1. और शाऊल ने अपने पुत्रा योनातन और अपने सब कर्मचारियों से दाऊद को मार डालने की चर्चा की। परन्तु शाऊल का पुत्रा योनातन दाऊद से बहुत प्रसन्न था।

1. Now Saul told Jonathan his son and all his servants to put David to death. But Jonathan, Saul's son, greatly delighted in David.

2. और योनातन ने दाऊद को बताया, कि मेरा पिता तुझे मरवा डालना चाहता है; इसलिये तू बिहान को सावधान रहना, और किसी गुप्त स्थान में बैठा हुआ छिपा रहना;

2. So Jonathan told David saying, 'Saul my father is seeking to put you to death. Now therefore, please be on guard in the morning, and stay in a secret place and hide yourself.

3. और मैं मैदान में जहां तू होगा वहां जाकर अपने पिता के पास खड़ा होकर उस से तेरी चर्चा करूंगा; और यदि मुझे कुछ मालूम हो तो तुझे बताऊंगा।

3. 'I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak with my father about you; if I find out anything, then I will tell you.'

4. और योनातन ने अपने पिता शाऊल से दाऊद की प्रशंसा करके उस से कहा, कि हे राजा, अपने दास दाऊद का अपराधी न हो; क्योंकि उस ने तेरा कुछ अपराध नहीं किया, वरन उसके सब काम तेरे बहुत हित के हैं;

4. Then Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, 'Do not let the king sin against his servant David, since he has not sinned against you, and since his deeds [have been] very beneficial to you.

5. उस ने अपने प्राण पर खेलकर उस पलिश्ती को मार डाला, और यहोवा ने समस्त इस्राएलियों की बड़ी जय कराई। इसे देखकर तू आनन्दित हुआ था; और तू दाऊद को अकारण मारकर निर्दोष के खून का पापी क्यों बने?

5. 'For he took his life in his hand and struck the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great deliverance for all Israel; you saw [it] and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood by putting David to death without a cause?'

6. तब शाऊल ने योनातन की बात मानकर यह शपथ खाई, कि यहोवा के जीवन की शपथ, दाऊद मार डाला न जाएगा।

6. Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan, and Saul vowed, 'As the LORD lives, he shall not be put to death.'

7. तब योनातन ने दाऊद को बुलाकर ये समस्त बातें उसको बताई। फिर योनातन दाऊद को शाऊल के पास ले गया, और वह पहिले की नाईं उसके साम्हने रहने लगा।।

7. Then Jonathan called David, and Jonathan told him all these words. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as formerly.

8. तब फिर लड़ाई होने लगी; और दाऊद जाकर पलिश्तियों से लड़ा, और उन्हें बड़ी मार से मारा, और वे उसके साम्हने से भाग गए।

8. When there was war again, David went out and fought with the Philistines and defeated them with great slaughter, so that they fled before him.

9. और जब शाऊल हाथ में भाला लिए हुए घर में बैठा था; और दाऊद हाथ से बजा रहा िाा, तब यहोवा की ओर से एक दुष्ट आत्मा शाऊल पर चढ़ा।

9. Now there was an evil spirit from the LORD on Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand, and David was playing [the harp] with [his] hand.

10. और शाऊल ने चाहा, कि दाऊद को ऐसा मारे कि भाला उसे बेधते हुए भीत में धंस जाए; परन्तु दाऊद शाऊल के साम्हने से ऐसा हट गया कि भाला जाकर भीत ही में धंस गया। और दाऊद भागा, और उस रात को बच गया।

10. Saul tried to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, so that he stuck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night.

11. और शाऊल ने दाऊद के घर पर दूत इसलिये भेजे कि वे उसकी घात में रहें, और बिहान को उसे मार डालें, तब दाऊद की स्त्री मीकल ने उसे यह कहकर जताया, कि यदि तू इस रात को अपना प्राण न बचाए, तो बिहान को मारा जाएगा।

11. Then Saul sent messengers to David's house to watch him, in order to put him to death in the morning. But Michal, David's wife, told him, saying, 'If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be put to death.'

12. तब मीकल ने दाऊद को खिड़की से उतार दिया; और वह भाग कर बच निकला।

12. So Michal let David down through a window, and he went out and fled and escaped.

13. तब मीकल ने गृहदेवताओं को ले चारपाई पर लिटाया, और बकरियों के रोएं की तकिया उसके सिरहाने पर रखकर उन को वस्त्रा ओढ़ा दिए।

13. Michal took the household idol and laid [it] on the bed, and put a quilt of goats' [hair] at its head, and covered [it] with clothes.

14. जब शाऊल ने दाऊद को पकड़ लाने के लिये दूत भेजे, तब वह बोली, वह तो बीमार है।

14. When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, 'He is sick.'

15. तब शाऊल ने दूतों को दाऊद के देखने के लिये भेजा, और कहा, उसे चारपाई समेत मेरे पास लाओ कि मैं उसे मार डालूं।

15. Then Saul sent messengers to see David, saying, 'Bring him up to me on his bed, that I may put him to death.'

16. जब दूत भीतर गए, तब क्या देखते हैं कि चारपाई पर गृहदेवता पड़े हैं, और सिरहाने पर बकरियों के रोएं की तकिया है।

16. When the messengers entered, behold, the household idol [was] on the bed with the quilt of goats' [hair] at its head.

17. सो शाऊल ने मीकल से कहा, तू ने मुझे ऐसा धोखा क्यों दिया? तू ने मेरे शत्रु को ऐसा क्यों जाने दिया कि वह बच निकला है? मीकल ने शाऊल से कहा, उस ने मुझ से कहा, कि मुझे जाने दे; मैं तुझे क्यों मार डालूं।।

17. So Saul said to Michal, 'Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?' And Michal said to Saul, 'He said to me, 'Let me go! Why should I put you to death?''

18. और दाऊद भागकर बच निकला, और रामा में शमूएल के पास पहुंचकर जो कुछ शाऊल ने उस से किया था सब उसे कह सुनाया। तब वह और शमूएल जाकर नबायोत में रहने लगे।

18. Now David fled and escaped and came to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth.

19. जब शाऊल ने दाऊद के पकड़ लाने के लिये दूत भेजे; और जब शाऊल के दूतों ने नबियों के दल को नबूवत करते हुए देखा, तब परमेश्वर का आत्मा उन पर चढ़ा, और वे भी नबूवत करने लगे।

19. It was told Saul, saying, 'Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.'

20. तब शाऊल ने दाऊद के पकड़ लाने के लिये दूत भेजे; और जब शाऊल के दूतों ने नबियों के दल को नबूवत करते हुए, और शमूएल को उनकी प्रधानता करते हुए देखा, तब परमेश्वर का आत्मा उन पर चढ़ा, और वे भी नबूवत करने लगे।

20. Then Saul sent messengers to take David, but when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing [and] presiding over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul; and they also prophesied.

21. इसका समाचार पाकर शाऊल ने और दूत भेजे, और वे भी नबूवत करने लगे। फिर शाऊल ने तीसरी बार दूत भेजे, और वे भी नबूवत करने लगे।

21. When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. So Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.

22. तब वह आप ही राता को चला, और उस बड़े गड़हे पर जो सेकू में है पहुंचकर पूछने लगा, कि शमूएल और दाऊद कहां है? किसी ने कहा, वे तो रामा के नबायोत में हैं।

22. Then he himself went to Ramah and came as far as the large well that is in Secu; and he asked and said, 'Where are Samuel and David?' And [someone] said, 'Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.'

23. तब वह उधर, अर्थात् रामा के नबायोत को चला; और परमेश्वर का आत्मा उस पर भी चढ़ा, और वह रामा के नबायोत को पहुंचने तक नबूवत करता हुआ चला गया।

23. He proceeded there to Naioth in Ramah; and the Spirit of God came upon him also, so that he went along prophesying continually until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

24. और उस ने भी अपने वस्त्रा उतारे, और शमूएल के साम्हने नबूवत करने लगा, और भूमि पर गिरकर दिन और रात नंगा पड़ा रहा। इस कारण से यह कहावत चली, कि क्या शाऊल भी नबियों में से है?

24. He also stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, 'Is Saul also among the prophets?'
