roastings, for he will not take of thee boiled flesh only raw.

16. और जब कोई उस से कहता, कि निश्चय चर्बी अभी जलाई जाएगी, तब जितना तेरा जी चाहे उतना ले लेना, तब वह कहता था, नहीं, अभी दे; नहीं तो मैं छीन लूंगा।

16. And, if the man said to him, Let them at least, make incense, at once with the fat, then take thou as much as thy soul craveth, Then said he to him, But, at once, shalt thou give it; or else, I will take it by force.

17. इसलिये उन जवानों का पाप यहोवा की दृष्टि में बहुत भारी हुआ; क्योंकि वे मनुष्य यहोवा की भेंट का तिरस्कार करते थे।।

17. And so it was, that, the sin of the young men, was exceeding great, before Yahweh, for men scorned the offerings of Yahweh.

18. परन्तु शमूएल जो बालक था सनी का एपोद पहिने हुए यहोवा के साम्हने सेवा टहल किया करता था।

18. But, as for Samuel, he was ministering before Yahweh, a boy girded with an ephod of linen.

19. और उसकी माता प्रति वर्ष उसके लिये एक छोटा सा बागा बनाकर जब अपने पति के संग प्रति वर्ष की मेलबलि चढ़ाने आती थी तब बागे को उसके पास लाया करती थी।

19. Also, a little robe, used his mother to make for him, and bring it up to him, from year to year, when she came up with her husband, to offer the sacrifice of the year.

20. और एली ने एल्काना और उसकी पत्नी को आशीर्वाद देकर कहा, यहोवा इस अर्पण किए हुए बालक की सन्ती जो उसको अर्पण किया गया है तुझ को इस पत्नी के वंश दे; तब वे अपने यहां चले गए।

20. And Eli used to bless Elkanah and his wife, and to say Yahweh give thee seed of this woman, instead of the loan that hath been lent unto Yahweh. So they went their way to his own place.

21. और यहोवा ने हन्ना की सुधि ली, और वह गर्भवती हुई ओर उसके तीन बेटे और दो बेटियां उत्पन्न हुई। और शमूएल बालक यहोवा के संग रहता हुआ बढ़ता गया।

21. And Yahweh visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bare three sons, and two daughters. Thus did the boy Samuel grow up with Yahweh.

22. और एली तो अति बूढ़ा हो गया था, और उस ने सुना कि मेरे पुत्रा सारे इस्राएल से कैसा कैसा व्यवहार करते हैं, वरन मिलापवाले तम्बू के द्वार पर सेवा करनेवाली स्त्रियों के संग कुकर्म भी करते हैं।

22. Now, Eli, was very old, but he used to hear all that his sons did unto all Israel, and how they even lay with the women who did service, at the opening of the tent of meeting.

23. तब उस ने उन से कहा, तुम ऐसे ऐसे काम क्यों करते हो? मैं तो इन सब लोगों से तुम्हारे कुकर्मों की चर्चा सुना करता हूं।

23. So he said to them, Wherefore should ye do such things as these? for I keep hearing of your wicked doings, from all these people.

24. हे मेरे बेटों, ऐसा न करो, क्योंकि जो समाचार मेरे सुनने में आता है वह अच्छा नहीं; तुम तो यहोवा की प्रजा से अपराध कराते हो।

24. Nay, my sons! for it is no good report that I do hear: leading into transgression the people of Yahweh.

25. यदि एक मनुष्य दूसरे मनुष्य का अपराध करे, तब तो परमेश्वर उसका न्याय करेगा; परन्तु यदि कोई मनुष्य यहोवा के विरूद्ध पाप करे, तो उसके लिये कौन बिनती करेगा? तौभी उन्हों ने अपने पिता की बात न मानी; क्योंकि यहोवा की इच्छा उन्हें मार डालने की थी।

25. If one man sin against another, God will interpose, but, if, against Yahweh, a man sin, who will intercede, for him? But they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, for Yahweh was pleased to put them to death.

26. परन्तु शमूएल बालक बढ़ता गया और यहोवा और मनुष्य दोनो उस से प्रसन्न रहते थे।।
लूका 2:52

26. But, the boy Samuel, went on growing in stature, and in favour, both with Yahweh, and also with men.

27. और परमेश्वर का एक जन एली के पास जाकर उस से कहने लगा, यहोवा यों कहता है, कि जब तेरे मूलपुरूष का घराना मि में फिरौन के घराने के वश में था, तब क्या मैं उस पर निश्चय प्रगट न हुआ था?

27. And there came a man of God, unto Eli, and said unto him Thus, saith Yahweh, I, did indeed reveal myself, unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt, as servants unto the house of Pharaoh;

28. और क्या मैं ने उसे इस्राएल के सब गोत्रों में से इसलिये चुन नहीं लिया था, कि मेरा याजक होकर मेरी वेदी के ऊपर चढ़ावे चढ़ाए, और धूप जलाए, और मेरे साम्हने एपोद पहिना करे? और क्या मैं ने तेरे मूलपुरूष के घराने को इस्राएलियों के कुल हव्य न दिए थे?

28. choosing him out of all the tribes of Israel unto myself, to minister as priest, to offer upon mine altar, to perfume with incense to bear an ephod before me, Therefore gave I unto the house of thy father all the altar-flames of the sons of Israel.

29. इसलिये मेरे मेलबलि और अन्नबलि जिनको मैं ने अपने धाम में चढ़ाने की आज्ञा दी है, उन्हें तुम लोग क्यों पांव तले रौंदते हो? और तू क्यों अपने पुत्रों का आदर मेरे आदर से अधिक करता है, कि तुम लोग मेरी इस्राएली प्रजा की अच्छी से अच्छी भेंटें खा खाके मोटे हो जाओ?

29. Wherefore have ye been kicking at my sacrifices, and my presents, which I commanded, to serve for a home, and shouldest have honoured thy sons more than me: fattening yourselves, with the first of every present of Israel, before me?

30. इसलिये इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा की यह वाणी है, कि मैं ने कहा तो था, कि तेरा घराना और तेरे मूलपुरूष का घराना मेरे साम्हने सदैव चला करेगा; परन्तु अब यहोवा की वाणी यह है, कि यह बात मुझ से दूर हो; क्योंकि जो मेरा आदर करें मैं उनका आदर करूंगा, और जो मुझे तुच्छ जानें वे छोटे समझे जाएंगे।

30. Hence, the oracle of Yahweh God of Israel, I, said, that, thy house, and the house of thy father, should go to and fro in my presence, unto times age-abiding: But, now, (is the oracle of Yahweh) Be it far from me! For, them who honour me, will I honour, but, they who despise me, shall be lightly esteemed.

31. सुन, वे दिन आते हैं, कि मैं तेरा भुजबल और तेरे मूलपुरूष के घराने का भुजबल ऐसा तोड़ डालूंगा, कि तेरे घराने में कोई बूढ़ा होने न पाएगा।

31. Lo! days are coming, when I will hew off thine arm, and the arm of the house of thy father, that there shall be no elder in thy house;

32. इस्राएल का कितना ही कल्याण क्यों न हो, तौभी तुझे मेरे धाम का दु:ख देख पड़ेगा, और तेरे घराने में कोई कभी बूढ़ा न होने पाएगा।

32. But thou shalt descry distress at home, in all that shall gladden Israel, and there shall not be an elder in thine own house, all the days.

33. मैं तेरे कुल के सब किसी से तो अपनी वेदी की सेवा न छीनूंगा, परन्तु तौभी तेरी आंखें देखती रह जाएंगी, और तेरा मन शोकित होगा, और तेरे घर की बढ़ती सब अपनी पूरी जवानी ही में मर मिटेंगें।

33. But, any man of thine whom I may not cut off from mine altar, it shall be to consume his eyes, and grieve his soul; Howbeit, all the multitude of thy house, shall die, by the sword of men.

34. और मेरी इस बात का चिन्ह वह विपत्ति होगी जो होप्नी और पीनहास नाम तेरे दोनों पुत्रों पर पड़ेगी; अर्थात् वे दोनो के दोनों एक ही दिन मर जाएंगे।

34. And, this, for thee is the sign, which shall come upon thy two sons, upon Hophni and Phinehas, In one day, shall they, both of them, die;

35. और मैं अपने लिये एक विश्वासयोग्य याजक ठहराऊंगा, जो मेरे हृदय और मन की इच्छा के अनुसार किया करेगा, और मैं उसका घर बसाऊंगा और स्थिर करूंगा, और वह मेरे अभिषिक्त के आगे सब दिन चला फिरा करेगा।

35. And I will raise me up a faithful priest, According to that which is in my heart and in my soul, will he do; Therefore will I build for him an assured house, and he shall go to and fro in presence of mine Anointed, all the days.

36. और ऐसा होगा कि जो कोई तेरे घराने में बचा रहेगा वह उसी के पास जाकर एक छोटे से टुकड़े चान्दी के वा एक रोटी के लिये दण्डवत् करके कहेगा, याजक के किसी काम में मुझे लगा, जिस से मुझे एक टुकड़ा रोटी मिले।।

36. And it shall be, that, any that is left in thy house, shall come bowing down to him for a small coin of silver, and for a cake of bread, and shall say: Appoint me, I pray thee, to one of the priestly offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
