1. Ruth's mother-in-law Naomi said to her, 'My daughter, shouldn't I find security for you, so that you will be taken care of?

2. अब जिसकी दासियों के पास तू थी, क्या वह बोअज हमारा कुटुम्बी नहीं है? वह तो आज रात को खलिहान में जौ फटकेगा।

2. Now isn't Boaz our relative? Haven't you been working with his young women? This evening he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor.

3. तू स्नान कर तेल लगा, वस्त्रा पहिनकर खलिहान को जा; परन्तु जब तक वह पुरूष खा पी न चुके तब तक अपने को उस पर प्रगट न करना।

3. Wash, put on [perfumed] oil, and wear your [best] clothes. Go down to the threshing floor, but don't let the man know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking.

4. और जब वह लेट जाए, तब तू उस के लेटने के स्थान को देख लेना; फिर भीतर जा उसके पांव उघारके लेट जाना; तब वही तुझे बताएगा कि तुझे क्या करना चाहिये।

4. When he lies down, notice the place where he's lying, go in and uncover his feet, and lie down. Then he will explain to you what you should do.'

5. So [Ruth] said to her, 'I will do everything you say.'

6. उस ने उस से कहा, जो कुछ तू कहती है वह सब मैं करूंगी।

6. She went down [to] the threshing floor and did everything her mother-in-law had instructed her.

7. तब वह खलिहान को गई और अपनी सास की आज्ञा के अनुसार ही किया।

7. After Boaz ate, drank, and was in good spirits, he went to lie down at the end of the pile of barley. Then she went in secretly, uncovered his feet, and lay down.

8. जब बोअज खा पी चुका, और उसका मन आनन्दित हुआ, तब जाकर राशि के एक सिरे पर लेट गया। तब वह चुपचाप गई, और उसके पांव उघार के लेट गई।

8. At midnight, Boaz was startled, turned over, and there lying at his feet was a woman!

9. आधी रात को वह पुरूष चौंक पड़ा, और आगे की ओर झुककर क्या पाया, कि मेरे पांवों के पास कोई स्त्री लेटी है।

9. So he asked, 'Who are you?' 'I am Ruth, your slave,' she replied. 'Spread your cloak over me, for you are a family redeemer.'

10. उस ने पूछा, तू कौन है? तब वह बोली, मैं तो तेरी दासी रूत हूं; तू अपनी दासी को अपनी च र ओढ़ा दे, क्योंकि तू हमारी भूमि छुड़ानेवाला कुटुम्बी है।

10. Then he said, 'May the LORD bless you, my daughter. You have shown more kindness now than before, because you have not pursued younger men, whether rich or poor.

11. उस ने कहा, हे बेटी, यहोवा की ओर से तुझ पर आशीष हो; क्योंकि तू ने अपनी पिछली प्रीति पहिली से अधिक दिखाई, क्योंकि तू, क्या धनी, क्या कंगाल, किसी जवान के पीछे नहीं लगी।

11. Now don't be afraid, my daughter. I will do for you whatever you say, since all the people in my town know that you are a woman of noble character.

12. इसलिये अब, हे मेरी बेटी, मत डर, जो कुछ तू कहेगी मैं तुझ से करूंगा; क्योंकि मेरे नगर के सब लोग जानते हैं कि तू भली स्त्री है।

12. Yes, it is true that I am a family redeemer, but there is a redeemer closer than I am.

13. और अब सच तो है कि मैं छुड़ानेवाला कुटुम्बी हूं, तौभी एक और है जिसे मुझ से पहिले ही छुड़ाने का अधिकार है।

13. Stay [here] tonight, and in the morning, if he wants to redeem you, [that's] good. Let him redeem [you]. But if he doesn't want to redeem you, as the LORD lives, I will. Now, lie down until morning.'

14. सो रात भर ठहरी रह, और सबेरे यदि वह तेरे लिये छुड़ानेवाले का काम करना चाहे; तो अच्छा, वही ऐसा करे; परन्तु यदि वह तेरे लिये छुड़ानेवाले का काम करने को प्रसन्न न हो, तो यहोवा के जीवन की शपथ मैं ही वह काम करूंगा। भोर तक लेटी रह।

14. So she lay down at his feet until morning but got up while it was still dark. Then Boaz said, 'Don't let it be known that a woman came to the threshing floor.'

15. तब वह उसके पांवों के पास भोर तक लेटी रही, और उस से पहिले कि कोई दूसरे को चीन्ह सके वह उठी; और बोअज ने कहा, कोई जानने न पाए कि खलिहान में कोई स्त्री आई थी।

15. And he told [Ruth], 'Bring the shawl you're wearing and hold it out.' When she held it out, he shoveled six [measures] of barley into her shawl, and she went into the city.

16. तब बोअज ने कहा, जो च र तू ओढ़े है उसे फैलाकर थाम्भ ले। और जब उस ने उसे थाम्भा तब उस ने छ: नपुए जौ नापकर उसको उठा दिया; फिर वह नगर में चली गई।

16. She went to her mother-in-law, Naomi, who asked [her], 'How did it go, my daughter?' Then Ruth told her everything the man had done for her.

17. जब रूत अपनी सास के पास आई तब उस ने पूछा, हे बेटी, क्या हुआ? तब जो कुछ उस पुरूष ने उस से किया था वह सब उस ने उसे कह सुनाया।

17. She said, 'He gave me these six [measures] of barley, because he said, 'Don't go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed.''

18. फिर उस ने कहा, यह छ: नपुए जौ उस ने यह कहकर मुझे दिया, कि अपनी सास के पास छूछे हाथ मत जा।

18. Wait, my daughter,' she said, 'until you find out how things go, for he won't rest unless he resolves this today.'
