1. श्ग्यिोनीत की रीति पर हबक्कूक नबी की प्रार्थना।।

1. [A] prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, because of all the ignorance.

2. हे यहेावा, मैं तेरी कीर्त्ति सुनकर डर गया। हे यहोवा, वर्तमान युग में अपने काम को पूरा कर; इसी युग में तू उसको प्रकट कर; क्रोध करते हुए भी दया करना स्मरण कर।।

2. O LORD, I have heard thy word [and] was afraid; O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the times; in the midst of the times make it known; in wrath remember mercy.

3. ईश्वर तेमान से आया, पवित्रा ईश्वर परान पर्वत से आ रहा है। उसका तेज आकाश पर छाया हुआ है, और पृथ्वी उसकी स्तुति से परिपूर्ण हो गई है।।

3. God shall come from Teman, and the Holy [One] from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was filled with his praise.

4. उसकी ज्योति सूर्य के तुल्य थी, उसके हाथ से किरणे निकल रही थीं; और इन में उसका सामर्थ छिपा हुआ था।

4. And [his] brightness was as the light; he had horns [coming] out of his hand; and there [was] hidden his strength.

5. उसके आगे आगे मरी फैलती गई, और उसके पांवों से महाज्वर निकलता गया।

5. Before his face went mortality, and burning coals went forth from his feet.

6. वह खड़ा होकर पृथ्वी को नाप रहा था; उस ने देखा और जाति जाति के लोग घबरा गए; तब सनातन पर्वत चकनाचूर हो गए, और सनातन की पहाड़ियां झुक गई उसकी गति अनन्त काल से एक सी है।

6. He stood and measured the earth; he beheld and drove out the Gentiles; and the ancient mountains crumbled, the ancient hills; the ways of the world bowed unto him.

7. मुझे कूशान के तम्बू में रहनेवाले दु:ख से दबे दिखाई पड़े; और मिद्यान देश के डेरे डगमगा गए।

7. I saw the tents of Cushan as nothing, [and] the curtains of the land of Midian trembled.

8. हे यहोवा, क्या तू नदियों पर रिसियाया था? क्या तेरा क्रोध नदियों पर भड़का था, अथवा क्या तेरी जलजलाहट समुद्र पर भड़की थी, जब तू अपने घोड़ों पर और उद्धार करनेवाले विजयी रथों पर चढ़कर आ रहा था?

8. Oh LORD, wast thou displeased against the rivers? [was] thine anger against the rivers? [was] thy wrath even against the sea when thou didst ride upon thine horses [and] thy chariots of saving health?

9. तेरा धनुष खोल में से निकल गया, तेरे दण्ड का वचन शाप के साथ हुआ था। तू ने धरती को नदियों से चीर डाला।

9. Thy bow was entirely uncovered, and the oaths unto the tribes, eternal word, when thou didst divide the earth with rivers.

10. पहाड़ तुझे देखकर कांप उठे; आंधी और जलप्रलय निकल गए; गहिरा सागर बोल उठा और अपने हाथों अर्थात् लहरों को ऊपर उठाया।

10. The mountains saw thee, [and] they trembled: the overflowing of the waters passed by; the abyss uttered its voice; the deep lifted up its hands.

11. तेरे उड़नेवाले तीरों के चलने की जयोति से, और तेरे चमकीले भाले की झलक के प्रकाश से सूर्य और चन्द्रमा अपने अपने स्थान पर ठहर गए।।

11. The sun [and] the moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went [and] at the shining of thy glittering spear.

12. तू क्रोध में आकर पृथ्वी पर चल निकला, तू ने जाति जाति को क्रोध से नाश किया।

12. Thou didst tread upon the land in wrath; thou didst thresh the Gentiles in anger.

13. तू अपनी प्रजा के उद्धार के लिये निकला, हां, अपने अभिषिक्त के संग होकर उद्धार के लिये निकला। तू ने दुष्ट के घर के सिर को घायल करके उसे गल से नेव तक नंगा कर दिया।

13. Thou didst go forth to save thy people, to save with thine anointed; thou didst shatter the head of the house of the wicked by uncovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

14. तू ने उसके योद्धाओं के सिरों को उसी की बर्छी से छेदा है, वे मुझ को तितर- बितर करने के लिये बवंडर की आंधी की नाईं आए, और दीन लोगों को घात लगाकर मार डालने की आशा से आनन्दित थे।

14. Thou didst strike through with his staffs the heads of his villages, who as a whirlwind attempted to scatter me; their pride [was] as to devour the poor secretly.

15. तू अपने घोड़ों पर सवार होकर समुद्र से हां, जलप्रलय से पार हो गया।।

15. Thou didst make a way through the sea for thine horses [through] the heap of great waters.

16. यह सब सुनते ही मेरा कलेजा कांप उठा, मेरे ओंठ थरथराने लगे; मेरी हडि्डयां सड़ने लगीं, और मैं खड़े खड़े कांपने लगा। मैं शान्ति से उस दिन की बाट जोहता रहूंगा जब दल बांधकर प्रजा चढ़ाई करे।।

16. When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice; rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in my seat, that I might rest in the day of trouble when he comes up unto the people to destroy them.

17. क्योंकि चाहे अंजीर के वृक्षों में फूल न लगें, और न दाखलताओं में फल लगें, जलपाई के वृक्ष से केवल धोखा पाया जाए और खेतों में अन्न न उपजे, भेड़शालाओं में भेड़- बकरियां न रहें, और न थानों में गाय बैल हों,
लूका 13:6

17. Because the fig tree shall not blossom, neither [shall] fruit [be] on the vines; the labour of the olive shall lie, and the cultivated fields shall yield no food; the sheep shall be cut off from the fold, and [there shall be] no herd in the stalls:

18. तौभी मैं यहोवा के कारण आनन्दित और मगन रहूंगा, और अपने उद्धारकर्त्ता परमेश्वर के द्वारा अति प्रसन्न रहूंगा।।

18. yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will joy in the God of my saving health.

19. यहोवा परमेश्वर मेरा बलमूल है, वह मेरे पांव हरिणों के समान बना देता है, वह मुझ को मेरे ऊंचे स्थानों पर चलाता है।।

19. The LORD God [is] my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' [feet], and upon my high places he will cause me to walk victorious in my instruments of music.:
