1. फिर यूसुफ के जेठे मनश्शे के गोत्रा का भाग चिट्ठी डालने से यह ठहरा। मनश्शे का जेठा पुत्रा गिलाद का पिता माकीर योद्धा था, इस कारण उसके वंश को गिलाद और बाशान मिला।

1. There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he {was} the first-born of Joseph; {to wit}, for Machir the first-born of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

2. इसलिये यह भाग दूसरे मनश्शेइशें के लिये उनके कुलों के अनुसार ठहरा, अर्थात् अबीएजेर, हेलेक, असीएल, शेकेम, हेपेर, और शमीदा; जो अपने अपने कुलों के अनुसार यूसुफ के पुत्रा मनश्शे के वंश में के पुरूष थे, उनके अलग अलग वंशों के लिये ठहरा।

2. There was also {a lot} for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these {were} the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.

3. परन्तु हेपेर जो गिलाद का पुत्रा, माकीर का पोता, और मनश्शे का परपोता था, उसके पुत्रा सलोफाद के बेटे नहीं, बेटियां ही हुईं; और उनके नाम महला, नोआ, होग्ला, मिलका, और तिर्सा हैं।

3. But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these {are} the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

4. तब वे एलीआज़र याजक, नून के पुत्रा यहोशू, और प्रधानों के पास जाकर कहने लगीं, यहोवा ने मूसा को आज्ञा दी थी, कि वह हम को हमारे भाइयों के बीच भाग दे। तो यहोशू ने यहोवा की आज्ञा के अनुसार उन्हें उनके चाचाओं के बीच भाग दिया।

4. And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren: therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

5. तब मनश्शे को, यरदन पार गिलाद देश और बाशान को छोड़, दस भाग मिले;

5. And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which {were} on the other side of Jordan;

6. क्योंकि मनश्शेइयों के बीच में मनश्शेई स्त्रियों को भी भाग मिला। और दूसरे मनश्शेइयों को गिलाद देश मिला।

6. Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh's sons had the land of Gilead.

7. और मनश्शे का सिवाना आशेर से लेकर मिकमतात तक पहुंचा, जो शकेम के साम्हने है; फिर वह दक्खिन की ओर बढ़कर एनतप्पूह के निवासियों तक पहुंचा।

7. And the border of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that {lieth} before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand to the inhabitants of En-tappuah.

8. तप्पूह की भूमि तो मनश्शे को मिली, परन्तु तप्पूह नगर जो मनश्शे के सिवाने पर बसा है वह एप्रैमियों का ठहरा।

8. {Now} Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh {belonged} to the children of Ephraim;

9. फिर वहां से वह सिवाना काना के नाले तक उतरके उसके दक्खिन की ओर तक पहुंच गया; ये नगर य पि मनश्शे के सिवाने पर बसा है वह एप्रैमियों का ठहरा।

9. And the border descended to the river Kanah, southward of the river. These cities of Ephraim {are} among the cities of Manasseh: the border of Manasseh also {was} on the north side of the river, and the limits of it were at the sea:

10. दक्खिन की ओर का देश तो एप्रैम को और उत्तर की ओर का मनश्शे को मिला, और उसका सिवाना समुद्र ठहरा; और वे उत्तर की ओर आशेर से और पूर्व की ओर इस्साकर से जा मिले।

10. Southward {it was} Ephraim's, and northward {it was} Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.

11. और मनश्शे की, इस्साकार और आशेर अपने अपने नगरों समेत बेतशान, यिबलाम, और अपने नगरों समेत तानाक कि निवासी, और अपने नगरों समेत मगिद्दॊ के निवासी, ये तीनों जो ऊंचे स्थानों पर बसे हैं मिले।

11. And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Beth-shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of En-dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Tanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, {even} three countries.

12. परन्तु मनश्शेई उन नगरों के निवासियों को उन में से नहीं निकाल सके; इसलिये वे कनानी उस देश में बरियाई से बसे ही रहे।

12. Yet the children of Manasseh could not expel {the inhabitants of} those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

13. तौभी जब इस्राएली सामर्थी हो गए, तब कनानियों से बेगारी तो कराने लगे, परन्तु उनको पूरी रीति से निकाल बाहर न किया।।

13. Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel had become strong, that they subjected the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly expel them.

14. यूसुफ की सन्तान यहोशू से कहने लगी, हम तो गिनती में बहुत हैं, क्योंकि अब तक यहोवा हमें आशीष ही देता आया है, फिर तू ने हमारे भाग के लिये चिट्ठी डालकर क्यों एक ही अंश दिया है?

14. And the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me {but} one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I {am} a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath hitherto blessed me?

15. यहोशू ने उन से कहा, यदि तुम गिनती में बहुत हो, और एप्रैम का पहाड़ी देश तुम्हारे लिये छोटा हो, तो परिज्जयों और रपाइयों का देश जो जंगल है उसमें जाकर पेड़ों को काट डालो।

15. And Joshua answered them, If thou {art} a great people, {then} go up to the wood, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim is too narrow for thee.

16. यूसुफ की सन्तान ने कहा, वह पहाड़ी देश हमारे लिये छोटा है; और क्या बेतसान और उसके नगरों में रहनेवाले, क्या यिज्रेल की तराई में रहेनवाले, जितने कनानी नीचे के देश में रहते हैं, उन सभों के पास लोहे के रथ हैं।

16. And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, {both they} who {are} of Beth-shean and its towns, and {they} who {are} of the valley of Jezreel.

17. फिर यहोशू ने, क्या एप्रैमी क्या मनश्शेई, अर्थात् यूसुफ के सारे घराने से कहा, हां तुम लोग तो गिनती में बहुत हो, और तुम्हारी बड़ी सामर्थ भी है, इसलिये तुम को केवल एक ही भाग न मिलेगा;

17. And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, {even} to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou {art} a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot {only}:

18. पहाड़ी देश भी तुम्हारा हो जाएगा; क्योंकि वह जंगल तो है, परन्तु उसके पेड़ काट डालो, तब उसके आस पास का देश भी तुम्हारा हो जाएगा; क्योंकि चाहे कनानी सामर्थी हों, और उनके पास लोहे के रथ भी हों, तौभी तुम उन्हें वहां से निकाल सकोगे।।

18. But the mountain shall be thine; for it {is} a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the limits of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, {and} though they {are} strong.
